BREAKING BEAUTY NEWS: Wet n Wild Acapulco Glow is BACK!

VERY exciting news to share with my fellow Wet n Wild fans today! I just received this info directly from my contact at Wet n Wild and I have to say, it totally made my day!

The iconic and long-ago discontinued bronzer, Acapulco Glow, is BACK under a new name with new, snazzy packaging:

Wet n Wild  Bronzer SPF15 in Reserve Your Cabana

I have been told directly by Wet n Wild that this shade is in fact Acapulco Glow, only with a new name. WHOO HOO!

This is a Walgreens and CVS exclusive product, meaning you won't be able to find it anywhere but Walgreens and CVS stores.

You have no idea how happy this makes me--in fact, after it was discontinued back in 2009, I went on the hunt for a dupe and the closest I ever came was this. But now there's no need for any dupes because IT'S BACK, BABY! This is by far my most favorite bronzer shade ever (really it's more of a highlighter and delivers such a warm, beautiful glow to the skin). And I'm excited to see it in new packaging with the addition of SPF15 to boot!

I'm working on a post covering all of the other new Wet n Wild products hitting stores, so please stay tuned for that. Also, I know that some of you have already spotted this product in the new Wet n Wild end cap at Walgreens--I'll be posting pics of that display soon in case you haven't seen it.

In the meantime, are you excited about the return of Acapulco Glow (aka Reserve Your Cabana)?

  1. I never used Acapulco Glow, but after seeing swatches online, I was so sad I didn't get the chance to try it myself! I will definitely be picking this up when I see it, I'm excited to finally get my hands on it!

  2. I didn't know this was a re-promote (in a sense), but I spotted this today at Walgreens!

  3. Wow your swatch of acapulco glow really makes it look like a beautiful highlighter for summer! I've been looking for a nice highlighter recently so I will be keeping an eye out for this!

  4. Anyone know how this looks on deeper, tan skin? I'm Hispanic and a lot of bronzers don't show up very well on my skin :( The color looks beautiful so I'd like to try it!

  5. M.: I seem to remember seeing some swatches back in the day of this product on deeper skintones and if my memory serves me correctly, it gives a very pretty, subtle, warm glow to the skin. More of a highlighter than a bronzer. Hope that helps!

  6. It's definitely a highlighter rather than a bronzer on me, and I am paler than most drugstore foundations' lightest. Glad to see it back, though I'm sure I'll never run out of mine! The one I realllllly want to see back is the All Over Shimmer 832D, which was dc'd ages ago and which I'm running out of. Favorite highlighter ever!!

  8. I'll have to see the ingredients list before I get excited. I need to find out if the SPF 15 is chemical or mineral.

    *sigh*

  9. OOh, I'm really excited about this since I never got to try the original Acapulco Glow. I generally don't wear bronzer since I'm so pale, but I hope this will be a good highlight for me in the summer. Maybe I can wait til then to try this ;).

  10. Awesome! When I picked it up last week my thought was that it looked really similar. Sadly, I shattered it yesterday while moving :(

  11. Looks beautiful! I have the LA Colors shadow, I'll have to play with it a bit to see if I want to pick up the bronzer!

  12. Is this the new Ticket to Brazil (or similar name??) If so, I just bought this :D

  13. I have this! Recently, I'd been lusting after the Acapulco swatches on this site...little did I know that I had the product newly added to my stash! It's the creamiest, most blendable, most natural hilight I own. Looove it!

  14. I was too excited and did not see the name, i picked up the wrong one, but i like it, so i will go back for this one tomorrow :)

  15. I actually tweeted you right before you updated about your Mom telling you about this when I got it. With a picture. I didn't know it had been released before! Man I am out of the loop!

  16. I just had it in my hands a few hrs ago and thought, hmmm what the heck is this light bronzer? maaaan... wish i had seen this before putting it back down. ill get it tomorrow haha

  17. I'm glad to see this again, since I only discovered swatches after hearing it had been discontinued. I've always been wary of bronzers since I'm SO pale, but this looks like it would be a great peacy-champagne glowy product... my only gripe is that it's *round*. I'm really not a fan of round powders, since I tend to depot and put powder products into palettes for ease in carting them around.

  18. Pretty exciting! I'll have to look for it. Not sure if you can mention this to your W&W contact, but the store finder does not work on the website - no matter what zipcode I put in, I get Puerto Rico! I don't have any CVS's that sell W&W around here, so the store finder would be helpful if it worked!

