It's official: My new Holy Grail drugstore concealer is...

It's big news for me when I "dethrone" an existing Holy Grail beauty product, so I thought you might like to know that I have officially changed my Holy Grail drugstore concealer.

For years, my go-to drugstore concealer has been Maybelline SuperStay (and I also really like the Instant Age Rewind Eraser Concealers). But I'm telling you, I've been so impressed with the L'Oreal True Match Super Blendable Crayon Concealer that I reviewed back in March that it's been the only concealer I find myself reaching for on a consistent basis. What makes this even more interesting is that several of the other True Match face cosmetics have not worked for me, but this one really does.

You can read my full review from March here to find out exactly why I love this concealer. The short version: it lasts FOREVER on my oily skin, it really helps conceal both my dark circles and skin imperfections on the rest of my face, it's ridiculously easy to use and blend (twist-up pencils rock my world, as you know) and well, I just love it.

The only gripe I have with this product is that wish it came in a much larger shade range, so that ALL of you could experience how nice of a product this is. Other than that, it's pretty much perfect for me and my needs.

What is YOUR Holy Grail drugstore concealer?

  1. I'm a big fan of this concealer as well. In fact, it's the only drugstore concealer that has ever worked well for me. I should go buy some backups...

  2. IDK if it's drugstore or not but NYX HD Concealer rocks my socks!

  3. I alternate between the L'Oreal True Match Concealer and the Benefit Fakeup concealer. My under eye area has a life of its own, so on its days when its super dry the Benefit concealer works best to hydrate and conceal, but on my oily days the L'Oreal true match works the best since it does not crease on me at all!

  4. I have both of the formers you mentioned. The superstay is airtime thicker than I like & I think I got it too light. The eraser: I don't feel it does anything. Just my opinion.

I have seen gurus rave about the crayon! I do wanna try it!

  5. I absolutely love the formula of it, but their palest shade is too dark for me. I was so excited when it came out because L'oreal true match is one of the only drugstore foundations that goes pale enough for me in their shade range (but the formula doesn't work for me) so I was hoping the concealer would be pale enough as well.
There are no options for super pale concealer because even if they make it in foundation, the shade range in concealers is way more limited.
    FRUSTRATING.

    1. I am super pale as well, and nyx hd concealer in the lightest shade is the only thing I've found that works!

  6. I love my Maybelline Age Rewind dark circle eraser. But with my intense dark circles, have to go with MAC's prolong wear concealer and Benefit's Boi-ing concealer.

  7. I love my super stay so much! I actually pop the plastic stopper off the top when it gets low to make sure I get every single bit of the product. Perhaps I shall look at the L'Oreal when the time comes for new! Thanks for this G.!

  8. Covergirl Simply Ageless. I use the corrector under my eyes and light/med everywhere else. I use a Soho crease brush I got in an Ipsy bag to apply. Blends instantly, covers everything, and lasts forever.. even outlasts my foundation. Also does not make me break out around my nose, which is a consistent problem for me.

I used the Loreal true match crayon a few times.. but it did not really stand out for me.. guess I should try it again.

  9. Omg I must try!! I love the age rewind and I'm almost out. Perfect timing! :)

  10. Based on some other online reviews I purchased the Loreal True Match concealer last month, and I agree - it's fantastic! I have an oily "T-Zone" which is the same place that has imperfections, plus, I live in Texas where it's hot. I expected this concealer to melt off my face, but it stays in place all day. In fact, I don't even use foundation during the summer; this product does the trick in those areas I need some coverage. I love it, and recommend it to anyone who needs to hide circles, imperfections, and sun damage spots.

  11. I don't like using non-natural makeup, or chemicalized stuff, but when I run out and am waiting for my natural makeup online order to be delivered, I turn to Maybelline concealer. It does a decent job, and I only use a smidge to get the job done.. and bc I want as less possible chemical on me!

  12. I love the L'oreal True Match concealer as well! And i agree that it could have a much larger shade range because i currently use the n6-7-8 but i think that if there were a few more shades to choose from i could find a little better of a match for my under eye area. and i also agree about the other true match products not working for me, but i really do like the concealer.

  13. I may need to check it out. The fact that Frieda Pinto is modeling it makes me think there is hope it would work for my skin tone (MAC NC 42/44). Normally I can't do any drug store makeup, it's either too orangy, too pale or just not the right tone.
However, for concealers, I LOVE the Maybelline Fit Me in 30 Café. It's the exact color of my skin. I use it over the Bobby Brown dark peach color corrector. For my raccoon dark circles I need them both.
I was happy to report that the Revlon Naked foundation I got from the CVS clearance was a perfect match (Chestnut I think was the shade).

