I'm getting off to a bit of a late start with my usual Wednesday Question, but I hope you'll take the time to leave your answer in the comments because I'd really like to see your responses!
What's your go-to foundation?
Let me make if very clear that I am not asking you for your FAVORITE foundation. I'm asking you to tell me what foundation you reach for you when you know you're in a hurry, you've got to get out the door and you want to put something on your face that is dependable and can easily be applied with good results. You may have a foundation that you adore, but requires a bit of extra work (a foundation brush, serious blending, etc.) to get it looking just right. So let me hear about the foundation you grab when you just need something that's going to make you feel confident to walk out the door, and that you can depend on. For me, that's currently my Physicians Formula SPF 50 powder foundation. And you?
Mine is The Body Shop's All In One Face Base. I only ever have one foundation on hand, though, so I'm not sure if my vote counts, haha.
ReplyDeleteI have to say that my go-to is Silk Naturals' mineral foundation. It provides a really good natural finish that doesn't look out of place if I have no other makeup on my face, in part because it covers up my hyperpigmented cheeks just well enough to make it look like a faint blush =]
ReplyDeleteIt's not my favorite, however, because it's not good at oil control (it's actually meant to be moisturizing) and, as a consequence, it doesn't last on my face more than 5 hours.
When I'm in a hurry and just want a quick application of makeup, I actually don't even wear a foundation. Just some concealer and matifying powder does it for me. I just don't think it's necessary to wear foundation everyday. I actually only wear foundation on more "special" occasions. But day to day? nope.
ReplyDeleteBut that's just me. =]
By the way, Recessionista, I've been looking for a good lip stain lately, and so I bought Palladio's Lip Ink in Pinky due to your recommendation on one of your Palladio posts, and I love it! XD Thanks for that!
Olay's tinted moisturizer (whatever it's called).
ReplyDeleteRevlon Colorstay!!
ReplyDeleteMeow Pampered puss foundation ;)
ReplyDeleterevlon colorstay!!
ReplyDeleteWell, it's also my favorite foundation. But I use it in a hurry too, because I only have to blend it in with my fingers. It's Revlon Colorstay Active. I wear the palest one (Ivory?) and it matches my skin perfectly, blends in well, and gives my skin an even, dewy finish. I've been using it for about 3 years now.
ReplyDeleteBelieve it or not, I love Cover Girl Clean Oil Control Makeup. It provides light-medium coverage, a natural matte finish, and the most silky texture EVER!
ReplyDeleteFor me, thats Bare Minerals. Since its a powder, I just open the lid, swirl my brush around, and apply. I think Revlon Colorstay is better overall, but I have to wait for it to dry
ReplyDeleteCovergirl aqua smooth makeup. It's a cream to powder. The finish is flawless, and it's my perfect match. My skin has very neutral undertones, and most other fdtns are too warm or cool. This hits the nail on the head
ReplyDeleteDefinitely CovreGirl TruBlend. It's a cream, and it blends in sooooo easily with only a little application and you're good. It's got medium coverage, so I kinda layer it on.
ReplyDeleteI'm so used to applying my foundation with a brush (I use Colorstay with the E.L.F. flat-top powder brush) that it's what I do most days, lazy or not. But lately I've been enjoying more and more often the ease and convenience of using a tinted moisturizer I mixed myself - about 2 parts moisturizer to 1 part Colorstay (I shook mine up in a plastic bottle and added a pump). I just blend it all over my face and set with powder. If I need extra coverage anywhere I'll dab on liquid concealer. Super easy!
ReplyDeleteWell I just completely blanked on the name, but it's the Almay one that like magically matches your skin tone. I only use it when I'm in a hurry, though.
ReplyDeleteMine is either Iman Foundation stick or Black Radiance mineral makeup.
ReplyDeleteMy go-to foundation AND my current favorite is Maybelline Pure.makeup h20 foundation, it's affordable, doesn't irritate my skin, and I find that it blends really nicely and also stays put all day.
ReplyDeleteMine would be my Sephora brand pressed mineral double compact foundation. It has a neat double sided sponge with two different textures, so depending on what kind of finish I want (and if I have 2 minutes or 5 minutes!) I can choose the sponge side or the fuzzy side. And it's also SPF 10, which is a plus. This is normally $22, but I got it for cheaper because I had a gift card.
ReplyDeleteIn fall/winter it's MF Pan Stik, which sadly is no more. at least in the states. and in spring/summer it's Milani's pressed mineral foundation.
ReplyDeletePonds Tinted Moisturizer in Sheer Ivory is what does the trick for me :D
ReplyDeleteI like to spend time applying and blending out my foundation on days I wear it and when I don't have the time, I just don't wear any! haha But! Will this count? I reach for NARS Custard concealer on those foundation free days to cover up undereye circles and blemishes. Does the job for me!
ReplyDeleteI would say Revlon's Mineral Mousse Foundation in Medium Deep. It's not my favorite foundation but it is so easy to apply and it helps control my oil all day long.
ReplyDeleteI don't use foundation for all over my face (that'll take too long) but I use EDM Semi-matte formula and just go over trouble spots. Gets rid of redness really nicely and doesn't get cakey either :)
ReplyDeleteMy go-to is the same as yours :-) ... you rec'd it, I needed it, I bought it, & I fell in love with it :-)
ReplyDeleteI like how my skin looks with the PF Healthy Wear powder even more so than I do with liquid foundations!
So thank you!
i have been testing a couple foundations lately, but my HG, forever face that always gets me out the door looking polished yet natural is L'Oreal True Match. I am a total broken record on the subject. the colour range is impressive and i can always find a match whether i am winter-pale or summer-golden. the texture is light and natural, it soaks right into your skin, it photographs well, and wears well. i do find that i need to repowder my nose by lunchtime but that's a minor issue.
ReplyDeletethe matching pressed powder is also very nice though i find it makes my skin look dull compared to the liquid. oh and the concealer is very nice as well though i am a Maybelline 24-hour Superstay convert because it does have better staying power (which i find impressive).
My go-to foundation is Laura Mercier's mineral powder foundation. I can apply it super quickly, and it gives a very natural glow. I just add a little concealer, and my skin is good to go!
ReplyDeleteLadies, thank you SO much for your great answers to this question! You've definitely given me some ideas for quick and easy foundations to check out! You're the best! xo
ReplyDeletemine would be benefits some kind of gorgeous in medium or revlon photoready in nude -which by the way have you tried?
ReplyDeleteJ: You know what? I was tempted at first to try Photoready, but after reading many reviews, I've decided that it's probably not a good fit for me. I have heard that it doesn't work so well with oily skin, and that the coverage is sheer (I prefer med-to-full coverage). Do you agree? Thanks! :)
ReplyDeleteI am not good with make-up... I really dont know how to apply them. The only things I put on my face are: lipstick (since I am most of the time pale), blush-on (for the same reason) and 2-way powder foundation.
ReplyDeleteSo there, to answer the question it's the 2-way powder foundation that I use that does the magic :)
Rimmel Lasting Finish, it's one of my favorites! Unfortunately I think it's discontinued -_-
