Very important CVS news (and a crazy new Milani product!)

A HUGE thanks to my lovely reader, Lily, for alerting me to the fact that CVS is printing out BOGOFREE Milani coupons this week at the "CVS Slot Machine" (my term for the ExtraCare red scanner box). Ladies, if you have a CVS card and you are not scanning it every time you enter the store for free coupons, you are missing out! Sure enough, I scanned my card today when I was at CVS and I got the Milani coupon!!

So as you probably know, Milani is BOGO1/2OFF this week at CVS, so I couldn't wait to see how this would turn out if I used the coupon in conjunction with this sale. I purchased a Milani Neon polish (swatches to come) and I also was going to purchase a Milani holo polish, UNTIL I saw this new display:

Have you ladies seen this new red lipstick that promises to be "The Perfect Red"? Apparently it works for ALL skintones because it reacts to your body's own PH. Well, given that it's gimmicky AND it comes in a cute goldtone case, you know I had to get one. I'm an absolutely sucker this kind of thing (and yes, I also have a big fat lemming going on for those Claire's Mood polishes!).

Please check back because I will definitely review this one. I cannot wait to see if it works.

So when I went to purchase the Milani products, I didn't say anything to the cashier--I just waited and held my breath. OK, so the Neon polish was $4.99 and the red lipstick was $5.49. With the BOGO1/2OFF sale, I was able to get $2.50 off the nail polish, so my total so far was $7.98. Then, the cashier scanned the coupon, and she took off an ADDITIONAL $4.99 (the entire price of the cheapest product, the nail polish)!! OMG OMG OMG, I ended up getting BOTH products for a grand total of $2.99!!

Ladies, I cannot stress this enough! Go to your CVS and scan your ExtraCare card ASAP! If you don't get the coupon the first time around, go back the next day (or go to another location) and scan it again until you get that Milani coupon (you can't scan your card at the same location within the same day and get coupons though, but you can get coupons at two locations within the same day--you just won't get the same coupon twice. Today I got the Milani coupon at one location and later in the day I went to another location and got a paper towel coupon.). But if you are a Milani fan, it's totally worth it keep going back until you get this coupon. But hurry, because the BOGOFREE Milani coupon expires 3/23, and of course you need to use it THIS week while CVS is running the BOGO1/2OFF sale on Milani!

That's it for now, but please check back soon because I've got tons of other new products to show you from CVS and Dollar Tree (today was a GREAT day for spotting goodies!).

And Lily, thanks again!!! :D

  4. Yes, CVS is awesome for the double dipping they allow. Its my favorite store. They would have let you use a manufacturer coupon as well, if there was one. :-)

Thanks for the FYI on Milani!! :-)

  6. Thanks so much for the shoutout! I'm glad you scored such great deals, and I'm super excited you picked up the Perfect Red. I was hoping you would! There are very few reviews of this online, and although I've seen it at my CVS, I am still hesitant. Can't wait to read your review!

  7. Congrats on the sweet deal!
Those "body chemistry" products tick me off because they don't actually react to create an ideal tone---they just change color because of temperature or pH levels of skin. It'll change color depending on where you swatch it. It's so unfair that companies take advantage of people like that.

  8. Oooh, lucky! I scanned my card yesterday to try for the milani coupon, but didn't get it. I just called my roommate (he's a pharmacist at CVS) and asked him to scan his card when he gets off work tonight. So hopefully he'll get it! He always seems to get better coupons than me anyway, but that might be because we usually use his card because of his employee discount.

  9. I just wanna say: Your blog is one I look forward to reading every day. I went to Rite-aid today and picked up some Borghese stuffs for 3 bucks!!! The hand cream was all gone...I'll have to check another location tomorrow. I'm also going to check out this card thing. Can't wait to see this lipstick.

  10. I can't wait to see if that works!! I wish my CVS got all the new products so soon like yours does. I hate living in tourist central. Today, someone asked one of the employees if they sold bathing suits; shocked she just said, "bathing suits? at CVS?!" The customer responded, "Well it is (tourist central)" Ugh, tourists are annoying, especially when they buy all the eyeliner.

  14. That BOGO 1/2 and BOGO coupon may be in reponse to KMart's BOGO on Milani that they have going this week :)
I had some more outings to CVSes here in my little NASCAR-crazy area and discovered some new clearances:

    1) Secret Scent Expressions and Smooth Effects. The entire Scent expressions line seems to be on closeout, but one CVS I visited had only certain scents on clearance. The Smooth Effects that were on clearance also varied by store.
    2) Dry Idea Clinical Strength in unscented.
    3) Various Degree, Ban, Sure, and some other deodorants.
    4) our beloved Pantene Relaxed and Natural Anti-Breakage masque is gone from the shelves. The regular Relaxed and Natural shampoo and conditioner are still around. Two Targets I've visited also pulled the masque but not the shampoo and conditioner.

