About That Sephora VIB Code...


I've been getting a lot of questions over the past few days about that Sephora code I posted about last week, so I wanted to take a moment to address your questions.

First, if you missed my post last week, Sephora VIBs and VIB Rouge members can use code V436CB for 10% off sitewide on the Sephora website (this is valid toward an entire order, not just a single item).

As I mentioned in my previous post, this code has been around since 2014 (perhaps even before then, but the earliest reference I could find online was from 2014). Historically, VIB and VIB Rouge members have been able to use this code ONCE A YEAR (that's once per calendar year). This has been confirmed by many, many readers who used this code last year, as well as in 2014.

HOWEVER, I'm hearing from several of you who have received emails recently when you hit VIB status, and those emails contained this code. In those emails, I'm hearing that it states that this code is only valid for 30 days, starting on the day that you hit VIB status. I have also heard from some readers who have told me that other bloggers have posted that this code expires on February 11th, 2016.

I cannot tell you definitively if the expiration date for this code has changed for 2016. What I CAN tell you is that his code has been valid for use ONCE PER CALENDAR YEAR for the past few years. If you are concerned and don't want to push your luck, use the code before February 11th. If you don't have anything you want to order between now and February 11th, or you want to take a shot and see if the code works beyond that date, then go for it. Again, I have no way of knowing if this code will be just like with previous years (valid for one use per calendar year), until someone tries to use it on February 12th and reports back. But I want to give you all of that info that I can at this point, to help you make a decision.

  1. My VIb email said 30 days, but I'm going to try it in February because I'm on a no-buy. Hopefully it works.

  4. I was in-store when I hit VIB and they gave me a booklet of silver cards with a 10% off, a free shipping, and a makeover services card. I remember the salesgirl telling me that they say they expire but they actually work all year, so maybe that is true?

    1. I got the what sounds like the same exact cards in the mail when I hit VIB in December, and I got an e-mail reminding me that the 10% offer was expiring a couple of weeks ago, so I went ahead and used it. That's kind of goofy if it's not really expiring!

  5. Yes, that was the case for me last yr. save it for a special bug purchase. Ignore the 30day expiration date it says on the card

  6. When I made VIB last summer, I had my free makeover and said I was on a no buy until the fall and the Sephora staff indicated the 30 day limit is just there for show and the code will work beyond that date.

  7. I am VIB Rouge, I have never used this code. I just tried to use it and got (Your Beauty Insider status is not eligible for this offer).

  9. I just got that message too. It's weird because when I tried using it (but I didn't) two weeks ago, it applied to my checkout but now it won't work. :-(

  12. I'm VIB ROUGE & the code just worked for me tonight. I've been rouge for 2 years & had never heard of this code before. They didn't send me any coupon, email, nothing... I think it's pretty strange for Sephora to keep this a secret, considering the money I spend with them! Thanks for sharing the code.
