The Wednesday Question

It's time again for the Wednesday Question! I absolutely love reading your responses to my questions so please feel free to answer this one--the more the merrier!

What is the one splurge-worthy beauty product that you will always purchase for yourself, no matter the cost?

Is there a product in your arsenal that makes your wallet say "Ouch!" but makes your heart sing? Do you save room in your budget for a special item that costs a lot but delivers like no lower-priced product can? Have you been unable to find a low-cost dupe so you just keep buying "the real thing" because you can't bear to be without it? Tell me, tell me!

I always splurge on foundation (Mac).

I love the full coverage of their foundations. I don't care how much it cost lol...I have to look good:)

i've been thinking so hard for an answer! but i'm so cheap and there's nothing i constantly splurge on lol. if anything, its handbags for me. but i might begin doing that with an Estee Lauder concealer i've just started using. thank God i haven't bought anything from MAC yet...i hear the obsession is permanent! :)

Hey Caramel Diva! I totally know what you mean. When you find a foundation that totally works for you, sometimes it doesn't matter if you have to pay a bit extra for it, right?

Hey giz89! Hey, there is absolutely nothing wrong with the fact that you don't have a product you need to splurge on! In fact, that's a great thing! :)

A couple of things...

skin care. I love philosophy purity & the microdelivery wash and good skin is worth every freaking penny I have to spend on it.

concealer!!! A concealer that can cover up the red spots on my face that are left behind by acne is worth its weight in GOLD. I have sensitive skin and am extremely hard to match (very pale). MUFE full cover is expensive but lasts a long time and totally worth it. Now that I think about it, their HD foundation is like that for me too. :)

Hey Alyson! Good ones. I would pay just about any price if I knew a concealer was going to cover all my flaws. lol. I loooove MAC Studio Finish concealer (been using it for probably 10 yrs now) but lately I've started using Revlon ColorStay (wand) concealer and I really like it but the coverage isn't *quite* as good as with the MAC. I might have to bite the bullet and splurge for what I know works for me.

Hm, that's really hard to say. Probably my shampoo and conditioner. I currently use Tigi's Superstar, which is a sulfate free shampoo and conditioner that's great for my semi-colored hair.

I used to swear by MAC studio fix and moisture fix until I found some awesome mineral makeup foundations that actually match my skintone (I loved my MAC but it was too dark for me, I'm paler than NW15/NC15).

Hey Phyrra! I totally understand your struggle. Haircare is definitely something that, when you find something that works, you've got to stick with it!

I'm glad you found a good MMU to match your skintone. I wonder why MAC doesn't work on developing a lighter shade than NW/NC15. I hear this complaint from fair-skin girls all the time!

Yeah, I don't know why they haven't either. In mineral makeup, I'm still normally the palest shade. In Aromaleigh I wear 1CL mixed with Alabaster (their white) to lighten it. In Meow I wear Inquisitive Siamese (their lightest shade). In Purely Cosmetics I wear Fair Maiden (which can be a touch too dark at times but makes my skin look sooooooo good). In Fyrinnae I actually don't wear the lightest shade, but darn close, as I wear Moonstone.

It was a sad day when I realized I needed to give up on MAC because the difference in my skintone and what I was buying just looked too bad. I feel like MAC is very high quality and worth every penny for the Moisture Fix or the Studio Fix.

Hey Phyrra! Wow, I think it's wonderful that you have been able to find at least 4 good matches for your skintone from other brands! I totally agree--MAC is great quality but you know what? I used Studio Fix for about 5 years straight without interruption but then someone suggested I try Prestige's powder foundation and can you believe I like it better? I've been using it ever since! For me personally, Studio Fix can get cakey and look too heavy. I don't know...it's great but there are sooo many other good products out there. :)

Yeah, and I never would have tried if I hadn't been so tired of having my foundation be too dark.

I'm very happy to have found matches in mineral makeup, especially since it's less expensive than MAC :)
