Review: L'Oreal Feel Naturale Blush in Mocha Rose (on clearance at CVS)

Since this is one of the products that's currently on clearance at CVS for 75% off, I thought I better review it quickly so you can get it before it sells out (if you're interested, of course).

I LOVE powder blushes, and I can never have enough. When the lovely Jamie said she loved this line, I finally decided to give it a whirl because these blushes normally retail for $12.99 but with the discount they're only $3.24.

L'Oreal Feel Naturale Light Softening Powder Blush in Mocha Rose
(retail: $12.99, now on sale at CVS for $3.24)

Even though this is a matte blush, there is sparse gold sparkle in it, which you can see if you enlarge the photos above. However, when I apply it, I can barely see the sparkle, which is great if you're going for a matte look.

The first thing I noticed about this blush is BOY IS IT PIGMENTED! Those of you with deeper complexions might LOVE this blush because truly, you need just a tiny bit for it to show up on the skin. I find that it applies very nicely with the accompanying brush, which is actually a nice, quality brush for a change (when it comes to drugstore blushes, I find most accompanying brushes are far from usable). Having a brush that you can actually use is a great bonus if you're a powder blush gal, because it means that you don't have to clean your blush brush every single time you want to change colors. Yay!

In the picture below, I applied waaaay too much blush to my cheeks, but I was able to tone it down a bit by applying an extra layer of my powder foundation over the blush. But even still, you can see that it's pretty heavy, so I mean it when I say that this blush is pigmented. Start with just a tiny bit and build for more intensity!

For my NC20 skin, Mocha Rose is a very wearable color that borders between pink and plum, with just a hit of terracotta. I think it's quite versatile and would go with a wide assortment of eyeshadow shades. And the staying power has been excellent for me--I can swipe some on in the morning and still see my blush in the early evening.

I find this blush to be finely milled (not chunky or hard to work with) and easy to apply and blend. Given the rather pedestrian shade range (nothing to really write home about), and the full retail price of $12.99, I understand why I never tried this line before. I wasn't thrilled with the other shades in this line when I first looked at them (a lot of the shades look very, very warm and seem almost more like bronzers than blushes), but I might just take another look and scoop some more up before they're gone.

For under $4, I say run, don't walk, and pick one up for yourself before they disappear (if you can find a shade that appeals to you).

Do you already own a Feel Naturale blush? If so, what shades do you love?

  1. That's a great deal. The color really works on your complexion. Hmm...that shade makes me want to dye my hair red again after months of growing it out. Arghh! :)

  2. I'm so glad you liked them! The quality is great, but I agree that the color selection could use some work!

  4. I got this in Au Naturale (a brown bronzer type color, very slight sheen) and Rustica (dusty rose), I saw Mocha Rose but I thought it looked too warm for me... I think I might be taking these back b/c I really don't need more blushes and the colors aren't that awesome

  5. This was the firt blush I ever bought myself back in like 1999 or something, and I still have it and it is still my #1 favorite color. I have only acquired about a handful of other blushes in the years since and nothing compares to Mocha Rose. I'm afraid to use it because I can't find a dupe and I want it to stay pretty and clean forever and not get all used up haha.