Target has the Suave Professional naturals line on sale this week, generally at about the $1.75 range (one Target had them at $1.72, another at $1.77). The Almond and Shea conditioner is SOLD OUT at every Target I've visited. I also noticed at Target that the Garnier Triple Nutrition line has what seems to be a competitor to Pantene Relaxed and Natural Anti-Breakage masque; theirs is called the "Three Minute Mask" and is packaged in a similar tube, but green, natch ;) It's $4.99, so I may cough up some cash here soon and try it.
One Target I normally visit (it only has about 2 shelves of grocery-related items and one or two small freezer cases for milk and juice) had a small, older E.L.F. display that they've had for years, but they apparently put *all* the items on clearance here recently, because when I went it was bare except for two very old eye pencils, a few tubes of lip gloss in a pink shade, and single-pan eyeshadows in pink, sparkly black, and one lone goldish color. I'm hoping this means a new display is on its way rather than it disappearing entirely!
Target also has the presumably full line of the new Rimmel nail polishes now; there are some additional colors including a bright orange, some pinks, a white-pink pearlescent (and I belive sheer) shade, and some other colors, so what we've all seen at the various pharmacies is not the full line. And a funny note, for the past two (or is it now 3?) weeks all the Walgreens I've visited have had the entire line of Rimmel polish at $1.99 a bottle, all shades (some only have certain shades tagged, but the untagged ones ring up at $1.99 also), and they've continued that price into this week's 50% off Rimmel sale (they've kept the $1.99 tags on the displays), so I officially have no idea what the price is. Oh, and I saw a display for a new l/e Maybelline mascara with glitter (I think it's either The Colossal or New York Volume, not sure) and some l/e eyeshadow duos, the display has a $1.00 off coupon for any Maybelline eye product.

  15. Hi Recessionista! I actually have that Milani The Perfect Red lipstick (bought it weeks ago when my CVS first got the promotional display) and I have to say that while I didn't like it initially because it showed up as a crazily pigmented scarlet red, I like it much better now. I had expected it to be a sheer lipstick, but all you have to wait a bit for the color to adjust and settle. For me, it turns from that garish bright red to a softer berry red shade. Can't wait to read your review and see what you think about it!

  16. Thanks for the info, I know Kmart had BOGOF on MIlano this week was gonna take advantage of that to try the Liquify eyeliners and get the Rose Hip lipstick and the new gloss in that blue color to give it all a try. I love Milani so I sure will be heading to CVS first because that new lipstick looks right up my alley. I love me red lippies.

  17. Oh wow wow wow i need to try that red lipstick! I've seen a similar thing by a high end brand and wanted to try it, but this would be so much better! I need to find somewhere that will sell me Milani.

  18. My local CVS is behind on the times, but I'm still glad you posted this. I took off as soon as I read this. They finally had the Milani Holos in. I have been waiting on those suckers for months. I only got the green since I have a holo in every other color, so I grabbed one of the neon polishes because of the bogo sale.
I also bought some of those Maybelline Shineburst glosses since the Maybelline products were bogo 1/2 off.
(My cvs doesn't have the coupon scanner. But I did have $5 Extra bucks on a reciept from Feb. so that was great!)

  19. Cha-ching! I hit the jackpot with the CVS slot machine today thanks to this post. I ran over there on my lunch break and scanned my card. Out came my Milani coupon. So I got 2 eyeshadow palettes for $5.30!!!! That's less than the regular price for 1!!! I'm surely going to try another location tomorrow and see what else I can score. Thank you so much!!!

  20. Thank you SO MUCH about the Milani coupon :* So far I picked up 2 of the holo polishes in 3D and Digital. Gonna try my luck at some other CVS's today. This is better than going to Biloxi!

  21. whee! Got the liquid eye liner in purple and Neon nail polish in Rad Purple for $4.73. And even sweeter, I had a gift card from transferring a prescription, so it was a totally free good deal! Thank you for posting this!

  22. I went yesterday to get some Milani 3D polishes and I scanned my card at the slot machine and received a coupon for... $1 off CVS brand paper towels. :( I was very upset. Gonna try again today though

  23. I got the coupon and also a coupon for $3 off a Borghese polish! I decided to pick up two runway palettes. I have been dying to try them but did not want to shell out the $9. The funny thing is that the cashier gave me a hard time. I've never had that happen to me at a CVS. During the clearance sale I had a few L'oreal coupons and I got a few things practically for free. I've also used coupons on things that were BOGO, and never had a problem. So, I think the guy was just having a bad day. He told me that you could not use coupons on items that were already on sale. I told him I always had in the past. So, he said he would let it slid this time...Either way I got two palettes for $5 and change and I love them, the colors are gourgeous!

  24. I went to CVS yesterday hoping for a Milani coupon, but got coupons for CVS paper towels and toothbrushes. :P Being ever hopeful, I went to a different location, but got a message that there were no coupons available. Thinking it might be a fluke, I went back today, got the same coupons as yesterday - went to different location, got the "no more available" message. What gives? :S Am I doing something wrong?

  25. Sarah! I know what you mean about the CVS brand coupons. Yesterday, i went to the CVS closest to my house and when I scanned my card, it said it couldn't print out coupons for me. I would have been very bummed if i had gotten the same ones I got on Wednesday. I'm going to try one more time today.

  26. My local CVS did this too! I got 2 of the 3D Glitzy lip glosses for $3.50! They were $6.99, and of course there was the BOGO50%, but instead of deducting the 50% off price, they deducted the full amount!
