The Wednesday Question

What's the most you'll pay for a drugstore foundation?

I've asked this question before but I thought it was worth revisiting since the price of drugstore foundations seems to get higher every year. For me, it's hard to pay more than $9.99 for any drugstore foundation. So if a foundation I love retails for more than that, I just wait for a sale and/or coupons and I save up my store rewards to bring down the cost. I just can't willingly pay $15 for a drugstore foundation., no matter the brand.

  1. That's my limit too. Even if it's $10 I will still wait for sales/coupons! I would not pay $15 for drug store.

  2. I've been having good luck with the new Cover Girl foundation... I don't even remember what I paid for it. I think $10 is reasonable for a drug store foundation, especially with the frequent sales and coupons.

  3. I'm with you G! Drugstore foundations shouldn't cross the $9.99 before tax threshold nor I won't pay more than $50 for a Department Store/ High End one. I save that money for treatments that will improve my skin therfore less foundation.

  4. I am around the same area. $12 is my limit without coupons but I prefer to use a coupon.

  5. I looked at the ponds bb cream yesterday and it was $14.95 and I thought "I'll just wait for a sale" so, i would say $10

  6. $10 is the most I will pay, usually. I have been lucky enough to have a friend hand over some of her foundations that she didn't like. When I buy my own though, I stick as close to $10 as possible.

  7. $10 seems to be my magic number. If the price is any higher than that, I just think, "If I'm going to pay this much, I might as well spend another few bucks and go to Sephora, where I can at least get color matched."

Then I wander off to see if I can find any new limited edition products. I'm a wild woman, I tell you.

    1. Oh, I'm with ya on that, LE, and promo displays...I live for that sheet!!! ;) To answer the Q., I would say $10 too. I did make an exception for the Revlon Colorstay whipped creme makeup, that I paid 12 and change for with no coupon. I had to try asap, as I thought it may be a good replacement for my beloved yet disco'd Revlon mineral mousse...not quite but okay.

  8. $10 is the most I'll pay. If it's over $10 I'll wait for a sale or a coupon so I can purchase it. That's what I did with the CG 3 in 1 foundation.

  9. I guess I would have to say $10. Foundation is never on my radar so I don't know the going rate. If I wear it which is only when I am really pasty like now I wear only Laura Geller Balance and Brighten which I get on QVC. One compact lasts a couple years

  10. I'm with ya there. I'm more likely to purchase a foundation at $10 or so. Once I see the price tag of $12 or higher, I second guess whether it's worth my purchase. It's at the point where I consider saving my money for a higher end foundation.

  11. I have to agree with you G and everyone else. I won't pay more than $10 for a foundation from the drugstore. If I'm willing to pay $15 for it I might as well throw in an extra $10 and get a clinque foundation. I actually prefer Lumene BB cream at the moment (which is regularly $15) I got the Lumene BB on a BOGO FREE sale so about $7 for each isn't too bad.

  12. I agree with everyone else. @The Beauty and The Business, I was able to get the Lumene BB cream free when I purchased the new BB Serum from Walgreens for 17.99. Hopefully by the time I run out, they will have another great BOGO sale.

  13. What other folks said above: $10. Any more than that and I might as well go to Ulta or Sephora where someone will help me match color (the back of my hand is markedly lighter than my face) and I can try before I buy and not wait until I get home.

  14. Currently I am addicted to the Cover Girl 3-in-1 which I believe is $11.49 at my Walgreens. I always wait until they do a BOGO 50% off sale so I can get them for around $8.50 or so a piece. Also try to use coupons too. As a side note, I have noticed in the area of the country I live in, different Walgreens have different prices, so I try to plan a trip to the Walgreens in a neighboring town because the price is about $.75 cheaper!

  15. It's rare for me to pay full price for any cosmetic at the drugstore regardless of price.

  16. Oddly enough, I need to pay as little as possible and use a coupon BUT let me walk into Sephora and I forget I have a budget to keep! LOL. Drugstore - no more than $8.

  17. Target had a bunch of foundation on clearance recently. :) $5

  18. I usually don't want to spend more than $10, and wait for sales and coupons to keep it in that range. Pricier stuff I'll wait for a 20 percent coupon and use it at Bed Bath & Beyond/Harmon's or go to someplace like Meijer with a coupon, where I know it'll be a couple bucks cheaper than the corner drug store so I can get a better price.

  19. These days I wait until I have extrabucks from CVS for everything. I got two bottles of Nearly Naked for free. I like it... and now my shade is M.I.A.

  20. The most i have paid for a drugstore foundation is $40. I live in Australia by the way. It was the Revlon Age Defying Firming and Lifting Foundation and also the Loreal Nutrilift Gold Anti Ageing Foundation.

  21. I agree with you, G. $9.99 is the most I'll pay for drugstore foundation. There are some Neutrogena foundations and blushes that I would love to try but I can't cope with spending 13.99 for a drugstore product.

  22. As a couponer i cannot pay more than $2 on any drugstore product...its possible if u wait for coupons and sales.

  23. Whatever revlon color stay costs is my limit. It's the best foundation I've ever used. I wear almost all high end makeup, but that's the one of two things I get at the drugstore.

  24. $11 I always get an extra when they're on sale. Anymore than that might as well buy high end.
