Quick! Tell me your current favorite drugstore mascara, lip balm, and face powder.
My answer: L'Oreal Butterfly topped with L'Oreal Miss Manga (I tried this combo on the suggestion of a few of you and I love it. If you own both of these mascaras and you're not quite happy with either one, try them together; it will blow your mind!). For lip balm, I'm currently reaching for my Softlips + Hello Kitty lip balm in the flavor Apple, and for face powder I'm currently loving an oldie but goodie: NYC Smooth Skin loose face powder (which I found at Dollar Tree for, of course, $1).
CG supersizer, I have about five different balms I rotate between, Loreal True match in W1, W8, and C8 (I don't use a regular translucent/skin tone setting powder anymore.. I highlight/contour/bronze with face powder instead)
ReplyDeleteFavorite drugstore mascara: Rimmel Scandaleyes mascara. (My sisters always compliment me that my lashes look great, when I wear this), Chapstick lip balm in Cherry, and Maybelline Shine Free Pressed Powder.
ReplyDeleteMascara would be Maybelline Full n Soft, current lip balm is Bonne Bell Girl Scouts Lip Smacker in Thin Mints, and powder is the new Neutrogena Healthy Blends.
ReplyDeleteI had both the Butterfly and Miss Manga mascaras, but after being disappointed with both, I tossed them. Oops.
Maybelline Dream Wonder powderL'Oreal 24 H Power Volume mascara
ReplyDeleteMongongo Mandarin Green Orange & Ginger Lip Conditioner (from Ipsy bag), L'Occitane lip balm w shea butter, and lip balm from Origin
Mascara: Maybelline Volum' Express Colossal Washable. I have it in waterproof for days when I am going to be damp, but I prefer washable.
ReplyDeleteLip Balm: Blistex Mint in the green tube. It works, it's cheap, there are often coupons. I go through lip balm like water in this semi-arid climate. I've tried eos and others, and they're just not worth it to me. (I also don't want a flavor in my balm, and I don't want it to smell like food.)
Powder: Revlon Colorstay.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme mascara, Rimmel Stay Matte powder and Chapstick Cake Batter lip balm.
ReplyDeleteOops. Again: Essence get BIG! lashes waterproof mascara, ELF soothing lip balm (NOT conditioning! never tried that one), Wet n Wild Coloricon Bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. Please delete my other comment, I was confused lol!
ReplyDeleteI always have a Covergirl Lashblast Clump Crusher or Volumizing mascara on hand but I am trying a Catrice mascara that I grabbed when I saw the new display at Ulta. I got the Catrice Lashes to Kill ultra black volume mascara and I do like it. The formula is a little wet, but I do like the drama it gives my lashes. I'm using the Walgreens Revo lip balm in Pink Lemonade, one of the summer flavors. And for powder I use Rimmel London's Stay Matte pressed powder in translucent.
ReplyDeleteI'm not currently using a drugstore mascara. I have several in my drawer of unopened product's but I only like to have 2-3 open at a time that I rotate through and my current 3 are all high end. Last drugstore I tried and hated was Miss Manga. I have a bad habit of retouching my lashes and that includes curling them. When I did this with Miss Manga it just crunched right off lol I was so glad it happened at home! Last drugstore I loved was L'Oréal butterfly. I'm currently using eos balm in mint. It's not my favorite but my 12 yr old daughter has a habit of "borrowing" them and not returning them :/ Earlier this year I had every flavor of the eos balms and now I dont :/ My fav face powder out of several I am also cycling through is the Dream Wonder by Maybelline.
ReplyDeleteL'Oreal Power Voluminous Volume 24 Hour Mascara, Revo balm in watermelon, and the ELF Studio HD powder. The ELF powder is a new product I've been trying out for a month now and I really like it. Its staying power is not as great as the NYX HD Translucent powder, but the ELF one is a good $4-5 cheaper so I don't mind using the heck out of it :)
ReplyDeleteI've been using the fovea balm in watermelon (from Walgreen's) and I feel like it's actually drying out my lips! it's my first eve balm; how well do you think it works?
DeleteHi Pam! I haven't used the Eve brand before. The Revo's are awesome though and keep my lips moisturized.
