Wet n Wild Night Elf palette: more MAC dupes (and an eye look)

Since October, I think I've written 10+ posts about these limited edition Wet n Wild Pixie Holiday palettes, and I have a feeling there are more to come because, well, let's face it: they're awesome!

But I recently realized that I have yet to do a post on the Night Elf palette (arguably the most popular and coveted of the four) including swatches of every color, and of course, an eye look. But guess what? I also found two more MAC dupes in this palette (click here and here if you missed the previous ones) so I'm throwing those in this post too.

Bottom line, if you had to choose just one palette to get from the Pixie Holiday collection, my vote goes to Night Elf. I think it contains the most unique and prettiest shades of all the palettes, and I also think that so many of these shades work for a variety of skintones, making it beautiful and versatile. For $4.99 it's a STEAL.

Now I'd like to show you an eye look I did using five of the six shades in this palette (longtime readers: you know I rarely if ever use more than two or three shades per eye look, so this was a big deal for me!):

For this look I used the following shades in the Night Elf palette:
red on lids
brown w/ teal flash (MAC Club dupe) in crease
black with silver sparkle in outer "V"
medium beige/brown (MAC Vex dupe) on upper crease and blended up
light cream on brow bone

Basically I used every shade but the silver for this look, and I'm very pleased with how it turned out. For those of you who might be afraid to wear red on your eyes, I hope this helps take the intimidation out of it for you! Red can be very wearable if you limit it to just your lids, and use lots of neutrals and earthtones around it!

Next, I'd like to show you my latest MAC dupe discoveries in the Night Elf palette:

You can see that these are not exact dupes, but on the eyes, the difference is so marginal that I think you'll be the only one who can tell them apart.  The buttery cream shade in the Night Elf palette looks so much like MAC Nylon in the pan it's hard to tell them apart. But once the Night Elf shade is swatched, you can see that it goes from a buttery cream to a whiter shade. But when I put both shades on, it's really hard to tell them apart when they're on my eyes.

As for the silver shade in the Night Elf palette and MAC Electra, it's clear that the Night Elf shade has a touch more green in it while MAC  Electra has a touch more blue, but in person they look extremely similar.

So there you have it. I think I've written enough posts about the Night Elf palette to have you either lusting after it or sick of hearing about it!

Do you own Night Elf? What do you think of it?

  3. This is wonderful. I could not, for the life of me, see how the red was going to look good on anyone. I wondered why they included it.

But the combo you did looks really great!

  8. looks great on you! I saw night elf at my grocery store and I passed up on it (there was several of them oddly enough). I just don't like shimmer but I think it's a great quad with unique colors.

  9. I was super excited to see a tiny WnW display a couple weeks ago in my Walgreens, and while there was the purple one and snow sprite in stock as well, all I let myself buy was the night elf one. I normally don't wear browns, but oh that club dupe! It's really the reason I bought it.

  10. Night Elf is my personal fave from all of the Pixie Palettes. It really does have the most interesting shades. I'm so boring because my favorite shade is that MAC Vex dupe. I've been wearing it everyday for a week now.
You're eye makeup look is beautiful! You do take the intimidating out of red eyeshadow!

  14. The MAC Vex dupe (middle left) has quickly become my favorite lid shade lately!! I have been using it on my inner 1/3 of the lid and then a warm matte brown on the outer v and it looks so great! In fact, my in-laws told me that my eyemakeup looked amazing the other day when I wore this combo. Plus it reallly brings out my blue eyes! Love it!!

  19. I have the Night Elf palette, I finally got my hands on it last week. I have actually worn red shadow before (from my 88 palette) and I liked it just fine. I'm a brown skinned african-american girl and I'll try any color once. It's all in the application. The goal is to not look like a clown. I wear greens, yellows, blues, pinks, whatever my mood calls for. I have all 4 palettes and Golden Goddes and Night Elf are my faves for sure.

  22. I did pick this up and I'm so glad I did! I haven't used the red yet, but I'm glad you did this look. WnW is 50% off at Wags this week, which I didn't know yesterday when I went in there. I found a Night Elf palette and stuck it behind some other products so I could get it later for my friend. I hope it's still there when I go back today!
