Missoni madness at Target (and not just for clothes!)

If you love budget-friendly clothing as much as you love budget-friendly makeup, then I'm pretty sure you tried to access Target.com this morning only to find that the site had crashed due traffic caused by the release of the new Missoni for Target collection.

But even if budget-friendly designer duds aren't your thing, I just read on Happi.com that the Missoni for Target collection includes some things that might interest you:

Missoni for Target "Colore" Jar Candle

One of the most talked-about fashion collaborations for Fall 2011 is Missoni for Target. And yes, the 400-piece-strong collection, which launches today, features two home fragrance SKUs: octagon-shaped candles with the famous Missoni print in multi-hued and pink-hued variations. Cosmetic bags and brushes will also be part of the mix.

The cross-category Missoni for Target collection is the largest in the retailer’s history of designer partnerships, with apparel for men, women, girls and baby, luggage, home furnishings and beauty products, ranging in price from $2.99 to $599, according to reports.

You can view the entire Missoni for Target Beauty Collection here. (I don't see brushes available yet, so perhaps those are forthcoming).

To view the entire Missoni for Target collection, click here (candles are located in the "Home" section).
As of the time of this blog post, there were still quite a few options available in the cosmetic bags, but many other products were already sold out online. Your best bet might be to check your local Target store if you don't want to wait for Target to restock their online inventory.

Did you purchase anything from Missoni for Target today? Are you thinking about making a purchase? If so, what do you have your eye on?

  1. I didn't, only because my store was still setting up, and I wanted to make sure I saw the whole shebang before I made any purchases. I really like the housewares (plates, cups, decor), and one top and sweater dress. The kids' clothing was too cute, too! I'm curious to see what the shoes look like, and if there will be any more women's clothing set out.

Also, I had no idea the clothing would be close to $40+ each! I realize it's a designer-for-store brand, but whoa! I like my pieces around $20 or less.

  2. I was going to buy a scarf and some other items, but the Target site is still down and my local target was sold out of just about everything. Apparently all the items were bought by people trying to make a buck on ebay, over 6200 items for missoni for target there. :(

  3. I went to my Target at 9:30 am for some coffee creamer and there was madness over this stuff. The lady in front of me bought over $200 worth of items. One lady in the checkout stand over from me put a bag down and the guy behind me about jumped across a register for it. He then apparently forgot something and sped off for more. I have never seen/heard of this stuff before today and had no clue what the deal was. Super crazy

  4. I went into one of the many target stores near me to pick up the maybelline falsies mascara because it was on sale for $5, and then I got the $1 coupon. I had to get a rain check because they were all sold out of that. I was talking to the girl working the register and she was telling me that this collection sold out in store. She said there were people waiting at the doors to buy the stuff. It surprised me when she said that.

  5. I tried for 3 hours to get on the site and when I finally did I searched to see if what I wanted was available at the local store and low and behold it was! I did pick up a really cute cardigan. I also wanted a dress but I decided it was too short. I did not look at the make up bags but I shall on the weekend. The clothes and accessories were cleared out with only a handful of very mini mini skirts when I got there at noon. Jeez!!!

  10. I work at Target and we were stocking shelves of Missoni products until 11:30pm last night and when I came in fork at 11am, 95% of the Missoni products were sold out.

  11. So this is why Target's site was down? lol I actually went to target around 3pm and walked right pass these items not knowing they're Missoni. My local target was stocked and it wasn't hectic at all.

  12. I just got back from Target, and I have a funny (sort-of) story to tell. As expected all the shelves were empty and I was on the look out for the beautiful suede pumps (online it said limited stock for my location), so I grabbed an empty box someone left behind (don't know why they left it, it's such a pretty box), and headed off to find an employee. The girl I asked didn't even look at me, she just said "we're out", and so did the next. All I was asking them to do was look on the computer to see if they have some in the back. All I was getting were dirty looks for asking, only after being nothing but nice and polite. To make a long story short, after asking not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 employees, I was finally able to get my hands on a pair in my size. Apparently, employee #3 radioed the Cust. Serv. desk, and told them a "persistent" customer was on their way (that's me :)) and once #4 actually bothered to look for 1min in their system, she found a few , yes a FEW, pairs in the back stockroom....who knew? I guess something told me to keep insisting they check the back (just ONE little check no one wanted to do for me), and Wiola! here they were :D So, lesson of the day: be politely persistent lol

  13. Just a heads up! I, too, was looking for the makeup brushes, but @TargetStyle just posted a little while ago that the brushes won't be released. Apparently they weren't up to standard. Why they didn't know this before now is beyond me! lol

  14. I haven't seen the products in store yet, but it seems as if Missoni slapped their pattern on every item imaginable...and people acted like sheep and grabbed it.

  15. a target employee told me a woman bought $6,000 worth of Missoni products.
such a shame this stuff is being sold for profit on ebay instead of being enjoyed by the consumers it was truly meant for : (

  16. Hmmm...I have a feeling that the area Targets around here won't be sold out. We're just hicks from the sticks and don't "get" this kind of thing. I guess I'll have to pop in and see if my theory is correct. lol

  17. I bought the flats for probably twice the price on eBay tonight, because my size is extremely hard to find at Target, they're always sold out. I'm trying to get a scarf on ebay too.

Shh, I'm going ebay so I can use the Bill Me Later option.

  18. I ended up going Wednesday night for something else and circled the store to see what was left. There were a lot of girls' shoes and even some wellies and platforms for women. There was 1 sweater dress left in the women's dept. I didn't see any of the makeup cases, but I did end up buying a set of two skinny headbands. They were pricy ($10 for two) but I couldn't resist the Missoni craze. :)

Oh, this was in Holyoke, MA, in case anyone is from Western Mass.
