It's that time again: the return of the pumpkin polishes!

Every fall, Rite Aid offers $1.99 pumpkin-shaped polishes for Halloween, followed by snowman-shaped polishes in the winter. Looking at what's being offered this year, some of the shades are identical to last year, but I don't remember these particular glitters from last year. Maybe one of you polish gals can tell me if these glitters are identical to last year's? My pics from last year only contain the glow-in-the-darks.

Anyway, let's take a look at this year's offerings. I went to several different Rite Aids, so here's a collection of everything I found (I spotted two different displays with glitters and black-light polishes, one display with glow-in-the-dark polishes, and one display of nail art pens).

There are moon-shaped pieces of holo glitter in this polish, in addition to medium-sized holo and black glitter.

Left: silver and black glitter
Middle: orange glitter
Right: orange and black bar glitter

The mint green and pastel blue shades above contain fine glitter, as well as these:

It looks like the double-ended nail art pen with the orange glitter actually contains the exact same glitter as the pumpkin polish:

Have you spotted/purchased any pumpkin polishes this year? Are there any in particular that you'd like to add to your collection?

  2. I have only seen the display with the stripers. I will have to take a run to Rite Aid tonight to inspect more closely

  3. Oh wow, would I ever love the glitter ones. The pumpkin polishes here just say "backlight" on them and there's no glitter that I saw but there were empty spots. But the bottle looks exactly the same as the ones you showed, I would imagine it's the same bottle supplier.

  9. These pumpkin polishes are one of those kinds of things that made me wish we had Rite Aid where I live.... *sad face*

The pumpkins are too cute, that orange glitter polish is pretty wicked, and I LOVE the glow-in-the-dark ones!

  10. I saw these in Rite Aid today! At least three of the glitters seem to be identical to the glitter polishes I found in those Color Zone trios at TJMaxx recently. (No silver in the stash at TJMaxx.) And the glow in the darks look very similar to what I saw, too. Some had a bit of glitter, some didn't. So I'm now pretty sure that the company that makes Color Zone also makes the pumpkins and snowmen! I love solving a mystery.

  12. My Meijer has all of them but most of them are in wire bins and not in the displays. $1.99 there, too. Right now they are at least sorted by type.

  13. Like Devi said, the Meijer's here have the pumpkin polishes in bins (only they're $2.49 here...weird). There's a ton more colors, such as glitters a la the upcoming OPI Muppets collection, two multi-colored glitters, a blue flakie a la Color Club Covered In Diamonds, and a silver and black circle glitter one. :D

  14. While I was out yesterday finding Autumn Leaves I picked up two of these. I got the orange glitter and the the green glow in the dark one (the one that looks most like the traditional glow in the dark color.) Haven't messed around with the orange yet but my daughter wanted the GitD one on right away. As long as you "charge" it up first it really works well! Very glowy. I think I'm going to go back and get the one with the moon glitter in it. Oh, and each time I've seen these they are in the Halloween aisle, NOT the makeup aisles.

  18. I was lucky enough to have the other half come home from the drug store with three of the glitter pumpkins the other day! :D The orange glitter one that looks jam packed is amazing - tons of orange hex glitter AND a bit of orange bar glitter is in that one too! Happy surprise! :D The orange & black bar glitter one is really fun. I also got the one with the one with the holo moons - it's a bit sparse but it's best to pick the moons out and place them with an orange stick anyway.

A question about these - I saw a photo on Body & Soul that showed a silver holo bar glitter pumpkin, a blue/purple glitter pumpkin, and so on... 6 different glitter pumpkins that were not in the full displays here. Are these regional (like some places get different pumpkins than others)?

  19. I saw these last week...my one question is do they really glow in dark? If any one knows, please respond! I love the idea of a tru glow in the dark polish. I know OPI is coming out with one that really works but would rather spend less of course! :)

  20. I saw these at my local Meijer also, not at my local Rite Aid yet. I live in Southern Ohio. The Meijer had a lot more variety in the glitter ones than you have pictured. I picked up a lot of them and I am thinking I may go back for more! Thanks for the pics! Good hunting guys!

  22. Tara Tee, I'm lusting for that flakie now. I'll probably never see that one, which makes me sad.
