Nouveau Cheap readers have spoken! Your fave drugstore foundation brand is...

After running this poll for one month and receiving over 800 votes (thanks to all who voted!) here are your choices for the best drugstore brand when it comes to foundation:

First Place
Revlon
(280 votes)

Second Place
Maybelline
(113 votes)

Third Place
L'Oreal
(62 votes)

Also earning a respectable number of votes:

CoverGirl
(61 votes)

Physicians Formula
(49 votes)

Neutrogena and Rimmel
(tied with 44 votes each)

Rounding out the bottom:

Prestige and Sonia Kashuk (3 votes each), Black Radiance (1 vote)

If you voted on this poll, I'd love to hear exactly what your favorite drugstore foundation (brand, name, shade) is, and if you voted for Revlon, is it because you love ColorStay or another line? Also, if you voted "other", please let us know what brand you would have voted for if it had been an option!

Do you agree with these results? Did anything surprise you?

PS: My new poll is up and I would LOVE if you'd take a minute to vote on it (see right-hand sidebar). I'm taking a little break from drugstore products (just for a month) to see what YOU would like to see more of on this blog. So your vote is VERY important to me, and you can select multiple answers. Thanks in advance for voting--I would really love your feedback!

  1. I use both Rimmel Lasting Finish in Soft Beige and Revlon Colorstay in shade 310 for combo/oily skin. I really love them both but I seem to use the Rimmel more, as it is more affordable and comes in a squueze tube. But if they put Revlon on sale i definetly buy some. I also like Revlon Photoready but i need to get a darker shade.

  2. I voted for Revlon and wasn't at all surprised that it won. Colorstay is such a popular foundation line and that's why I picked Revlon. My favorite foundation is Colorstay for Combination/Oily Skin in the color Natural Tan.

  4. I voted for Rimmel, I use Stay Matte and Cool Matte 16 Hr Mousee! The mousse I is the one I ALWAYS go back to using after trying a new foundation. Although, just recently Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse so next time I may poll I may vote for Maybelline!

  5. I voted for Maybelline... I adore their Dream line because they have a shade that is light and pink... Plus it lasts on me. While Dream Matte is too matte and Dream Smooth Mousse is a bit too moist, Dream Liquid Mousse in Porcellain Ivory is perfect on me!

I do like CG Natureluxe, so that is a close runner- up for me. And PF Healthy Wear SPF 50 is a staple for me, too.

  6. I voted Physicians formula since they have a handful of powder and mineral foundations that I love. my two favs from them are the mineral wear pressed face powder in translucent light and mineral wear 100% mineral facebrightner in translucent glow. They don't break me out and i really dont like liquid foundation and cream breaks me out if i wear it everywhere, and their powder foundations d ont break me out or make me look super dry (since I have super dry skin) ♥

  7. Yay for revlon. It's the only foundation I finished lol. I'm currently out, so I'm using my other foundation that I forgot I had.

  8. I use Revlon colorstay in warm golden in the oily/combination formula. I think the color is a bit too yellow for me during winter, but I love this foundation. Glad revlon won, they have great products :)

  10. I use Revlon ColorStay in Rich Tan and PhotoReady in Rich Ginger. Great colors for girls with a natural tan or otherwise. :)

  11. Not surprised by the results. I wish I could wear drugstore foundation but they either break me out, don't have my shade or it doesn't match in terms of undertone, or it oxidize on my like crazy. I was the sole vote for Black Radiance but that stuff transfer everywhere *lol*.

  12. I voted 'other' - my favourite drugstore brand has been the same for years: Bourjois (I'm currently loving Healthy Mix Serum). Great formulae and most importantly they actually cater to the very fair-skinned folks.

  14. I was contemplating on voting for Revlon bc I love Colorstay but on the other hand I really do love Maybelline Dream Mousse Foundation- I have been using it for years and I will always love it as my fav until I find another foundation that I keep buying for years- with that said Maybelline trumps Colorstay

  15. I use all top 3 only, funnily enough. The only ones that haven't broke me out and wears nicely.

  16. I voted Revlon because I started using the Spa foundation when I could no longer wear BE on my mature skin.

  17. I voted for Maybelline, because I've been using the Dream Matte mousse for several months and liking it! (I use Natural Ivory in that line.) While I know a LOT of people have trouble with the formula, I've found using it over a primer, with a really light touch, and then setting it with powder (Palladio's translucent rice powder in my case), makes it look good and stay put. I really, really enjoy the cream formulation and don't mind a little extra effort to make it work.

With it getting warmer, I may switch back to my old standby of PF's mineral foundation in Creamy Natural. I can see the cream foundation getting to be a little much in the hot weather.

I also use Covergirl's Fresh Complexion concealer in Creamy Natural, though the post is about foundation, that may also help someone determine my coloring.
