The Wednesday Question

What one drugstore beauty product do you absolutely depend on the most for your day-to-day beauty routine?

My answer's easy: Maybelline Define-A-Brow eyebrow pencil in Dark Blonde. It's one of the only drugstore pencils that is light, but not too light, and doesn't have any red in it at all. If you've got dark blonde/light brown hair, you know that eyebrow colors at the drugstore that are designed for our coloring often have red in them, so that they can be used by redheads as well. Since my hair is more on the ashy-blonde end of the spectrum, a brow shade with red in it looks just plain weird on my skin. I also love that Maybelline Define-A-Brow is an automatic pencil (no sharpening!) and it has a very fine, firm point that makes it a snap to get down in between my brow hairs. AND, this pencil lasts all day, even on my oily skin. I honestly don't know what I'd do if Maybelline ever discontinued this product--I depend on it more than any other product I own, to the point where I always keep a back-up on hand in case I unexpectedly run out.

  1. I use Maybelline's One by One Volume Mascara everyday. I love it, I think it works better than department store mascaras I've tried.

The only eyebrow color pencil that is similar to Maybelline's Dark Blonde (that I've found) is Anastasia's Perfect Brow Pencil in Taupe. And it's $22! I can't believe I used to pay that :)

  2. CeraVe cream. My skin is very dry and flaky but super sensitive. CeraVe moisturizes without any issues.

  3. CeraVe cream is the only thing that works for my very dry, flaky but super sensitive skin.

  4. Over here we have a Japanese brand called K-Palette and I love their brow liquid and liquid liners. What would I do without them!

  5. Regenerist Olay-Eye Lifting Serum. Although I suffer from OILY skin my under eyes are REALLY dry & dark (w/small fine lines). This product is great for creating a super smooth surface and hydration for my undereye making my conceealing application very easy and long lasting! -Leslie

  6. Prestige Total Intensity Liner in Deepest Black - it's my absolute favorite.

It's such a deep black, plus I compared it to the Milani Liquif'eye and the UD 24/7 and it lasts way better than either of those! I LOVE it.

I also really love Maybelline One by One Volume Express Mascara, but it's not quite as essential to my routine as the Prestige eyeliner.

  7. Revlon Color Stay Blemish Concealer Medium/Deep! This has been a Godsend lately LOL Well, that and my Maybelline Full n Soft w/p mascara. I don't think I could go a day without either of these products.

  8. DEF mascara....so many to choose from but I am going to go with Loreal Million lashes (it's the one I'm using at the moment) =)

  9. Last week I stopped by a Rite Aid I've never been to before, and what do I see but Black Radiance! I finally got to try the Perfection Complexion Shine Control Primer that you love, and it's totally changed my life! My face used to be a complete oil slick within 5 hours of putting on my makeup, and now I only need to do a little blotting after about 8 hours. I'm so glad I finally found this, and for your review!

  10. Maybelline Volum'Express The Falsies mascara. I have sparse and stubby lashes, and this mascara gives me lots of length and volume.

  11. Revlon Grow Luscious mascara. It really has helped my eyelashes grow, they are so much longer than they were before I started using it. And although I don't use it every day, I would also have to say Revlon ColorStay foundation. I could never be without it! I'm an all around huge Revlon fan.

  12. I'd have to agree with the masses here and say mascara...just whichever brand I happen to have. I ONLY used mascara for many, many years, and only within the last 5 years or have integrated other beauty products.

  13. Why, oh why, do you make me chose? :P Mascara, blush and eyebrow pencil came to mind. But... I guess, if I had to chose, it would be mascara. Any one that catches my interest. Currently it's Prestige My Blackest Lashes. Wow, that was hard!

  14. Clean & Clear Oil Absorbing Sheets are a must for me.

  15. Well, it's actually two.. but they work together. Milk of magnesia topped with black radiance primer. I put it on even if I'm not wearing makeup... the only thing that keeps me from becoming an oil slick by midday. I skipped the MOM yesterday as an experiment and sure enough, my forehead was so oily my bangs were sticking to it by evening. I seriously do not know what I would do if they stop making the BR primer... I worry because it's not terribly popular. It would be great if they would make a comparable product in the WnW line since it is more available/mainstream.

  16. Maybelline Ultra Brow Brush-On Color. This may have been one of my FIRST ever beauty cosmetic purchases. This might sound un-hygienic, but I've used the same one for over 5 years. I always use it on a clean face, and just use it with the brow brush it comes it. I have still about half of the product left. It lasts so long because you don't need to use very much. This is much cheaper than using MAC brown matte eyeshadows for eye brow definition!!

  17. I love love love my Garnier BB Cream. While it isn't what I thought it would be in the beginning, it is the perfect product for the workweek. It hydrates and also evens out my skintone beautifully and I don't have to be real precise with the application. It is perfect for me as I like to spend the least amount of time getting ready in the morning as possible :)

  19. I have to say Eucerin Sensitive Skin face lotion which I use as my daily morning moisturizer. It's so lightweight but still gives me enough moisture, has spf 30 and doesn't leave me greasy at all. Lasts forever too.

  20. I bought the Maybelline Define-A-Brow per your recommendation (except the color I got was Medium Brown--bc I have dark hair). Great formula! I love how I don't get brow makeup meltdown after a day of work. The color is a bit off bc my hair and brows look jet black in the perpetual gray weather here so I'm still looking for an alternative but it's great otherwise. Please keep reviewing great products--I'm always ALWAYS on the lookout.

  21. I wonder if the comment I just typed up went through? Maybe not...

Just wanted to mention I got the Maybelline Define-A-Brow because of your recommendation. It's a great formula--first time I didn't get brow makeup meltdown after a day of work. Unfortunately, the darkest color I found was Medium Brown--which is not quite dark enough against my dark hair. If only it was more grey-tinged or darker, it would be perfect. Unfortunately, the color match problem is something I typically get across many brands--at least this pencil is budge-proof.

I look forward to more reviews! Thanks again!

  22. Just in the past 2 weeks I have been using Milk of Magnesia under my foundation primer of just under the foundation and it has completely solved my problem of oily skin! I went from blotting once every 1-2 hours to once a day!

  23. I use the Wet 'n Wild "taupe" pencil for my eyebrows-but I fear they may be discontinuing it since it is getting more difficult to find. I may take a look at the Maybelline Define A Brow. Thanks so much!!!

  24. So hard to decide! But I love the Sonia kashuk concealer and Maybelline dream matte powder (great for oily skin) Also I was obsessed with the neutragena wipes and I just tried the epielle ones (because of your review) and I've converted!!! They are amazing - I got the green tea kind. I was also excited to see the black radiance primer at meijers. Can't wait to try it.

  25. I used to use Maybelline's Define-a-Brow, but was tired of it after a year.

So my answers would probably be:
    Revlon Eyeshadow
    WNW Eyeshadow
    Rimmel Mascara
    Covergirl Mascara
    Milani blushes
