I've been testing out a new primer (review to come) and it made me think of this question:
Foundation primer: every day, occasionally or never?
I have to admit that I often skip this step, but when I DO use primer, I always think to myself, "Why don't I make the effort to use this every day?" There is such an improvement in the look of my foundation (and the staying power) that I really should use it every single day. How about you?
I am the same way. I go out of my way to find primers I really like, and find that I dont use them on a consecutive basis.
ReplyDeleteI only use it at night or if I'm going to be out all day into the night so my foundation could last without too much retouching. Most of te time I don't even have to retouch.
ReplyDeleteI know you're supposed to but I almost never do! I only remember to prime when I'm going to an event (like a party or a function) but for everyday use, I find the new BB cream I've been using + setting powder works well enough. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm with you: occasionally but only because I tend to forget.
ReplyDeleteNo face primer, because I don't even wear foundation. I never wear any makeup besides eye makeup; parts of my face get so oily sometimes that foundation would probably slide right off! xD (Unhelpful answer is unhelpful...)
ReplyDeleteHowever, if the question was about eyeshadow primer, I would say always. ;)
I am a new comer to using primer, so occasionally I forget, but boy do I notice it mid afternoon! My rule of thumb is daily during the week. Not so much on the weekend. I don't always have time to freshen up my make up mid day during the week and I find with primer I don't really have to!
ReplyDeleteI usually only use it if I am going somewhere important.
ReplyDeleteEver since finding my holy grail foundation (NARS Sheer Glow in Siberia) I haven't used primer. I just haven't found a primer that works well with it. My wear time with it is great though - it stays put and looks fresh for hours. It would be nice to have a primer to get the extra mileage out of my foundation though...if anyone knows of a good primer that pairs well with Sheer Glow please let me know! <3
ReplyDeleteI just recently started using a foundation primer and I use it every day. I'm using an unusual product though - it's the Monistat Anti-Chafing Gel which happens to have ingredients that are very similar to more traditional foundation primers. So far so good!
ReplyDeleteI always use a primer when doing my makeup. My foundation last all day because of it.
ReplyDeleteI use it everyday. Even if I am just doing a quick tutorial. It just helps my foundation glide on my skin alot smoother and improves the overall look of my skin. I have also noticed too that when I apply it underneath of my eyelids, it really helps to stop your concealer from settling into your under eye wrinkles
ReplyDeleteI use Avon Magix Face Perfector, and I use it everyday that I am making the effort to wear makeup. I even wear it without foundation, since it helps my skin look better in general. Though lately I have been using at least a bit of foundation all the time.
ReplyDeleteI always use a foundation primer, unless I'm just running on a quick errand and don't have the time or don't want to make the effort.
ReplyDeleteI've been using a foundation primer for nearly 9 years now and I don't think I could stop!
I love to always use a foundation primer!
ReplyDeleteoccasionally .........
ReplyDeleteI started using foundation primers about a year ago, and now I always use one. I have really dry skin, so I need that extra layer to lock in moisture and keep foundation from sticking to dry patches. My foundation looks a lot better now and doesn't absorb into my skin like it used to.
ReplyDeleteI tried it a few times, and *hated* the feel. If my skin is in such a state that I need primer + full coverage, I don't bother with any makeup. Most days it's a tinted moisturizer + pressed powder, or mineral powder + finishing powder.
ReplyDeleteI can't live without my primer, it's one of my daily staples, I even wear it with without foundation sometimes and with a light powder.
ReplyDeleteI don't wear foundation....however, I do wear concealer and mineral powder. So to keep everything intact and long lasting I use monistat chafing gel. It works very very well!!! I never have to touch up my makeup, so I definitey recommend it to others.
ReplyDeleteSame here - I have a couple (well, I guess it's three actually) primers that I like but I don't always use 'em, even tho at least one sits right next to my foundation in the cabinet! (caught them playing strip parcheesi the other day, but that's another story..)
ReplyDeleteI like how primer kinda fills in the "gaps" (those more cruel than I would call them "wrinkles") and smooths everythng out, so I need to try and remember to use it. Always....
