The Lipstick League - Week of 1.11.15

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

If you purchased any beauty products over the holidays (those sales!), how are those products working for you now that you've had them for a few weeks?

G's answer: I'm ashamed to say that many of the products I purchased for myself over the holidays are still in their packaging, awaiting some play time (but that's only because I'm busy testing other products for review on the blog right now). One item that I have opened and used is Femme Rochas perfume, which I purchased at Target when they were having that sale and discount code a while back. I had been wanting that perfume ever since I read the reviews on Fragrantica, but it was a complete fail for me. Sadly, there's a cumin note in that perfume that is very pronounced on my skin, and it gives the overall fragrance a strong "body odor" note on me. I'm so bummed, because I know that fragrance works quite well for others. With my body chemistry, it's a disaster.

  1. I'm almost embarrased to say how many MAC palettes I bought. Oh heck, I'll say it anyway. I bought Amber x 9, the Neutral holiday eye set( price matched on Nordstrom thank you very much), and the big MAC brown palette. I've used them all and the MAC holiday eye set I got last year too( just broke it out this year). I LURVE MAC. No matter how many eyeshadows I try, I keep going back to MAC. I also used the RICKY's Gilt city and bought a bunch of LA Splash long lasting lip colors( smitten lip tints?). I love those too. They last on me all freaking day.

  2. I bought items from both end of the affordability spectrum. One one hand I headed to bath and body works during their semi annual sale (during which you could get 3.50 body lotions) but on the other hand I spent 25 dollars on a face mask at Sephora. I use the cheaper items more frequently, but i really love my splurge items

  3. I bought a Tarte set from QVC that I don't find myself reaching for. I also got a Too Face set from HSN. I do like the blush and I find myself using the Better Than Sex mascara alot. Most of my purchases on beauty things have been since NYE since the stores around me didn't put new things out til then.

  4. I bought a Tarte holiday set that I've yet to use and the UD x Gwen Stefani palette that I've been using every day. I work at BBW and bought some Vanilla Bean Noel body care that I've been using almost daily, love that scent :)

  5. I got a chance to buy the Twisted Peppermint Liplicious lip gloss at Bath & Body Works. I went back after Christmas to find out their holiday stuff have been wiped clean! I was glad that I got it when I did. It smells, feels, and looks AMAZING. The peppermint scent, the sticky long-lasting moisture (this one is more sticky than other Liplicious lip glosses I own), and the beautiful sparkles that look gorgeous in certain lighting! I haven't used it much because I'm trying not to use it up too soon. Plus I have a whole bunch of other lip products to use up.

  6. Too bad Femme Rochas didn't work out! It's one of my favorites but I can see how it could turn unpleasant, it's got that, hmm, kind of intimate smell to it. Check out Agent Provocateur L'Agent, if you haven't already. It's got that old school sexy vibe but a bit more wearable.
