Review: Milani Limited Edition Coming Up Roses Powder Blush in Warm Petals

I first posted about the Milani Limited Edition Coming Up Roses Powder Blush Collection back at the end of June, when it was first spotted at Meijer (you can see what the display looks like here).  I have a soft spot for products with beautiful embossing, and I was thrilled when Milani sent me one of these blushes for review. I've been testing this one for a few weeks now and I'm excited to share my thoughts with you, in case you've seen these and have been thinking about giving them a shot.

There are four shades in this collection and I received Warm Petals, which is the only brown-based shade in the range. Also, I want to make sure you know that Milani did have these for sale on their site up until very recently, but they are sold out online. B they are still available at select CVS, Walgreens, Meijer and Fred Meyer stores across the nation. And the nice thing is that, when it comes to limited edition blushes, it seems like the pinks always tend to sell out first, so you might still have a good chance of finding Warm Petals in the display even if the pinks are all gone. And you might want this one the most after you see what I have to say it about...

Milani Limited Edition Coming Up Roses Powder Blush in Warm Petals
(retail: $6.49, 0.6 oz)

The embossing on this blush is just gorgeous. It reminds me of the limited edition lip colors that NYC released back in 2010.

The color of Warm Petals is what I would call a brownish-peach and it also has a lovely golden sheen to it. Up close, there are some sparse gold glitter pieces, but they don't translate on the skin as glitter since they tend to disappear after blending (as you'll see in a second).

Here I am wearing a very generous amount of Warm Petals on my cheek and temple area:

On my NC20 skintone, Warm Petals gives my face some beautiful warmth with a lovely golden sheen. I obviously applied a lot here in the pic above, but you can definitely control the amount and just a few swipes with your brush will yield a much more subtle hint of warmth to the skin. I love that I can use this lightly as more of a bronzer all over my face, or I can apply it more heavily as a blush. It even works for light contouring on my particular skintone.

The texture of this blush is soft and silky. I don't find it to be chunky, overly powdery or hard to blend--it's very easy to apply and blend using a standard blush, powder or stippling brush.  The scent is very mild--to me it smells faintly of talc with no added fragrance. Staying power is wonderful for me and my oily skin--I can go six to seven hours before I start to notice any significant fading.

FINAL VERDICT: Sometimes the "non-pink" shades in a blush range tend to get overlooked, so I'm  happy that Milani sent me this particular shade for review. I honestly would have gone for one of the pinks if I saw this display at the drugstore, but I think this one is the hidden gem in the collection. It's a true multi-tasker and can be used in three ways (bronzer, blush or contour) by just controlling the amount and where you apply it. I can see this one working on all skintones, but those with deeper skintones will probably enjoy it more as a highlighter to give your skin some all-over warmth (that golden seen is so pretty in person). If you see this one at your local drugstore, I say give it a shot. Its versatility just might surprise you!

Once again, the Milani Limited Edition Coming Up Roses Powder Blush Collection is now sold out on the Milani website. However, I have been told by Milani that this was a very popular collection with retailers, so many locations should have it (I have heard from several of you that it's been popping up in stores just within the last couple of weeks). So be on the lookout for it at select CVS, Walgreens, Meijer and Fred Meyer stores near you.

Do you own any of the blushes in this collection? If so, I would love to hear from you!

    1. Hot Mama is much more peachy-pink and sparkly. Warm Petals is browner and more matte. You need both. :-)

  7. I own 2 of these and think that they are very nice and on-so-pretty to look at. However, I did NOT pick up this one (I did exactly what you said you would have done, which is buy up the 2 bright pink ones), and this is making me think I might just have to get this one, too. Oh, who am I kidding? I am for sure now going to have to get this!!

It kind of reminds me of the Milani Luminoso the way it looks on you-- so pretty!

  10. I was so annoyed because I spent $9.49 on these blushes at CVS. Then I found these at Walgreens for 6.99! And these stores are right next to each other. I don't understand it.

  11. I'm definitely going to have to scout my local Walgreens for these (they're generally better about LE collections than my closest CVS,) so pretty! I love Milani blushes, too, they're beautiful and pigmented and tend to blend out beautifully on my super-pale skin. Added benfit, because I'm so pale, a little goes a LONG way!

  13. Omg, this blush is so lovely!

I would've picked up one of the pink blushes instead of this one before seeing these swatches.

    Thanks for the review! ^^

  15. Ahhh I want to get my hands on these blushes but I canno,t for the life of me, find them! I've gone to the nearest CVS and Walgreens and they didn't have it. Any of you ladies that live in the LA/OC area know any of the CVS/Rite Aid/Walgreens that carry it? I'm gonna go nuts looking for these....just like the LE L'oreal strawberry blond O_O

  17. I purchased this & the deeper pink of the 3 pinks, I felt the brighter pinks were way to similar to justify buying all of them & I have so many similar pinks in my collection, but the Warm Petals was the first one I grabbed. I absolutely love both of mines I am so happy especially with this one.

  18. Can you pretty please do a sightings map for these??? I can't seem to find them at my Walgreens. :(

  19. Aww of course none of the stores in my city has them :-/ I wonder why Milani keeps doing limited editions and only chooses some places to sell them. It is such a great popular brand you'd think they'll be everywhere. I hate paying for shipping and will probably not get anything on their site. Shame.

  20. I just found these yesterday! Only $6.99 at Walgreens. I see that they only pop up in the Walgreens that carries the regular Milani line (most of the Walgreens in the Twin Cities area do not carry Milani in their regular line up of makeup brands). For those of you in MN, check out the Walgreens in Crystal and Brooklyn Park.

  21. I have to disagree at least on the two pinks I have they are chalky. They are beautiful but ELF has better blushes.Besides the georgeous package which sold them to me alone I just kept building and building the lightest pink and it just kept falling off my cheeks like dust. The one you got may have been differnt but mine were unsatisfactory. But I will keep them because they are so pretty in my collection.I hate to disagree since everyone else loved theirs.

  23. This looks like it could possibly be a dupe for Mary Kay's Sparkling Cider.
