A little sappy, mushy Christmas message, from me to you

Just a quick note to say that I wish all of you who celebrate a very, very Merry Christmas! I hope you're enjoying time with family and friends, and if you're alone this year due to circumstance or choice, I hope you take some time to pamper yourself  and take care of yourself (give yourself a pedi--that's what I'll probably do tonight because honestly? I have really neglected my feet this winter, but why am I sharing that right now? Sorry...)

Both of my parents are sick right now (one has a cold, the other the flu) so it's turned everything a bit upside down for us this year. We're postponing Christmas until they feel better, so don't be surprised if you see a post or two from me tomorrow, if I've got some downtime and want to avoid having to look at all sorts of Christmas presents that I can't open!

Mr. G and I are off to make sure my parents have everything they need (chicken soup, etc.) and tuck them into their warm beds. I know this sounds kind of creepy, but when you go to sleep tonight, I wish I could tuck YOU into your warm bed, just as a way of saying thank you for reading this blog, supporting what I do here and being the best readers any blogger on the planet could ever dream of having.  I truly consider you all my friends, and I hope that you think of me as a friend as well (I can be "that crazy friend who's a little too obsessed with makeup but means well." I'm fine with that!)

I say this from the bottom of my heart:

YOU are what keeps me going here. Whatever is going on in my life, I know that I can come here and surround myself with the most kind, generous, brilliant and funny people I have ever met on the internet. Sharing time with YOU is my escape and my passion and this blog would not exist without you. Please don't ever forget that and, most importantly, don't ever forget how much I value you and how grateful I am to have you in my life.

All my love now and always,
G. xo

  1. Dearest G,

You will always have my friendship and love as well, not only because of what you do on this blog, but more so for the beautiful person you are inside.

The best gift I could give you (I believe)is my wish that your parents fully recover very, very soon. Also that you and Mr. G have a wonderful, happy and healthy new year.

    Always,
    Isis

You have become that friend that can help ease my guilt of addiction to makeup by getting some of them at a cheaper price:) The community that has been created here is really amazing. I know,i know, it's just make up, but it matters to me- us and am happy we can all share our love for it. 21. Awww G, you are soo sweet! I hope your parents get to feeling better pronto. I love your blog and really appreciate all that you do in getting this out there. I come here too sometimes for beauty advice and reviews on a specific product, sometimes for a break from the daily grind where I can get an escape from the harsh realities, and sometimes just for fun. 24. Aww...G! With posts like these, I really have to come out of lurking status. (It's sillylilacs from WAY back when if you still remember :p I have decided to come out of my study caves and return to the blogging world.)

THIS is why I've always followed your blog through all these years, you're amazingly genuine and just...ugh! <3

Hope mama G and papa G will feel better soon! Get Tamiflu from doctor if possible so one doesn't get flu from the other. Flu sucks. :(

Merry (postponed) Christmas to your family! Be happy! Be healthy! And looking forward to seeing those posts! :)

  33. Awww...G! Your blog is one of my absolute favorite escapes too! I felt sooo lucky when I stumbled upon it through some link from a website on how to save money. Not only is it well-written, informative, and thorough, but it's so personable too! I find drugstore shopping more fun and less daunting since I've read your site. And it's all due to you! Thank you for being so wonderful!

I hope your parents feel better soon! Merry Christmas!

  34. I'm so sorry your parents are sick. I'm glad it's nothing serious tho. I hope you had a good day anyways and thank you for the info you give on your blog. I appreciate the valuable resource that it is. I tend to buy higher end and drugstore and I enjoy finding a good deal and seeing others who enjoy makeup as well as I do since the women in my family don't. Merry Christmas!!!
