TJ Maxx haul

I did some damage at CVS (see my last post), TJ Maxx and Sally Beauty this week. I asked you on Facebook if you'd like to see haul pics and since over 200 of you said yes, I'm happy to share! So here's what I got at TJ Maxx:

Hempz Treats Delicious Body Lotion in Cherries Jubilee
Retail: around $11 on Amazon (8.5 oz)
TJ Maxx price: $5.99 (8.5 oz)

I love the brand Hempz (lots of their lotions are sold at Sally Beauty) but I had NO idea, until this week, that Hempz had a sub-brand called Hempz Treats that specializes in gourmand-scented lotions and lipglosses. When I saw the words "cherries jubliee" on this bottle, I immediately whipped out my phone in the middle of the store to look this one up (I love anything that smells like cherry-based desserts).

Turns out that Cherries Jubliee is part of Hempz Treats' Spring Collection, and one whiff was all it took for this lotion to land in my basket. Deeeee-lish. In fact, I'm going to shut up now because this lotion truly deserves its own review (coming soon).

Keep reading to see what else I picked up at TJ Maxx...

Cynthia Rowley Precision Blending Sponge
Retail: unknown
TJ Maxx price: $5.99

So I finally bought a blending sponge! They had a few different brands at my TJ Maxx, but after looking at online reviews (again, on my phone in the middle of the store) I went with the Cynthia Rowley version because it seemed to have the most favorable reviews.

I'd be happy to review this one after I've used it several times, but I don't know how much I can offer you in terms of knowledge because it's the first one I've ever tried (so I obviously can't compare it to the original Beauty Blender). But if you still would like to see what I think of this product, please leave a comment and let me know!

Have you spotted any great beauty deals at Ross, Marshalls or TJ Maxx lately? I'd love to hear about them!

  2. Ahhh, I should have posted this at the time but I recently found several H2O products at my TJMaxx. I got the Marine Toner for $4.99, Water Activated Eye Makeup Remover for $5.99 (reg. $16), & the Face Oasis Ultra Hydrator moisturizer for $12.99 (reg. $42)...I absolutely LOVE the moisturizer & was seriously thinking about picking it up for full price when I found it for a fraction...SCORE!!

    1. Nice to hear someone else who loves that moisturizer too! You don't hear a lot about it very often. I got it at TJ Maxx last Saturday for $10.99! (Colorado) I was so happy because I have paid full price for it. Great product and they don't test on animals!

  3. Got this same one from TJ Maxx a couple of weeks ago and I love it!! I have been using it for a while now and am very happy with it. I have very dry skin, so much that applying foundation or concealer with brushes sometimes makes my skin flare up or flake easily (annoying!! ) I love how this works and it doesn't feel rough or anything at all. The foundation goes on smoothly by dabbing onto the skin and the end result is really natural too. Again, I don't know how this compares to the original beauty blender out there but I love this one anyways! Definitely recommend it :)

    1. Agree! I'd love to see a review on that beauty sponge, G!

I heard the London Soho brand was a good dupe *UNTIL* they changed the shape from an egg to a football. :/ I've heard really bad reviews on Sonia Kashuk's version, but maybe Cynthia Rowley's has more hope. :)

  9. I hate the Sonia Kashuk sponge. I actually use it to apply powder now. The Cynthia Rowley sponge works really well. I actually bought another as a back up because the one I have it getting lots of use!

  10. If you ever see Hempz Treats lotion in Pumpkin Spice Latte you must immediately buy every bottle in sight! It smells exaclty like a pumpkin spice latte, and I have to stop myself from constantly smelling my hands when I use it. I'm going to stop by TJMaxx today and see if I can find Cherries Jubilee.

  11. I got to get to tjMaxx! Plz use and review it,,I'd like to know your opinion on it too. I always wanted the beauty blender but just couldn't justify spending that much.

I jumped on the Sally beauty deal- bought Gumdrop and Coffee Break!!

You've changed my life with this blog! I'd be lost without such valuable info! Thank you!!

  14. I am interested in your thoughts about the blender sponge. I like the one I have but then, I don't wear a lot of liquid foundation.

  15. Those lotions do smell very good, the Orlando Marshalls/TJ Maxx got them in. I was worried they would have that spoiled smell organics usually get, but no- then again not sure if these claim to be fully organic.

  16. Marshalls employee here: We almost always have H2O and Elizabeth Arden skincare products at my store. (I work at the largest Marshalls store in town, but there are only three.) Yes, we do have lots of Hempz Treats lotions in lately, in delicious scents. I've not tried them yet. We also have lots of the blending sponges, both Cynthia Rowley and Earth Therapeutics (a brand I love!). We have more of The Body Shop products in lately, and just today we received a bunch of derma-e skincare products also! (These are fantastic and I swear by their Tea Tree & Vitamin E antiseptic creme for everything.)

As per my usual warning, TJMaxx and Marshalls are sister stores, which means sometimes, not always, they have similar products. Identical items seem to happen more frequently in the beauty department. If you don't find an item, keep checking weekly for new stock. If you see a brand you like, the store's open door with the brand make further shipments likely. And lastly, associates and managers have no clue what will come in on trucks, so they'll only know about what's already in the store.

  17. I recently picked up some Sephora and Sation nail polishes at TJ Maxx, along with an absolutely adorable tiny mirrored dresser to keep (part of) my enormous earring collection in.

Mostly though, I go there for tea. They fairly often have my favorite tea brands (Tazo and Numi) for much less than in the grocery stores.

  18. I LOVE the Cynthia Rowley sponge, G!! I bought one for myself and plan to buy them as gifts for other beauty-loving friends of mine :) I love the green, it's super cute.
