Spotted: NEW 2014 Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipstick Collection (and new Universal Transparent Lip Liner)

In case you haven't heard, the original Moisture Renew Lipstick line from Rimmel has been discontinued. The entire line has been on clearance at both CVS and Walgreens for over a month now (and I believe it's also on clearance at places like Ulta, Target, Kmart, etc.). I had to go waaaaaay back into my archives to find this, but I can confirm that the original Rimmel Moisture Renew Lipsticks in the purple metallic tubes first debuted in stores back in Winter 2010 (proof). The drugstore beauty historian in me had to figure that out because I only vaguely remember posting those pics of the display!

Anyway, Rimmel has reformulated this line and launched a new version with new packaging and some new shades (as well as shades from the original line). I've been eyeing the new Moisture Renews on UK blogs (the packaging looks similar to Maybelline ColorSensational lippies) and I'm happy to inform you that the new Moisture Renews have finally landed in both the US and Canada!

Many thanks to reader Erica (@mzericalynn5 on Instagram) for sharing this pic of the new display, which she spotted at her local HEB this week:

Keep reading for more reader pics and shade information...

It looks like there are 24 shades in the new range (vs. the 18 shades from the original line still on the Rimmel US website as of the time of this post).. Reader Vicky spotted the new display in Canada this week and was kind enough to share these pics with us:

NEW 2014 Rimmel Moisture Renew display in Canada
(NOTE: The price on this display is CAD--they're probably a few dollars less in the US)

In this display, there are shades from the original line such as Nude Delight (Yay! They kept it!), Coral Garden, As You Want Victoria, Back to the Fuchsia, Dusty Rose, etc. There are also some NEW shades in this display such as Mayfair Lady, Coral Brittania and others. These new shades have been in the UK since 2013 (that's when Rimmel reformulated and relaunched the Moisture Renew line in the UK) but these shades are certainly new to us in North America.

Speaking of new colors that are already in the UK, I REALLY, REALLY hope that we're getting the shade Dark Night Waterl-oops! and that it's just one of the shades that's missing in this display (see empty slot below). Dark Night Waterl-oops! is apparently a nice dupe for MAC Rebel. It's a beautiful, deep, plummy shade (check it out on a blogger with a deeper complexion HERE). If any of you have seen the new display in your areas yet and can confirm that we got this shade, please do let us know!

In both the US and Canadian displays, there's also a new LINER:

NEW Rimmel Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner

This Moisture Renew Universal Transparent Lip Liner debuted in the UK in 2013 and I believe it's been in other countries since then as well. This is a new product for North America and it's, of course, a clear lip liner.

Overall, the reviews I've read on UK blogs for the newly-reformulated Moisture Renew Lipsticks have been quite favorable. The only complaint that I've seen so far is that the formula may be a bit too moisturizing because of its slick, light texture. I'm excited to try some for myself, and I'll of course review them when I get my hands on them.

Have you spotted the newly-reformulated Moisture Renew Lipsticks and the new Universal Transparent Lip Liner in your area yet? Thoughts?

Thanks so much, Vicky and Erica, for the great pics and info. I really appreciate it!

  1. I got one of the reformulated ones in a new shade - in love with ginger. It's a bright orange red and I am in love!! No complaints with it at all :)

  2. I'm excited for this! I found the old formula a bit drying actually. I'll have to keep my eyes peeled! :)

  3. Lipliner is a must for me these days since I use wet n wild balm stain jumbo pencils. The red one especially travels... to the point where I was going to exchange my extras in that color for the pale pink one. I wear the pink and mauve a lot but need to line.

  4. I have one of the old formula and it was super drying, but then I tried 'as you want Victoria" from the new line and it was AH-mazing! I then purchased one more color, these are both fab!
Would love to get me some more of these!!

  5. These also came out in Australia too but what they discontinued Nude Delight which has left me raging. Like this is the prettiest drugstore nudes ever and they got rid of it like that. I have emailed them but of course they never bothered replying back to me. Notting Hill Nude just doesn't compare to Nude Delight.

  6. I hope the new line does not smell the same as the old ones. I had 2 and did not like them. Same thing with the Kate Moss line. I bought 5 because I liked the color and formula and then had to throw them out because of the smell and taste. Excited about the new liner.

    1. I couldn't agree more. They were just awful because of that smell.

  8. I hate the new packaging. It looks too much like maybelline.

  9. I also hope they've improved the scent. I have one (don't remember what color, but it's a purply mauve) and it smells gross :x

  11. Too moisturizing? Yes please! I've been having unusually painful dry lips lately...normally I only get that in winter...maybe they're a little sun or wind burned...either way I'm excited :)

  13. Ohhh cool! I didn't realize this was a new formula! I got the shade Rose Berry in an influenster brand badge package and I love it! I haven't tried the other formula, but the color payoff is really good and it feels nice on the lips. I just didn't like the smell, but because it was such a nice product I didn't mind!

  14. I do hope the smell is improved. Also, am I the only one who hates what they do to their models? Zooey was alien and Georgia May is giving me Amanda Lepore vibes

    1. I have to laugh, because a lot of their models do end up looking pretty fake, though Kate Moss tends to look pretty good. Georgia May and Zooey both look better outside of the ads, though, in my opinion.
