The Wednesday Question

I've got a bit of a head-cold right now (sniffling and sneezing) but nothing's going to stop me from posting my Wednesday Question, darnit! If you're a new reader of Nouveau Cheap, Wednesday's my favorite day of the week because it's the day I get to her from YOU! Even if you don't ordinarily comment on this blog, this is a chance for you to contribute to the conversation and share you wisdom with the rest of us. I love to read your responses to my Wednesday Question because I learn SO much from you ladies--you give me wonderful ideas for future products to try and review. That said, here's this week's question:

What's your favorite Holy Grail drugstore product?

For some it might be hard to limit it to just one product, but try, ok? I want to hear your #1 Holy Grail product that can be found at the drugstore. So let's hear your answers! Right now, mine has GOT to be Maybelline SuperStay Concealer (which I reviewed a little while ago). Love love love it!

And with that, I'm going back to my hot mug of Theraflu and taking a nap. I'll be back soon to see your responses (and also reply to comments)! xo

PS: In my stuffy-headed stupor, I almost forgot to mention that I would LOVE for you to check out my latest We Heart This review for the e.l.f. smudge brush (my review is not the featured review so you'll need to scroll down to the comments to see what I wrote--click here). If there is just one brush that I could recommend you to buy from e.l.f. (aside from the $1 eyeshadow brush) it would be this one. So definitely check out the review if you're itching to buy some e.l.f. stuff. :)

  1. I think mine would be Revlon Colorstay Liquid Foundation. I also love Hard Candy's face primer!

  2. It would have to be a 3-way tie between wnw fine wink e/s, carmex lip balm, and nyc translucent loose face powder. love <3

  3. I was going to say Revlon colorstay foundation as well. It is a perfect match for me (yellow undertones), doesn't irritate my sensitive skin, super long lasting, and a perfect buildable medium-full coverage.
I know you said one but I also have to say that UD primer potion is a life saver, without I would rarely wear e/s.

  4. Ecotools brush set! I have a job for each and everyone one of them in the 5pc set. Amazing stuff. VERY SOFT. Use some of them everyday. And use all of them almost everyday.

  5. clean and clear morning glow facial moisturizer.

  6. This is hard but I've gotta say L'Oreal HIP duos. They are versatile and cheap and there is always color variety which are dupable to high end brands. Their texture is very nice and I use some colors for regular e/s, some for contour and others for blush & even to add a lil amp to a lip color.

  7. The Revlon Colorstay Eyeliner!

  8. hands down, Maybelline volum' Express Turbo Boost Waterproof mascara
Best mascara in comparison to any other I've tried, cheap or not

  10. i seem to use my covergirl tinted moisturizer a lot, so i guess i could consider that my holy grail product <3

  11. right now, it's covergirl outlast of the traditional lipstick/gloss combo. I tend to be a lipstick/gloss eater, and it's withstood being at work(in retail), and even going to bed with it. Don't worry, I don't sleep with makeup on,I wanted to see how well it would stay even in after tossing and turning.

P.S. I picked up some of that Tone blueberry antioxidant body wash you recommended a little while ago and it was amazing! I was taking it around to my coworkers to have them do the sniff test and I think I may have some converts.

Also, I don't know if this is pertinent about e.l.f stuff at Target, but I asked one of my supervisors if they were putting it out. He said he didn't know, that they had just set the after Christmas makeup displays but they only stay for 6 weeks at a time. So a spring launch, perhaps?

  12. St. Ives' Apricot Scrub: Great fro face, body, feet, hands, lips...even my boyfriend loves it!

  13. Oh man, that's way too hard! I have a lot of drugstore favorites. I probably have an HG I could list for each category. I think I'll have to say it's a three-way tie between St. Ives Apricot Scrub, Wet N Wild liquid liner, and Revlon Matte lipstick in In The Red. These are things I will buy again and again for as long as I can find them because they work just the way I want them to!

  14. I'm going with Carmindy's bronzer - there's a matte portion (great for contouring) and a shimmery portion and a pinky portion! Pretty much the only thing I use every day.

  15. Olay Definity Color Recapture. Anti-aging serum, sheer color and spf 15 all in one. One step in the morning makes my skin look amazing all day and protects it from the sun. That with some pink lip balm and I'm ready to go!

  16. I'd maybe have to say this blush brush that I bought a looooooong time ago at walgreens, it's the perfect flat-dome shape and perfect size. they don't even carry the brand anymore, but that brush has lasted me forever.

Modern still-on-sale products, (lol) i'd have to say Revlon Matte lipsticks. I love them!

  17. my three-way tie would go to L'Oreal Infallible eyeliner, L'Oreal True Match liquid foundation, and Hard Candy Baked Blush in Honeymoon Peach. i wear these almost every day.

Runner-up: Maybelline XXL Extensions mascara (bought it at CVS 50% off, it's amazing for length!!!) and CG Lash Blast

  18. Styli-Style Line and Seal 24 eye pencils have terrific staying power. I prefer the automatic ones, but the regular pencils have more colors.

  19. I would have to say Cover Girl VolumeExact mascara-I have repurchased many times! New is Maybelline Super Stay foundation-one of the best drugstore foundations I have ever tried-great coverge, finish & staying power.

  20. Wet N Wild cream eyeliner! A hundred times better than MAC fluidline any day!

  21. Jane blushes!! I think I have all or most of the pressed blushes (both the ones in the black packaging and the ones in the silver packaging with the quilted design). Love 'em!

  22. I love the Maybelline color sensational lipsticks, milani bronzer, and NYC concealer.

  23. My current holy grail is Wet-n-Wild Sand Castle eyeshadow palette. It's got just the right colours for me I can do a subtle daytime looks or all out evening.

  24. Rimmel London Colour Rush Quad Eye Shadow #002 Smokey Brun. Love the shades for a neutral, everyday soft smokey eye.

  25. @Lara- that quad is awesome! i tried replacing it with a maybelline one in similar shades....it's not half as good.
and btw my name is Laura. :)

  26. My HGs would have to be L'Oreal True Match Liquid Foundation, Wet n Wild Bronzer in Acapulco Glow as a highlighter, and Wet n Wild blush in Naïve (the most perfect, soft coral blush). I think "Naïve" has been discontinued because I can't find it anymore, so I am babying the little bit I have left.

And I almost forgot the ELF Eyelash curler I found at The Dollar General. Seriously the best curler I've ever used and I only paid a buck for it!!

  27. well, as weird as it may seem, I am using Alberto VO5 shampoo for 3 years now, and I have hard time to switch to another shampoo...

  28. Ladies, you are AWESOME. I am loving reading all your HG products and I'm pleased to say that many of your HGs are my HGs too! But I did spot a few new-to-me products that I've jotted down. I'll definitely have to check 'em out when I spot a sale. As always, thank you for the wonderful response to my weekly question! xo