  19. I am excited to read this! Also glad that it going to be at Wags too! Hope to get some of this before I head out on vacation in a couple of weeks! :)

  20. Hmmmm.... I hope Wet n Wild will include Canadian customers this time and broaden the availablity to Canada (as we don't have Walgreens or CVS). So often I read about these wonderful sounding products only to discover they aren't available in
    Canada.

  21. Hmmm.... I wonder if Wet n' Wild will distribute this product in Canada? So often I read about a lovely product only to discover that WnW has not been made available to Canadian customers.

  22. Stacey, I just get Puerto Rico too!

  23. I'm going to have to try this...the only thing I'm worried about is if this bronzer is too light for me. I saw some of the earlier swatches on Nouveau Cheap, and it looks really shimmer, almost silvery. And I'm about an NC30, so I'm worried it's going to look like I have something shiny on my face! Right now, my HG bronzer is the Too Faced Sun Bunny bronzer (mine is in the older packaging). The left side looks really similar to Acapulco Glow, but the right is darker, and I swirl the two for a really lovely shade.

  24. May I ask what the sunscreen active ingredient is?

  25. It's great to see Acapulco Glow back, I still have the old Bronzzer compact. If this new one's CVS/Walgreens-exclusive, though, I'm sure if Canada's even getting this, let alone having it exlusive to one store.

  26. I just ran out and bought it. I am disappointed because it looks nothing like your swatches of the discontinued one.

  27. I've never heard of this product before (shocker! I know, since it seems to be a hit) but I wanted to know why they would change the name? Wouldn't it be easier to kept the old name, that way old fans would know it's rereleased? (Those who may not check the internet or research)

  28. I totally agree with HeatherKelley. One of the compacts at my Walgreens was open (obviously swatched by someone before me) and so I swatched it too, to see if it was just as shimmery and beautiful as it is in your swatches. It is definitely NOT. It seemed really chalky and not luminous at all. In fact, it seemed nothing like a highlighter/bronzer and more like a pressed powder, but a bad one. I'm really disappointed. :(

  29. I have to agree that the one I bought is chalky and even though I see some shimmer in the compact, it doesn't seem to translate onto my skin.

  30. I'm sorry to say it was chalky on me too :( The day G posted about this I went out and found Reserve Your Cabana at Walgreens, but when I applied it to my face I got none of the shimmery goodness. I have medium skin with yellow undertones and it just sat there and looked unnatural. I took it back, and I'm hoping to find something that looks as good on my skin as Acapulco Glow did on hers.

  31. Same here, ran out and bought it and it's very chalky on me. It brought out wrinkles I didn't even know I had! I thought I was doing something wrong, glad to know it's not just me! Also, the second you swirl a brush across the product, a TON of powder comes off. My counters were covered!

  32. im glad im not the only one this happened to , i was hoping for the beautiful shimmer that i saw but got nothing , its exactly my skin tone, like a pressed powder . i thought there was something wrong with my eyes lol i ran all over the house for diff light even went outside and nothing . kinda dissapointed , i usualy wait for sales to purchase makeup and i just ran out and got this w.o thinking twice . i dust it all ovevr my face just so it wont go to waste :(

  33. I just picked this up a few days ago and it shattered in my purse :( It's really pretty but way to fragile, I won't be repurchasing.

  34. Hii! i was so excited for this, but then when i saw that it was only exclusive to a couple stores i was disapointed since i live in canada... BUT yesterday i went to Dollarama (the canadian dollar store) i found a lot of wet n wild products. there were lots of thier old bronzers, so i decided to dig around to look for acapulco glow and i found it! there were also a lot of other products like eyeshadow duos and cream illuminators. hope i helped all the canadian beauty junkies looking for acapulco glow :D

  35. I totally agree with Heatherelley and Mimi...I bought this because the swatches on here looked so beautiful, but in real life it looks very flat, like a cheap pressed powder. It's very chalky and blah. Reserve your Cabana does not look at luminous as the swatches of Acapulco Glow.

  36. The other 2 shades are gorgeous as well. I agree with some users here, it is a tad bit chalky, so not really impressed, however can't beat for the price and just use these light handed. My fav...Ticket To Brazil!!!! Must have..nice shade!

  37. Here's a free laugh for you at my expense: I was just at Walgreen's after reading your article about the WnW bronzer. I was looking for a product with the name WHOO HOO! (Read your sentence and see how I came to this conclusion) Oh my gosh, I had the "Reserve my Cabana" in my hand.....! Well, lots of mu companies give their products kooky names, right??! (-;

    ReplyDelete
  38. Aw, man, does this mean the current Reserve Your Cabana is no longer gonna be around?
