Spotted: NEW Maybelline Color Elixir by Colorsensational Liquid Color Balm Collection

Do you remember back in June when I posted that sneak-peek at the new Maybelline Color Elixirs? Well, they've landed! Huge thanks to reader Ashley (That Is All on YouTube) for this one. Ashley spotted the display at her local Bed Bath & Beyond recently and was nice enough to share pics with us:

Maybelline Color Elixir by Colorsensational Liquid Lip Balm Collection
(retail: $6.79 each at Bed Bath & Beyond)

From the display:

Saturated Color
Sensuous Balm Care
Polished Lip Shine

Reader Fatima mentioned yesterday that there is a mixture of both cremes and shimmers in this range (yay!). She also said that the tubes are smaller (not the same size at the regular Maybelline Colorsensational glosses). The size seems more along the lines of the L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stains

And reader Jen_m_sunshine said that both the texture and applicator are very similar to the L'Oreal Colour Caresse Wet Shine Stains and YSL Glsosy Stains. So it looks like this is Maybelline's version of those products. Since L'Oreal owns YSL and Maybelline, this isn't a big surprise BUT, I personally love the shade range and pigmentation of all Colorsensational lip products, so I'm very excited to try these. Wouldn't it be fun if there were color dupes in this range for the YSL Glossy Stains? I guess we'll have to wait and see (I think I might see a dupe of Rose Vinyl in this display, but I don't want to get my hopes up...yet).

Have you spotted the new Maybelline Color Elixirs in your area yet? Thoughts?

Thanks again, Ashley, for the great sighting and pics! And thanks to Fatima and Jen_m_sunshine for the helpful info!

  1. Do these stain like the YSL and L'Oreal versions or are they liquid lipsticks like the Almay liquid lip balm?

    1. I hope I can answer that for you when I get some! In the meantime, I mentioned above that a reader said the texture was similar to those....but I don't know yet about the staining power. Sorry!

    1. I don't know, but I'm beyond excited that they're getting the 2014 launches NOW! :)

  3. Omg! I'm a huge Maybelline Lippie and Mascara lover. These look stunning. Can't wait until they hit the stores. I wonder if they are better than the High Shine Glosses as far as pigmentation goes.

    1. I am too, and yep, that would be awesome if the pigmentation was better than glosses and more like liquid lipsticks! :)

  4. They are slightly thicker that L'oreal's and better coverage than Almay. They did leave a stain on my hand when I got home and swatched the 2 colors I bought.

    1. I agree with Jess, they are definitely more emolient and cushiony than the L'oreal ones, they're also not as tacky. However, the staining effect is not as great as L'oreal's.

  5. They are like liquid lipsticks at first and I noticed it also left a stain when I tried to take it off.

  7. Sigh...I've had my friend in Tampa scout places near her (in Tampa) for these and the L'Oreal La Lacque to no avail.
Sucks international people can't get their hands on these limited edition items...I don't understand how they can't have at least a number of them online! Sucks :(

  8. I found these at my local Harmon today, and I picked up the shade 005 Breathtaking Apricot. I have to say I found it much more similar to the Almay liquid lip balms than the L'oreal glossy stains. The packaging is super cute too, if you look up close the chamber that holds the product is in the shape of a lipstick, so it kind of looks like a mini-lipstick in a clear tube (but you're actually seeing the liquid in a lipstick shaped chamber)... I don't know if that makes any sense, but check it out when you find them!

    1. I wondered if they would be similar to Almay's.

I recently fell in love w/ Almay's liquid gloss balms. They're the most comfortable lip gloss I own! Sheer, but buildable. I loveeeee the formula.

They seem to be more sheer than these Maybelline ones though.

  9. I found them at the Christmas Tree Shop over the weekend, the line is nice for the price! I purchased one because the colors are similar to the L'Oreal and YSL ones I have in my collection. I've worn mine several times and this product seems thicker that the L'Oreal Wet Shines to me and can be worn with other lip products. I layer mine over lipstick, which you cannot do with the YSL Glossy Stains.
