The Wednesday Question

As we head into fall and winter, I have to ask:

What's your favorite red lip color?

These days I have been constantly reaching for my NYC Smooch Proof 16HR Lipstain in Rock On Ruby. It goes on deep red and then it fades to more of a neutral red that's never too blue and never too orange. It's the perfect shade of red for me and I love the stain it leaves behind as it fades. How about you?

  1. I'm kind of scared of reds, so I like mine sheer-ish. My favorites right now are the Milani HD lipcolor in Ignition and The Balm plumping gloss in some color that has punch in the name.

  2. I have this teak lippy that's nice and mellow looking. It's kind of a go-to day lipstick for me, especially for fall.

I also want to try a berry lippy for those bolder days, but I'm still looking for the perfect one.

  3. I usually use a really sheer brownie red every day (when not sticking with mauvey pinks), of varying brands. But when I want a *red* lip, I reach for Kat von D's Adora or Revlon Colorburst in Crimson. Both topped with a dark gloss to bring down the "shazam - it's red!" aspect.

  4. I really only wear a red lip if I'm going out in the evening, but I like Maybelline's Red Revival. There's a Wet n' Wild matte red I really like too. I can't remember the name of it but I think it's Stoplight Red.

  5. NYC Retro Red! It is a very bright true red that I almost never wear, but I love. Cheap, very well-pigmented, comfortable on lips and doesn't skew fuchsia.

  7. I totally agree about NYC Retro Red! I think it looks so good blotted; it gives it a stain-like appearance. Wearing it like that is a nice way to ease into bolder colors.

  8. I have to say if I want a red i go for my mac red, that's if I am going for a classic look, now my all time favorite vampy red color has got to be cherry juibilie from avon I love it, its not too dark, not to brown the perfect vampy red.

  9. Revlon Matte in Really Red. Hands down my favorite red lipstick ever! And I'm a TOTAL red lipstick junkie; I have so many! I always get compliments and get asked about this one when I wear it =) And I love this formula cus it's not drying on the lips, yet lasts a really long time! It's my signature going-out lip (when I'm not out with my honey bunches haha =P he doesn't like getting a mouth full of lipstick everytime we kiss LOL).

  11. I love red & have too many now because I don't wear it as often as I used to:
Tarte Stain & Shine in Cherry
NYC's LipGlides in Chinatown Cherry, Red Hot and NY Apple
a ton of red Lipstains by Mark, NYC, Styli-Style, VL, TheBalm, Pop & CG
Revlon matte l/s In the Red
Lancome Work It l/s and Ablaze JT
CG Burn LipPerfection l/s -which I bought because of your swatch and review G :)
WnW glosses, shimmery reds from holiday collections.
WnW tinted lipbalm in Cherry, the one that reminds me of a BB LipSmacker from the 80's, for those old enough to remember those!
Maybelline CS l/s in Summer Sunset & their new Baby Lips balm in Cherry Me
VS Beauty Rush l/g in Cherry Bomb
Sephora l/g in Bronze Beauty (red on me)
NYC plumping l/g in the sheer dark red from the spring LE collex, I forget the name but I think you have it too G.

There are probably a few more that survived the last purge, but that's enough for now ;)

  12. My classic go-to is Revlon Certainly Red for every day or Cherries in the Snow for something more intense.
I love WnW Fierce and a new WnW matte berry red that doesn't have a name but is numbered 905D in a black casing with a clear top.