DeleteFor mascara (both Maybelline), first coat waterproof Lash Discovery followed by non waterproof Lash Sensation. This is the only combo I've come across that lengthens, adds volume, and most importantly holds the curl all day. I'm not a lip balm user, but in winter I'll sometimes use put a tiny amount of organic coconut oil on my lips before bed. I'm loving essence all about Matt! fixing compact powder these days. A little goes a long way and it lasts a full workday for me.
ReplyDeleteNYX More to Love, almost any balm & Wet n Wild ConverAll powder.
ReplyDeleteRevlon Lash Potion, but I'm keeping my options open for a non-flaking, plushy still-soft-lashes mascara; Nivea sun protection balm; and Maybelline FitMe! powder.
ReplyDeleteRight now I am doubling up with CoverGirl The Super Sizer with Maybelline Illegal Lengths. It's an awesome combo. My favorite lip balm is Smith's Rosebud Salve (a classic). My favorite powder is a cult favorite too, but I hadn't tried it till recently; it's the ELF HD powder. It's seriously awesome.
ReplyDeleteI'm using CoverGirls' Super Sizer mascara, which I got in the Target beauty box, or the Revlon Lash Potion when I want to nourish my lashes or help them grow, though I'm not sure it works. The lip balms I use the most are by Epically Epic Soap, which I found on Etsy. (She makes these great flavors which are fantastic.) Powder, it's mostly the Physicans Formula CC plus powder.
ReplyDeleteOmg I've been wanting to try those lip balms!! Thank you for the rec...can't wait to order some now! :)
DeleteI have so many mascaras, and I'm always trying new ones! One that I have tried recently is Maybelline Lash Sensational. It makes my long lashes look like I'm wearing false lashes! I like Yes to Coconut lip balm for everyday but the best lip product for me, is Mary Kay Extra Emollient Night Cream. I use NYX HD powder in White, and for a highlighter, I like Wet N' Wild ColorIcon bronzer in Reserve Your Cabana. After reading comments on here, I want to try the E.L.F. HD powder!
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm wearing L'Oreal Butterfly Intenza and Chapstick Watermelon or Mango or Coconut. I have the 3 pack. I don't use face powder right now.
ReplyDeleteI have been using Maybelline's Shine Free Loose Powder for literally two decades - since high school in the 90's! Occasionally I have tried fancier loose powders, but it remains the best and my favorite for my oily skin.
ReplyDeleteI also have pretty much always used drugstore pressed powder - been using Cover Girl's Ready Set Gorgeous (formerly Fresh Complexion Pocket Powder) for probably a decade now. It's technically a powder foundation, but I think that's why it works so well at touching up my oily skin without getting too cakey.
Rimmel Scandaleyes RetroGlam (it's the only mascara I go back to after trying high end brands!), Coty Loose Powder (amaze balls just for the finish), Burts Bees Lip Balm!
ReplyDeleteOh and that's Rimmel Scandaleyes even after trying all the drugstore mascaras too lol
ReplyDeleteNo mascara or powder - but Bonne Bell Lip Smackers in vanilla or peppermint, since 1973. Never found anything I like better in all those years.
ReplyDeleteIm using that physicians formula mascara that comes with mascara and fibers. you put the mascara on first, then the fibers and then more mascara. I can only use it when I wear my glasses because the fibers got into my contacts and bothered my eyes. I bought it super cheap at CVS with coupons/extra bucks. It was dried out so I contacted PF and they replaced it. I don't wear powder and my lip balm is some lemon something or other from the body shop. Lemon lip butter. Its nice.
ReplyDeleteMascara: Rimmel Lash Accelerator
ReplyDeleteLip Balm: I personally love Maybelling BabyLips because of the added sun protection (only the ones with SPF, not the regular, Crystal, or Dr. Rescue ones). It isn't the longest lasting, but the clear ones are great for no-makeup days and the tinted ones (especially Grape Me) give the perfect tint! I don't mind reapplying, and they're one of the few balms from the drugstore that have SPF and NO beeswax, which I'm allergic to.
Powder: Honestly I've yet to try a face powder that I'm totally in love with from the drugstore. Rimmel Stay Matte is affordable but just okay, not something I reach for over my high-end powders. But I do love ELF Under Eye Setting Powder, a translucent, slightly shimmery highlighting setting powder!
Favourite drugstore mascara all time is probably Maybelline falsies waterproof mascara, favourite lip balm is Vaseline and face powder is always my HG Maybelline shine free loose powder in light, it's literally airbrush powder perfection. An honourable mention is also Covergirl clean pressed powder normal skin.
