  1. True or not, I don't care. I rarely shop Sephora anyway......and I just got a 10oz body wash & matching 4oz dry oil spray (the Sephora collection Coconut Milk scent, on sale)plus samples, for $1.65! Thanks, G!

  2. what does it mean to be blacklisted? sorry, I literally just placed an order using this deal, and am kind of worried!

  3. rosarita: Thank you for that. :)

Elise: I believe that would mean that they wouldn't let you order from the site again. I don't know that this is absolutely 100% true, but if you're concerned, I would call them tomorrow during business hours (which I 100% plan to do myself) and express concern about this. I'll keep you updated after I call them myself.

  6. is is possible to use the deal IN STORES or would you have to use the $40 min then get $15 off thanks

  7. This year is the first time I receive the gift code, but I still cannot use it on Sephora's website. No matter what amount I purchase ($9 or $48), the gift code just doesn't apply. This happens to my roommate, too.

  8. Now I'm hearing that NO ONE got blacklisted, and that the worst that can happen is that Sephora will simply cancel your order. So...all I can do is call Sephora tomorrow and report back. I feel absolutely awful about this and I apologize if it brought you any stress. Please know that was the LAST thing I wanted.

  9. The thing is, if you look on the gift card, no where on there does it say that you have to spend $40. Just in the email. But if you print it out and cut out the part it says to take into the store, it just doesn't say it. I think they shouldn't punish their buyers just because they messed up. Especially if this is something that happened last year as well. They should prepare for it. Please keep us updated! Here's hoping for the best! :)

  10. Qian: Are you taking out the spaces when you put in the gift card number? If you are copy and pasting (with the spaces) that might be why its not being accepted. Just thought I'd mention that. :)

  12. Ok, so I would love the code? I missed the original post... :( Can I get the code?? I would love to see what this original post was about...

    Thanks hun!

  13. Lindsay Landis: My roommate and I both enter our gift card numbers without the space. I think it might be a problem of the Sephora website. =(

  14. Umm.. what loop hole are you talking about?? I'm so confused! I didn't read the earlier post and looked for it but it wasn't there? Thanks!

  15. A comment from Musings of a Muse's blog said that according to Sephora's Facebook page, Beauty Insiders and VIB's should've received their gift cards via e-mail/snail mail by Friday afternoon, Dec. 3rd. If not, you should call customer service (1-877-SEPHORA). So I called and they gave me my gift card & pass code over the phone. Call them if you haven't gotten yours as it's good only until December 13th.

I believe Beauty Insiders get a $15 gift card and VIB's get $20. The customer rep said that you have to spend a minimum of $40 online but there's no minimum at the store.

I don't know anything about the blacklisting rumors or whether the gift card will work online for less than a $40 order, but I do know this: the VIB online code V436CB (I got this from Temptalia's 11-22nd blog post, no deadline mentioned) for 10% off still works and works WITH the gift card. That means if you're a VIB and order $40 worth online, you pay only $16 (a 60% discount) plus shipping with the gift card/code combo. If you order $50, you pay only $25 (a 50% discount) and get FREE shipping.

Hope that helps and happy hauling!

  17. HA HA!!!! I was so tickled about this post. If it were true, how silly would that be? To get blacklisted over makeup? ;o)

  18. This is the 1st I've heard about such rumors. I used my coupon last year & am going to use it again this year, God willing. LOL

I think the point of their giving us this coupon is to encourage shopping. They are banking on the fact that we will spend more. No pun intended. They want us to reach VIB status so we will continue to shop w/ them. I'm not understanding how using the incentive would get us blacklisted.

You are doing what you do best...helping us to save $. Thanks for sharing about the rumor. I don't think it's true though. HTH

  19. Pretty sure I used it last year, and just did last night for some nars polish.... hopefully sephora hasn't shoved their head up their own ass by blacklisting wonderful customers. I guess I could switch to QVC, they have good sales.

