Quick review: Sinful Colors San Francisco Nail Polish

Last week Walgreens was having a BOGO free on Sinful Colors nail polishes (retail: $1.99) so I took that as an opportunity to buy a color I've had my eye on for months now. "San Francisco" is a shimmery Christmas-green and I simply adore it.

It makes me happy just to look at it in the bottle and wearing it is so much fun. Everyone who sees this color on me smiles and even the people who may raise an eyebrow to wearing green nail polish smile (of course they could be smiling to stop themselves from laughing but I don't care!).

Here's a pic of my nails pre-clean-up:

Come on now, doesn't this color make you happy? :)

I have to say that this polish lasts a good three days on me without chipping (I used Orly Bonder base coat and NYC top coat). And I of course love the name of this shade. I used to live in the Bay Area and I've got to say, this color does indeed remind me of San Francisco.

What are your favorite Sinful Colors shades?

  1. I don't own any Sinful Colors nail polish - although I SHOULD since they are so cheap and the colors are so pretty.
That's a pretty green - reminds me of Xmas. Maybe that's why people are smiling when you wear it :).

  3. Glad to see you got in the sale as well, I wound buying 4 polishes.
    I got:
    Hottie 831
    Call You Later 932
    Nail Junkie 927
Purple Glitter (the sticker came off)

All the polishes I got were glitter formulas, I have a coupe of the regular polishes too. They are pretty good for $1.99. I love the color selection.

  4. Love this color!^^
You know, I also love to wear bold color in my nail polish.. I have The Face Shop nail polish in light blue shade, even my mom would say, "What IS that color??" Sometimes the color maybe look strange to others, but if I like it, I will wear it anyway.. LOL.. ^^

  6. I do love Sinful Colors polishes, for being so cheap they make a great variety of color and finish, and they last very well with a decent base & topcoat! I think San Francisco is a gorgeous color. I have another green of theirs that I just love, it's Show Me The Way. They also have some great vampy colors as well.

  7. Hey ndoodles! I think you need to take a trip to Walgreens and check out all the pretty colors in this line. :)

Hey MamaJen! I sort of agree. I've purchased some that are just so-so, but for every color I'm not wild about, I find one like San Francisco that I just adore. :)

Hey Kimberly! Wow, you got some great colors. I like their glitter polishes too--so fun to wear over other colors. :)

Hey Ceecile! I'm glad I'm not alone in my love for unconventional colors. But I've noticed that blues, greens, etc. have become a lot more mainstream in the last several years (Revlon even makes blue polishes now!) so maybe we'll get less stares from people eventually. lol. :)

Hey Halifax! Darn, I wish this was still going on for you! But I think you'll be getting a lot of other goodies so I bet you won't miss these! lol. :)

Hey Nicole! I agree--they have a lot of great vampy colors! I need to get more of those, actually, for fall and winter! :)

    Hey Phyrra! Thanks, sweetie! xo

  10. That green TOTALLY made me smile! Isn't it funny how much colors and fragrances trigger an emotional response? I guess that would explain my cosmetics addiction!

  11. Hey Amber! I'm so glad you agree. :) And yes, it's amazing how a simple scent or color can totally alter your mood. Love that! :)

  12. Very pretty! It looks a lot like my SH Xtreme Wear in 10 Emerald City. (I'm a former SF Bay Area resident too!) I love green too but I keep it on my toes cos I think it's a bit too forceful IMO. But if you love it, wear it anyplace you want! I also have a Sinful in 840 Mama-san that I haven't worn yet (a shimmery medium plum or mauve).

  13. Hey dicey! How cool that you're a former Bay Area resident too! Were you in the city? I was in North Bay. :)

I hear you about wearing this shade on your fingers. It can be a little much but I just love this color so I don't care. lol. I haven't tried Mama-san but it sounds gorgeous! Thanks for the tip. :)

  14. Be VERY careful using this polish though! It seeps through other polishes. I have it, I LOVE the color. But even when it's totally dry, when you put the top coat on it tints the brush/clear varnish green.. If you put on a second top coat it still comes away green. And it soaks through base coats the same way, staining your nails funky.
