What do Mad Men, Degree deodorant and red dresses have in common?

I am a HUGE fan of the TV series Mad Men (how can you resist the brooding Don Draper and that smooth 60s style?).  So when Degree Deodorant recently contacted me about "Dare to Make a Statement", I jumped at the chance to promote it.

Here's the deal: Christina Hendricks (the amazing Joan Holloway on Mad Men) would like us to decide which beautiful red gown she's going to wear to the SAG Awards (this Saturday, Jan. 23 at 8PM on TNT).  If you click on the badge below, you can vote for the dress you'd like her to wear, and each vote helps support Degree Women Ultra Clear's donation of $50,000 to Clothes Off Our Back, an organization that hosts charity auctions showcasing celebrity attire and raises money to help improve the lives of woman and children across the globe.

But it doesn't end there! Each person who votes will have an opportunity to receive a Degree product coupon, and also be entered for a chance to win some stylish swag!

Click this badge to view the dresses and cast your vote:

After the SAG Awards, Christina Hendricks' red dress (the one selected by you, the voters) will be auctioned off by Clothes Off Our Back on ClothesOffOurBack.org.

One click can make all the different in the lives of others who need our help, so please take a moment to vote. I'll be putting the badge at top of my homepage until this Saturday so if you don't have time to vote now, you can always do it a little later.

PS: If you vote, please leave a comment on this post and let us know which dress you picked (my vote went to "Classic Romance").

  1. I LOVE Mad Men! Don's ok but he's not my favorite. Strangely enough (or not) I like Pete more...I used to think he was a complete ass but he's grown on me. And Peggy...well, she's my girl :D

I voted for Classic Romance as well.

  3. Mimsy: Yay!! You know, I like Pete's character (totally agree that he grew up A LOT) but Don is just waaaaay nice to look at (but so darn evil). lol. And Peggy--totally my girl too! :)

Shela: That's super pretty too, but something about that Classic Romance dress...I'm just totally drawn to it. lol. :)

  5. I haven't gotten a chance to watch Mad Men. I've seen clips and it looks good. The clothes on that show are amazing. I also read an article about the prop master for Mad Men. That guy has a great job.

I vote for Classic Romance. I love old school style. Grecian Goddess would have been my second choice. It's very classic.

  6. I had to go Classic Romance... she'll look amazing! :) I'm totally addicted to Mad Men and am playing with the idea of throwing a themed party for the finale this year. Don't you think it'd be fun to see all your friends all sleek and stylish? ~Liz~

  8. Did anyone notice the fine print at the bottom of the site, which said that regardless of how people voted, Turner Broadcasting had the final decision? I would think that the three dress choices would be pre-approved by Turner before the voting site went live.

Regardless, I think this is a cool fundraising/PR idea. I voted for Grecian Goddess, but liked Classic Romance too.

  9. mnvink: That's definitely a beautiful gown as well. :)

Melody: I cannot recommend this show enough. Definitely rent the DVDs (that's how I watched it because I came to discover this show late in the game). It's so addicting that I'm willing to bet you'll watch the seasons back to back as quickly as you can. lol!

Liz! OMG, I have got to get in a plug for my gals over at We Heart This, who actually devoted an entire week to Mad Men a while back, including this post on how to throw a Mad Men party:

    http://weheartthis.com/2009/08/11/how-to-have-a-mad-men-theme-party/

I can't wait to hear how it goes if you do this! :)

    beautifulmonday: That's a great choice--very sleek and sophisticated! :)

    princess azure: Sooo pretty!

Elocina: I didn't notice that! I'm wondering if that's sort of a safety clause in case, say, something happens to the winning dress (it gets torn, stained, etc.) so saying something like that prevents her from having to wear a damaged dress just because we voted for it? lol. I never understand how these things work but that's my theory. :) And yes, I think it's a great fundraising/PR idea as well--I LOVE the Mad Men tie-in! :)
