What foundation primer do you use, and do you use it every day?
A lot of people skip this step in their daily routine (guilty as charged--I only use it when I know I need to look extra-polished and/or the weather is warm) so if you don't use foundation primer at all, feel free to leave a comment and let us know that too. But for those of you who do use foundation primer, what brand do you use, and do you use it every day? I am still obsessed with Black Radiance's foundation primer and I reach for it every time I really need my makeup to stay put. So tell me, what do you use?
The primer I use is technically not a primer at all. I use Benefit's Dr. Feelgood, and I absolutely adore it. I know a lot of people hate it, but it just works really well with my skin chemistry and whatnot, and gives me a perfect base. I honestly don't know how I survived before I found this product. I definitely use it every day. In fact, I've used it so much that I've hit the pan! I really need to look into buying another tin of it, but I dread the hefty price tag.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was still a novice make up junkie, I used to splurge on Laura Gellar primer. (It was A.MAZ.ING) I did use it daily, but *NOW* that I know a thing or two about quality and price, I have given the ELF mineral primer a try. I have only had it for a few days, but if it rocks, I will surely come back and update you all. I really wanted to try the BR primer, because my skin is also oily, but I can't seem to find it anywhere around me...(NJ).
ReplyDeleteI use Rimmel Fix and Perfect, but only w/Physician's Formula liquid foundation, because when it dries, it leaves a cakey, powdery, yucky finish. I haven't tried any other primers, even though I have heard good things about L'Oreal; it's just so expensive!
ReplyDeletei've tried so many primers and unfortunately i'm still looking for the right one. the smashbox one was the best in terms of how it felt on my skin...but other than that, they've all given me the same problem. they don't keep my makeup on! my foundation always fades so quickly and i have yet to find one that will make it last longer :\
ReplyDeleteWhen I used to have money, I used Smashbox primer. Now, I rarely use a primer at all but when I do, I use Monostat Anti Chafing gel. It has the same basic ingredients as Smashbox primer for less money. I think I read about it on makeupalley.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog!
I really only wear makeup when my husband and I go out, but when I do wear makeup, I use MAC's Prep + Prime. I love the light reflectors in it, and this product works very well at keeping my oily skin in order. I really appreciate the touch of my skin when I use this primer. My face usually gets rid of anything I put on it.
ReplyDeleteI use Maybelline Ageless Rewind Primer under my Foundation Daily and Urban Decay Primer Potion under my eyeshdaow daily. I also just purchased Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy for my pigments and more glittery eyeshadows..
ReplyDeleteI usually don't wear primer because none of them work for me, but I love to put Clinique instant pore minimizer over my t zone and anywhere my foundation sinks into lines. It makes my pores invisible and now my foundation doesn't exaggerate my smile lines
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm rotating between a full size primer and a few deluxe samples. My full size is Loreal's Studio Secrets primer. The two deluxe samples I have are Korres Quercetin & Oak Age-reversing Primer and the Sephora Brand Smoothing Primer. I use one of the three every day!!
ReplyDeleteI use a Bare Minerals primer that I got from Sephora. I use it on most days, but not everyday, and I only use it on my T-zone since I'm acne-prone on my cheeks and don't want to risk it. I think it doesn't do anything amazing, but I'm just using it for fun. :)
ReplyDeleteI use Monistat anti-chafing gel and it works very well for me. I've never really tried anything else so I can't compare it to anything except not wearing a primer at all. The MACG does keep my makeup on all day so I am happy with it.
ReplyDeleteI don't use primer every day. My most recent moisturizer - The Body Shop's Seaweed Mattifying moisturizer with SPF 15 sort of works a bit like a primer but it's not one.
ReplyDeleteThe primers I have that I love, when I use them are:
Camellia Rose V2.0 Skin Smoothing primer
and
Fyrinnae Velvet-Gel Silica Primer.
I use Rimmel Fix and Perfect primer every day, but just under my eyes. It makes my thick concealer glide on smoothly.
ReplyDeletei have only recently begun to use primer, i hate wearing liquid foundation! but i'm using maybelline's new instant age rewind and it's working well for me.usually , i wear the primer and only a kabuki brush applied bronzer. i love eye make up but i want my face to be sheer so i don't look too overdone.
ReplyDeleteI always use a primer. I was using the new Maybelline one a lot, but it was making me too oily.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm loving Neutrogena's Oil-Free Fresh Moisture as a primer. I originally got it hoping it would be a good summer moisturizer, but it's amazing as a foundation primer! It tightens pores and controls oil. PLUS, you get 3oz of product which is more than you get with most primers. Good stuff. ^-^