I saw a selection of CG Queen in the grocery store and was floored by the selection for dark girls! But sadly my grocery store doesn't do easy returns on makeup. So I need to find a CVS/Walgreens that has this.

  14. I have not found a HG concealer but this sounds tempting. Are you still using the shade you reviewed, the Fair/Light N1-2-3? You said it had a bit of peachiness, which is what I want in a concealer.

  15. I wanna try it!! If only it wasn't like $10. Ugh. Oh well. Maybe next payday

  16. I bought this after I read your original review and I've really loved it! It lasts for-friggin-ever on my blemishes, and my skin is really oily. However, it doesn't work as well under my eyes. It goes on well, but it seems like it gets cakey after a few hours. I can just run a finger over it and it seems to blend back in, but I think I'll look for something else for under eye. I haven't had anything last on blemishes more than a couple hours in the past, so I'm loving this one!

  17. This loreal concealer for sure, but hard candy glamofauge and physicians formula RX are both extremely creamy and pigmented concealers, even enough to cover tattoos! They're basically dupes of Kay Von d tattoo concealer, amazing cosmetics concealer, etc ER . The tiniest little dot can cover all my imperfections. I love all 3!

  18. For drugstore concealer my favorite is the Loreal crayons but I felt like I went through the product vary fast. I really liked that it's a twist up pencil for rushed mornings but my holy grail concealer is the OCC skin conceal. It covers so well you don't have to put a ton of product on. So the product lasts longer. And it's more cost effective than the Loreal (if you buy the loreal at full price)

  19. Wow, HG status? I've really been wanting to try this concealer after reading ur great review on it. Just been hoping for a sale to get this one.

I still have a bunch of concealers I need to finish. x3

  20. I have all three, and use them in different days, my under eye's texture and color changes constantly, to try to cope with the color difference I apply some of the orange color tattoo or even the orange lipstick from milani (sweet nectar?) to cancel the blue, and then the crayon or the maybelline eraser, the color stay for me is a good match but I use it for my very oily days.

  21. My favorite drugstore concealer is maybelline age instant for dark circles.

  22. I'm always searching for good every day products, so your review really makes me want to try it. I usually use HC Glamouflage thinned out, but this sounds like it could be better for daily spot concealing.

  23. I really like the formulation on the Loreal Truematch Concealer Crayon, and it *does* last a ridiculously long time for me, too, however, it's just not pale enough.

  24. Oh G, you do not know how thrilled I am you posted this! I have been for the past week looking for this and I'm my spaced out, stressed state(2 daughters graduating this week) thought in my head it was Maybelline. I kept looking at the Maybelline section thinking I was nuts when I couldn't find it! Thanks again, I'm off tomorrow to get this bad boy. Can't wait!

  25. I bought the crayon to use on blemishes. The light was too light for use on my face, but perfect for the undereye area. The crayon design makes it really easy to get the concealer where you need it with minimal blending. I'm going to try the darker color for blemishes, but I'm not sure the formula will beat my current fav, Revlon Colorstay.

I previously loved Hard Candy's Glamouflauge as my under eye concealer. It's heavy duty, made for tatoos, and a good match. However, the most recent tube I bought was running and separated. The Walmarts in my town don't carry HC so I was at a loss and ready to try something else.

  26. I also LOVE L'Oreal's TruMatch concealer pencil -- it's a great match for my skin color, blends easily and lasts all day. Plus it's easy to use and not messy. WIN win win!

  27. The L'oreal Super-Blendable crayon is amazing! It's earned double-super duper Grail status for me. I have really dark circles (hi, new mom here...baby looks great and I look like a ghoul) and this is the only product that A: actually works, B: doesn't crease, cake or vanish, and C: has a good color match. I've tried everything out there. This crayon makes me look awake, vibrant and fresh-faced...none of which apply to me normally (haha!) If it is ever dc'd, I will bang on their doors.

  28. Hmmmmm...I no longer have Holy Grails. Being a blogger has totally spoiled me and I'm terribly fickle.

  29. Glamoflauge! I purchased the wrong shade so I mix a little fast drying liquid white eyeliner in with that, I'll have the tube a long time.:)

  30. The maybelline ones you mentioned have been my HG drugstore ones so I'll have to give the L'Oreal a try!

  31. If you can find it, the LA Girl Pro concealer is AWESOOOMMMEE!! To me it works as good if not better than some high end brands, has a nice medium consistency for those who actually have dark circles. This stuff really covers, lasts forever, and costs about $2-$3.00! I've tried Mac but the concealer was a bit cakey. This covers well without being cakey. Am I the only one whose tried this???

  33. I wonder, what about the true match concealer in particular led it to usurp the superstay as your HG undereye concealer?
