The Wednesday Question

I thought I'd ask a fun "what if" type of question today, and I can't wait to see your responses:

If you had access to a magical drugstore that had everything in stock (all brands, all shades, all limited edition collections), what would be the first thing you'd purchase?

I'm so excited to see your answers to this one!

  1. Revlon's Street Wear polishes. Hands down. I remember my sister having them, and I only wish she wouldn't have gotten rid of most of her polish before she married! I would love to own them!

  2. I'd buy about a boat load of that darn L/E Revlon Fashion Nite Pout Lipstick!! I'd finally have it for me and my daughter and could stop looking for it, plus I'd make a fortune on Ebay!!! Can you tell this one is making me crazy!!

  3. * The new Organix skincare stuff

  4. I seem to be going for the nostalgia bent assuming that this magic store has a time machine:

    1) Revlon Afterglow Lipstick circa 1984 - sheer opalescent shade

    2) Revlon Torchblue Lilac eyeshadow. I was obsessed with it when I was like 10 years old and too young to wear it. Vibrant electric lilac shade.

    3) Maxi Colors To Go eyeshadow shades from the early 80's

    4) My mom's favorite, signature shade of lipstick from the 60's - Max Factor Frosted Mango

    5) The original Love's Lemon Soft cologne

    6) Kate Spade's original fragrance

    7) Another product from my childhood I lusted after - Stagelight eyeshadow. They still sell it online only and the photos are horrible. Fyrinnae's shades are the closest I've seen.

    8) L'Occitane Vanilla - the new version (few years old) just isn't the same.

    9) Gee, Your Hair Smells Terrific shampoo/condish and the original Herbal Essence shampoo. Both smelled so delicious!

    Ahh, memories!

  5. Wayback Machine...Back in the 1970's my mom had this pot lipgloss that was watermelon-scented. I don't recall the name, only that it was in a square plastic container. Mom would take a tissue and dab that gloss on it randomly because our cat Sherman went completely mental over those tissues!!!

Oh, as for me? I picked up a Loreal lip liner in a shimmery pretty nude back in the late 90's. I don't recall the name of the color. Of course it's discontinued and I've never found a good substitute. I'd give an ovary for that liner!

  6. I would like to go with the time machine idea too. I would buy all of the Sally Hansen Prism polishes, and like Latinminx79, I would also get myself every BE Buxom lipgloss ever made!

  11. drugstore only right? it would have the old school herbal essences. oh my goodness how amazing did those things smell! it was the only shampoo that the smell would linger on me four hours. they didn't do anything for my hair but i'd buy them and do a once over after i condition my hair just to get the smell in there!

alsooo the sally hansen carmindy airbrush foundation. i can't find those anywhere and i've always wanted to try it.

  12. As a nail polish lover, I would love to see all of the hard to find or LE collections, from Wet N Wild, Revlon, Maybelline, Sally Hansen, etc. I would also love to see some of the colors or brands that are exclusive to other countries. I have seen so many great pictures of polish only to be sad that I can't easily find it, like some Rimmel UK exlusive shades that I have seen.

  13. Revlon black colorstay automatic liner.
    Those new Revlon summer polishes.
    And styli-style eyeliners.

  14. Every single mascara to do the ULTIMATE comparison. ;D

  15. Definitely the Revlon Streetwear line.

This will really show my age - the original Aziza line (not the Aziza II stuff you find in Dollar Tree) had some amazing products - I had this deep blue-purple duochrome powder eyeshadow that had pink flash to it, and a frosty pink lipgloss - very 1980s!

  16. John Frieda Surf Spray! I miss that stuff so much.

Revlon Streetwear, most definitely. I miss the nail polishes and the cream eye shadows.

  17. @ Carolyn ditto on the John Freida Surf Spary. I cant seem to find anything like it. Why would you discontinue such a popular product?
@Memommon: I am just now seeing the Fashions night pout display at my Wags. One of my Walgreens seems to get more LE stuff than the other. But it weird that the other one will have other stuff i like that the other one doesnt oh well they r only 2 miles apart.

  18. Oh and i would like to get the new Go Gold LE Wnw bronzer and eyeshadow. I hope they come to my area. When someone spots them please let us know!!!!

  19. I'd get every single one of the old Jane lipsticks (lipkicks maybe?). They were flavored and amazing!

And I also severely miss the StreetWear collection.

AND the whole Fetish line. Especially the little lipglosses in toothpaste-like tubes!

    What a great question! :)

  20. Every Revlon and Wet N Wild LE product. Or new product for that matter. :D

  21. I def agree! The John Frieda surf spray!!! Aaaand more Yes to Carrots products!

    ReplyDelete
  22. all the wet n wild new le collections. china glaze omg collection-- there is just too many things I want that I can't make up my mind.

  23. Olay Sheer Ribbons Body Wash.... It smells ah-mazing and I can't find it anywhere anymore! Boo....

Also, the Palladio tinted lip balms, which are incredible.

    ReplyDelete
  24. THe revlon streetwear def! I had a purple lipstick I loved when I was 8 or so.

Also those flavored lipsticks jane used to have!

I can't find the jane loose powder anymore and I can never find it in light, so that would be great. The jane gel liners are also impossible to find. I have high end alternatives but none that are cheap that I like.

  25. I miss the old L'oreal Lipsticks in the gray tubes & the Ultima line (best neutrals ever).

    ReplyDelete
  26. Maybelline MoistureExtreme lipsticks, I'm confident that Maybelline will relaunch it under a different name though

    ReplyDelete
  27. I'd love to get another bottle of Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure (or know that it was going to be made perm, haha).

I miss the old scent of Herbal Essences Totally Twisted shampoos and conditioners. I actually saw a bottle of the conditioner yesterday at Big Lots, but I would only buy them together since I don't use anything with sulfates anymore since I don't use anything with silicones. (The new scent of the product, much like many other scents, makes me ill. :( )

    ReplyDelete
  28. a discontinued bonne bell lip gloss from the early 2000's - Revlons stick/creme foundation in the gold twist up tube thingy & of course this magical drug store would *have* to have every single note-able nail polish in stock and not eBay or ebeauty gouger prices either.

    ReplyDelete
  29. The old version of Black Radiance blush. Beautiful color payoff but it shatters so easily.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I agree with original Herbal Essence shampoo. I wish they would bring that fragrance back, it doesn't have to be the original formula (which was drying on me) but why can't they use the original fragrance in at least one of their new formulations?

Also Sally Hansen prisms and magical polishes.

And waaaaay back in the 80s there was this mail order company called Cosmetique, that would send you make up every month for about $20 per package, if I remember correctly. Anyway, one of their start up packages was Calvin Klein eye shadows, lipstick/gloss, and blush. I loved those eye shadows and want them back!

I wouldn't mind buying some Revlon Streetwear too!

  31. Revlon colorstay overtime lash tint. Super dark, no clumps and it stayed on for days. And anything 90's Jane. They made a twist-up stick grapefruit face scrub that I carried around in my handbag and still mourn to this day. And they made some really great polishes and eyeshadows.

  32. I know I'm a little late on this but I have to comment.
I, too, totally miss the original Herbal Essences scents. Also Revlon Outrageous shampoo and conditioner. The smell was to die for.
But for a cosmetics line, I would love to have access to all of the NYX line. I can't find them anywhere near me and I've heard such great things.
Also would love to have an Inglot near me. They have, hand down, the best eyeshadow I have ever worn.
