The Weekly Drugstore Makeup Sales (9/2 - 9/8)

A lot of us have been hoping for Maybelline sales at the drugstores to go along with LE Fashion Week Collection, and we finally got them this week. All three chains are running Maybelline sales, so haul away! (My suggestions? The Olive Martini Quad and the Barely Beige Color Tattoo.)

For those new to drugstore sales, when I indicate a "limit" next to a rewards offer, that limit is only in reference to the rewards, NOT to the amount of products you can buy. For example, at Rite Aid this week, Maybelline is BOGO1/2OFF and you get $5+UP when you spend $15. The limit on this offer is 4, which means that you get the $5+UP a total of four times. The "limit 4" does not apply to how many products you can buy--you can buy as many as you'd like and get the BOGO1/2OFF deal, but you'll only get the +UP Rewards a total of four times. I tend to get asked this question a lot, so I hope this clears it up.

CVS shoppers: Extra Care members, don't forget that you can DOUBLE your Quarterly Extra Bucks just by clicking here. Awesome BOGOFREE deals this week: all Sebamed products are BOGOFREE (love love love this body lotion), and there's a link to a coupon above to get $3 off when you buy 2 products. Since Sebamed is a little pricey, this is a great way to try some of their products without breaking the bank. Also, all Shea Moisture haircare is BOGOFREE (click here for my Shea Moisture reviews). And the "Spend $10 on Revlon get $4 back in Extra Bucks" deal is awesome this week too, since the limit is six. That means you can spend $10, get $4 in EB, take those $4 in EB and use them toward another $10 worth of Revlon products, get another $4 in EB, and keep doing that a total of six times. Simple skincare fans: there are lots of Simple coupons that I linked to above, and this week when you spend $15 on any Simple Skincare, you'll get a FREE 25ct package of Simple Facial Wipes (remember: coupons are calculated after you have met the $15 threshold, not before). Speaking of skincare, there's a good deal on the new Neutrogena Rapid Tone Repair I showed you a few weeks ago: it's on sale for $18 (regularly $21.99) and you get $2 back in Extra Bucks. This sale also includes Rapid Wrinkle Repair and the Microdermabrasion System.

Rite Aid shoppers: Pick up the Rite Aid circular this week (available in-store) for access to Rite Aid coupons for various beauty products ($2 off Neutrogena cosmetics, $2 off Simple skincare, etc.). You can combine these coupons with any manufacturer's coupons you may have, for even more savings (like the Simple skincare coupons I linked to above). Click here to view the circular coupons (scroll all the way to the bottom of the circular). Awesome deal on Revlon lip color this week: all Revlon lip and eye cosmetics, nail enamel and beauty tools are BOGO1/2OFF and when you buy any 2 of these items you get $3+UP. AND, there's a Video Values coupon for $2 off a Revlon Lip Butter. Let's say the Lip Butters are $7.49 each (prices vary). Buy 2 and with the BOGO1/2OFF sale you're down from $14.96 to $11.23. Then with the coupon, your out-of-pocket price is $9.23. But you also get $3+UP, which brings your total after rewards down to $6.23, or just $3.11 per Lip Butter! Click here for an important change to the Wellness+ program in case you missed it.  Also, if you haven't heard about the Glam Camp promotion, you do not want to miss out on this one. And don't forget to check out the September Video Values coupons, which are now live.

Walgreens shoppers: Just because I've stopped covering new product releases from Sinful Colors (click here if you missed why), that doesn't mean that I will not cover their sales. That said, all Sinful Colors polishes are on sale for $0.99 this week. A few other good deals this week: Pond's towelettes are BOGOFREE again, and EOS Shave Cream is 2/$6 with $4 back in Register Rewards. By the way, have any of you tried the new Walgreens Bioinfusion haircare? I was looking at the line the other day and the ingredients look pretty good. I'm always looking for new haircare to try, so leave a comment if you've tried anything. Thanks! Click here for an important update regarding the new Walgreens rewards program, in case you missed it.

