Revlon Limited Edition Photoready Insta-Fix Contouring & Highlighting Duos
(retail: $16.99 per set at Bed Bath & Beyond)
Revlon has launched some new limited edition highlight & contour sets, which are now popping up at Bed Bath & Beyond (I would expect these to be everywhere soon). Thanks so much to reader @msqueenbee617 on Instagram for kindly sharing the pic above of the display she spotted recently in-store.
I enlarged/cropped @msqueenbee617's pic a bit for a closer look:

To be clear, the ONLY truly new thing in these duos is the highlighting stick. The Photoready Insta-Fix Makeup stick is an existing core product that launched in 2014.

I don't know how I feel about these duos, really. I never tried the Insta-Fix makeup sticks when they first launched in 2014, but I sort of wish that Revlon would have made true contour sticks for these special limited edition duos, instead of repackaging the makeup sticks. Also, the price seems a bit steep at $16.99, and that's the BB&B price (BB&B is quite competitive with pricing; I'm guessing these duos will be closer to $19.99 when they land in drugstores). What are your thoughts?
Thanks again, @msqueenbee617, for the great sighting and pic!
At first I was so confused when I saw that the display said "contouring" because I thought...it's just the foundation stick, how is that going to contour? But I bought one of these in the lightest option (Fair) and found that they included a darker foundation stick inside (it's more of a medium shade in the Fair kit) which made a little more sense. So if anyone is planning on purchasing this, I just want to warn you that the foundation inside will likely be too dark to use it all over your face, especially if you buy some of the lighter kits.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen! That's very good to know. I still think it would have been nice if they made actual contour sticks for these sets (vs. repackaging/re-purposing the makeup sticks) but I'm glad they did include deeper shades so that you can actually contour with them! :)
DeleteI saw it at Duane Reade (NYC store) and it was $20.00. I skipped it because I rarely highlight or counter. It also seemed hard to pick the correct shade for me since they range from fair to deep and I couldn't tell how medium or deep would look on me.
ReplyDeleteIf you want to highlight on the "cheap". Elf color stick in persimmon is amazing and its 1.00.
DeleteYeah It is way too expensive... $19.99 I pass!!
DeleteRevlon's prices are getting ridiculous. First that eye, lip & cheek palette that was $17.99 or more and now this for upwards of $20? Who do they think they are? I'll pass!
ReplyDeleteYEP I got mine at HEB and it was 19.99 and I agree they should've come with true contour sticks instead of repackaging the regular makeup sticks from a previous release
ReplyDeleteWhoa! They have to be kidding with the price point on these. I don't think so, Revlon!
ReplyDeleteI bought one just out of curiosity and totally regret it! Absolutely nothing special! There are so many better highlighting options like elf. I got 003 light medium it has foundation stick 160 medium beige and a pink highlighter. The foundation stick is a little bit darker but nothing I would even consider a contouring shade.
ReplyDeleteI sent revlon a request to try products and told em my shades, they sent me the highlighting stick and lid, lash, line, photoready eye make up. If you wanna try em out I'd request if I was ya'll.
