Follow-up to the baby wipes challenge...

A while back I wrote a post about how I was considering using baby wipes to remove my makeup in place of more expensive facial cloths such as my favorite Pond's Clean Sweep Towelettes.

Well here's my follow-up!

I purchased Huggies Natural Care Baby Wipes Fragrance Free with Aloe & E at Walgreens when they were having a 2 for $5 sale. I mean, how can you not consider using these when you get 80 wipes for $2.50 vs. the Pond's which are 30 count for $5.69 at Drugstore.com?

I've been using the Huggies wipes about 2-3 nights a week since April 1st (yes, half of each week I'm too tired or lazy to wash my face at night!). Here's my honest opinion: The Huggies are fantastic in terms of the size of the wipe (vs. the size of a Pond's wipe). It's literally almost double the size. Also, I love that these are fragrance-free. The downside is that it takes me about 2 cloths to clean my face when I use Huggies. It's not that these don't have the power to remove my makeup, because they do (including my Revlon ColorStay foundation!). It's just that the first wipe in the box tends to dry out because part of it is sticking out of the box a little (but still covered by the lid). Any of you with kids probably understand exactly what I mean. So that first wipe doesn't really get all of my makeup off. So I use the first semi-dry wipe to get the first "layer" off, but then I need to follow up with a second, wetter wipe to really get everything removed (including mascara). Also, it's a little more challenging to remove mascara with Huggies (and I don't use waterproof mascara) because well, they're not intended for that use.

So after using two cloths, my face is completely clean (I've even done the "toner test" just to make sure and my cotton ball was clean as a whistle). So I guess it's still a good bargain since I can get 40 makeup removals for $2.50 vs. 30 makeup removals for $5.69.

Also good to know: Huggies do not break me out in the slightest, and the way my face feels after I use them is fantastic. Not dry or tight, just nice and clean.

Final analysis: I would recommend these to women who do not use a lot of makeup to begin with, and definitely not waterproof mascara. Huggies would be great on a light makeup day, or even just on a day when you're not wearing makeup at all and just want to feel refreshed.

Also, the boyfriend loves using Huggies on his face too when we're sitting on the couch after a long day (he's gonna be pretty embarrassed that I just told you that).

  1. Have you tried the Walmart makeup removing wipes? If you buy the tub, you get 60 wipes with it for around 4 bucks. Then you can get two refill packs (120 wipes) for around 5. They aren't all that wet, but I just keep the tub turned upside down and it works great!

  2. Kirkland Daily Facial Cleansing Towelettes from Costco has 150 wipes for around $12. And the lid snaps shut so the wipes don't dry out!

  3. Hey Trisha!
I never thought about turning the tub upside-down. That is a great idea! Thanks :)

    Hi Alexandra!
Wow that's a great deal...I might have to renew my Costco membership :) Thanks!

  4. LOL, I also use baby wipes. I do buy the ones for sensitive skin (alcohol free or very low amount of) because of my dry cheeks. I always use cleanser (creamy or oily) sometimes b4, others after using the wipes. It depends if I am using my Revlon Colorstay makeup.

  5. Hey Beda! Wow, you use cleanser before or after you use the wipes? Your face must feel so clean afterwards. What type of cleanser do you use?

  7. Hey Gloria! Thanks so much :) I hope your sis likes the info and that it makes her a little more inclined to use a towelette before bed. Please tell her she's not alone!

  8. I don't use the little pop up hole. I open up the whole box it dosen't allow for as much dry out!

  9. Hi Heather! OMG, that is such a great idea! Wow! Now that I think about it, it's so obvious but it honestly never occurred to me! Thank you so much--I'm doing this from now on :)