  1. CVS: Spend $10 on any Maybelline cosmetics get $3 Extra Bucks (limit 1, excludes clearance)

^For the above above, I was able to get it 3 times (total of $9 in EB). My receipt indicated no limit and that I was still able to qualify for another $3 EB. It may just been the CVS I was at... But I thought it's worth a mention.

  2. Aaaaah! I live in Indianapolis and have looked EVERYwhere and those color tattoos are nowhere to be found. It's maddening!!!

  3. I just wanted to thank you for posting these sales in one place....and the coupon links too. I no longer get the Sunday paper, so this is where I get my fix! :-)

  6. Yay another SC sale! I am still looking for Leap Flog, anyone have extra bottles if I don't have any luck?

  7. Thanks G! I went to CVS yesterday to see if they had the Revlon Just Bitten in the difficult-to-find Honey color and lo and behold they did! But it was $9.99, just one penny away from the BUCKS! So then I chose a Photoready blush that was $13.99 but had a coupon for $2 off, intending to get $8 bucks back. When I went to the cash register it took off $4 with the coupon! What!? SO then I was at $19.98! Argh! I ran back and got a Diamond Lust eyeshadow for around $5. And then I got $12 bucks back! Huh? I'm so confused, but at least my next transaction was only $2 in tax.

BTW I also saw on Iheartriteaid that there's a $5 off Physician's Formula coupon at Rite Aid expiring Sept. 8. That would be a good deal with the UP rewards.

    1. Jane,

You only need to spend 98% of the amount in order to earn the ExtraBucks, so if you'd purchased just that $9.99 item, you would have received the $4 ExtraBuck (98% of $10 = $9.98). If your eyeshadow was at least $5.42, that was enough to earn 3 of those $4 ExtraBucks ($12). Here's the math:

$30 x 98% = $29.40 (amount needed to earn the reward three times)
      $9.99 + $13.99 + $5.42 = $29.40

Since the limit is (6), you can go back and buy more.

    2. Oh! I did not know you only had to spend 98% of the amount! Dang, knowing that beforehand would have simplified my life. Oh well, now I know for next time.

It seems that the dollar amounts needed to earn the rewards are calculated before coupon discounts? What about BOGO1/2 off deals? And do you know if it's true at Rite Aid as well? These things are so confusing.

    3. Jane,

Coupons don't affect your totals, so yes, the pre-coupon prices are what matter. Use the current selling price to determine how much will count. So, if an item is BOGO 1/2 off $10, then buying (2) would count as $15 (not $20).

I haven't shopped at Rite Aid in ages, so I can't answer anything about their program.

  8. (P.S. My second transaction was the Color Tattoo in Barely Beige plus a Maybelline nail polish, score.)

  9. Jane, you weren't the only one who got confused with the sale like this! I was the same way with the Revlon nail polishes but got the idea after picking up Ocean and Rainforest. :) It is great to have those bucks in the end. And the coupon, probably it gave you an extra two off probably due to your membership.

    1. Thanks, that makes me feel better, haha. I moved out of the country before the drugstores implemented all these rewards programs, and since I don't live anymore I usually gloss over NC's posts on how to maximize your rewards. So I'm just now getting the hang of it now that I'm back for a visit. I'm kicking myself for ignoring the bucks deals on Physician's Formula and Milani products at CVS a few weeks ago. I just kept staring at them thinking it was too confusing and complicated and didn't buy. Now I'm probably gonna have to pay full price (gasp! the horror!) for that Milani pencil because I'm leaving soon!

  10. Mega bummer, I live in NYC & went to the Walgreens in Times Square tonight, & not only was the SC polish I bought (Snow Me White) NOT 0.99, it was also more expensive than the usual 1.99 price at 2.49! But I think that has something to do with the weird merger that the Walgreens & Duane Reade stores are doing here in the city, so NYC buyers beware. Of course, the non sale price didn't deter me from buying two Pure Ice polishes (Strapless & Spitfire) & the Kate Moss #15 lipstick from Rimmel I've been lusting after for ages ;-)

  11. Pure Ice polishes? Is that a different make up line?