  20. Also, if it wasn't for the coupon, and believing that there was no minimum order, I would not have made ANY purchase last night. But because of the coupon, I spent 8 bucks. It's just 8 bucks, but I usually spend at least 60 to 100. I just want to remind sephora that every sale counts. And also it makes no sense that there would be no minimum in the store but a minimum online, so hopefully that's not the case. I'm getting very annoyed at Sephora... usually I love them.

  21. I saw your post last night and it did work for me this morning. I'll let you know if my order gets cancelled though.

It seems silly to have a minimum that isn't enforced and it's probably because it just acts as giftcard and isn't a special code.

I was plenty happy to receive $40 worth of products for $25 though. I've been wanting to try Benetint for a million years, but as soon as I read about your deal, I looked for something else.

Don't feel bag, G. You were just spreading the news, but I think removing the post was a good idea. Thanks for always being honest with us and sharing the latest info!

  22. Be carefully when copying and pasting the code number/ I got an error saying the number was invalid but what happened was when copying and pasting the number into the gift card box it created spaces between some of the numbers. When you delete the spaces some of the numbers at the end of the code were left out because the giftcard space only allows 16 characters. So make sure the last digits of the giftcard are present or you'll get the error that it doesn't apply.

  23. OK ladies, I just got off the phone with Sephora. I explained my situation to a VERY helpful rep, and she told me that there is absolutely no "blacklisting" going on for using this promotional code. She even checked with her supervisor, who confirmed this.

I explained that I used the code and it went through without me meeting the $40 requirement, and I said that if this was in any way, shape or form perceived by Sephora as something unethical, I would gladly cancel the order or do anything that needed to be done to stay in good standing. She said that it was fine, that I just "got lucky". I explained that the code went though with no issues when I used it, and she said it was fine the way it was, and there are no plans to blacklist anyone at all.

So if you used the code, here's my advice: Call Sephora and explain the situation like I did. Hopefully the rep you get will put your mind at ease about this, and the very worst case scenario might be that they cancel your order.

I personally would MUCH rather have a cancelled order vs. the possibility that someone may perceive what I did as unethical, so it was very important to me to take this matter seriously and call them to confirm.

I cannot speak for Sephora (nor do I claim to!). I'm merely sharing MY experience with you, and it was absolutely positive and put my mind at ease.

I want to thank those of you who left such nice, supportive comments on this post. I will admit that I get very excited when it comes to helping save you money, and that's the ONLY reason I posted my original post. If you've been reading this blog for a while, I hope you know that I would NEVER UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE do, or encourage YOU to do, anything unethical when it comes to a good bargain. I was simply sharing information about a code that was working for many people (without a minimum order requirement) and that's all.

At the end of the day, a free lip gloss just isn't worth this type of stress. I hope you agree! A clear conscience is worth more than all money in the world to me, so I'm glad that I made the call and got it straightened out.

Thanks so much for your support, and I hope that brings this issue to a close!

  24. Thank you for posting that reminder and tip for using my card. Mine was VIB for 20%. I bought a $19.00 item, and after shipping and tax my total was $6.52. I hope my order will still go through, given the other comments.

  26. It would be nuts for sephora to blacklist people for this. It's their fault for sending out a promotion that you put in the gift card field when thier site can not differeniate between the $20/$15 off cards and real gifts cards. I'm sure some people used it accidently. I used mine and spent less than 40. I did not do it on purpose to screw Sephora. I just looked at the card when it came in the mail and saw that it said $20 gift card and I did not read the fine print on the back. It's not like it says $20 off on the card, you have to read the fine print on the back to find out. I placed the order and then realized later that it was $20 off $40 later from reading blog posts. Honestly, I would not have used it if I realized I had to spend $20 to use it. I've ordered a lot from sephora the last few months for gifts and because of the friends and family sale. If Sephora wants this problem to stop maybe they should stop pretending it is a gift card in the first place. $20 off $40 or $15 off $40 is not a gift card, it's a promotion. Call it a promotion, send people a coupon code, problem solved.

  27. I actually just printed out the "giftcard" and brought it to Sephora, sadly mine was the $15 off $40 one not $20 off $40
