Caress Evenly Gorgeous is a scent dupe of Bath & Body Works Sugared Shortbread!

I'm about to go waaaaaaay old school on you right now so stay with me, OK? One of my super sweet girlfriends gave me a bottle of Caress Evenly Gorgeous Body Wash recently, and the moment I sniffed it I knew I had smelled that scent before. Then it hit me: Caress Evenly Gorgeous Exfoliating Body Wash smells EXACTLY like Bath & Body Works Sugared Shortbread shower gel from their 2001 Holiday Collection.

2001, you say? I know. I'm amazed that I could even make the connection, given how many products I smell on a daily basis. But I'm telling you, that scent is burned into my olfactory memory because I freaking LOVED it. I searched and searched in vain for a picture of Sugared Shortbread online, but I couldn't find one. I can totally remember the bottle because it was so DARN cute. It was opaque white with a little blue holiday scene on the bottle, and the holiday scene was delicately outlined in iridescent glitter. I'm telling you, it was one of the cutest bottles BBW has ever made, which makes it all the more a tragedy that there are no pics of it online.

Anyway, if you remember Sugared Shortbread, you need to sniff Caress Evenly Gorgeous and tell me if you agree. This is a scent dupe if I've ever smelled one.

And by the way, I am really liking Caress Evenly Gorgeous! Aside from the awesome scent, it's a nice shower gel that feels great on the skin and isn't drying. Plus, it contains some great ingredients like burnt brown sugar and karite butter (the fancy name for shea butter).

  1. I used to have a lot of shower scrubs, with nice scents and all, but i had to get rid of all of them given my allergies...now the closest i can be from sweet shower products is in the toiletries aisle of my Jumbo Hypermarket :( .

Anyway, it's so great to find someting that can replace that goold ol' scent that you looked so hard for.

  3. Hi Elena--I'm so sorry to the hear that! :( And thank you for the kind words--it is wonderful to have something new that smells just like an old favorite. :)

Hi Kenzie! Thank you so much for this! I don't think I could justify spending so much on a bottle of Sugared Shortbread, but it was AWESOME to be able to see that adorable bottle again! You rock! :)

  4. I absolutely ADORE Evenly Gorgeous. <3 I was sent a sample of it in the mail and I loved it so much I bought the full size bottle -- such a warm, sweet (but not cloying!) scent. If they came out with a body spray I'd TOTALLY buy it! :)

  5. I have this Caress body wash and while I really like it, there's a note in the scent that kind of bugs me. :( I'll still use it up, because sometimes I love the smell and it does feel awesome, but it's not my favorite.

  7. This particular one from Caress is a little too sweet for me. I find that pastry and sweets scents give me headaches. I'm glad you found a dupe that's worth your money :) Definitely better than paying $10 for BBW.

Oh! and before I forget, I was shopping at Parkway plaza today and I picked up gorgeous shadows for $1.99 each at this store called "Fresa" I think. It's next to Aldo and across from Victoria's Secret.

Anyhoo, I say a shade that looked like the NARS "California" shade there so you might want to go check that out. These shadows are by Nabi and this store carries maybe 40 of their shades. At $1.99 a pop, that's a delicious deal.

    Happy shopping, my dear! :)

  10. Hey Rachel! Oooh, I'd love this in a body spray too. :)

Hey Hana--I think I understand what you're saying here. There is a note that sometimes smells a little plastic-y to me, but I only detect that note every once in a while and it doesn't stick around long enough to bother me. lol. :)

    Hey Trisha--totally agree! xo

Shela! Girl, you are blowing my mind! A cheap eyeshadow brand that I've never heard of before and you can get it at Parkway Plaza?? I am SO there! Thank you SOOO much, honey! And how awesome are you to remember my quest for that NARS dupe? Oh I am totally going to Parkway this week and I'll report back! xoxo

Hi Anon! Me too! lol. :) In fact I just posted another one for Chanel Jade nail polish. :)

Hi minishoes1! I am right there with you. Love this stuff! :)

  11. I know, this one is pretty dang yum! I had forgotten all about that old school B&BW scent, your memory is SOOOOOO good!

  12. Hey Amber! I think the only reason I remembered this particular scent is because I was freaking *obsessed* with it, and also with the packaging. The just don't make 'em like they used to, I tell ya (said in my old granny voice). xo ;)

  13. Oh, anytime for you, my dear. I don't know why but I always come across that post when I'm on your blog. I've got to warn you that these Nabi shadows are fine and powdery and not quite as pigmented as I thought they'd be-- at least for the shimmery shades anyway. I only bought the really sparkly ones as opposed to the metallics and solid ones but I shall swatch them for you sometime regardless. :)

And I was wondering if there's a good eyeshadow primer you could recommend-- I find that my shadows blend and fade by the end of the day and it bugs me.

    Thanks!

  14. Hey sweetie! Thank you for the heads-up about those Nabi eyeshadows. What a bummer! When I go to Parkway, maybe I'll pick up a few of the metallics and see how those go. But definitely do some swatches because I really want to see the ones you got!

As for eyeshadow primer, I've only found three drugstore type products that seem to work for me: Sally Hansen Carmindy Fast Fix (you have to apply a very thin layer or else it will crease), Lumene Eyeshadow Primer and certain NYX jumbo pencils (not all shades work, and again you have to apply a VERY thin layer or it'll crease). Other than that, I'm afraid you'll have to hit up a dept. store/Sephora for Benefit F.Y.Eye (I used this for years and still love it--I think it's highly underrated), UDPP or Too Faced Shadow Insurance. What are you currently using?

  15. I am actually not using one. I've only used cream shadows as substitutes for primers but they're unreliable. Thank you so so much for these suggestions; I will keep them in mind when I look for a primer this weekend.

    :)

  16. I've got to say that if you really want to invest in a primer that's going to work 100% of the time, you might want to consider UDPP or TFSI. Those two, as I'm sure you're aware, are the most popular eye primers across all beauty bloggers and I think they'd be a worthy investment if you're totally frustrated with your eyeshadow creasing or disappearing. But if you're on a tight budget right now, Carmindy Fast Fix does the job *most* of the time (unless you're working with really inexpensive shadows--it doesn't really do much to save those) and I really like the Lumene primer too. xo
