Coming This December: NEW Almay Butter Kiss Lipsticks

Many thanks to reader Jessica (@jessicag_562 on Instagram) for letting me know that Cosmo for Latinas posted this sneak peek on their Instagram page today:

Coming this December: Almay Butter Kiss Lipsticks

Keep reading for more info and my thoughts about these...

First of all, I believe these will be new, permanent additions to the Almay lineup. According to the Cosmo for Latinas Instagram page, there are 12 shades in this range (eleven of which are pictured above). I love Almay's Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms and I'm excited to see them getting back into the lipstick game!

BEFORE you comment below about how these look a lot like Revlon Lip Butters, I want to remind you that Revlon owns Almay (they have for many years now) and many of Almay's products are similar to Revlon's (I've done posts about this in the past). We see this with sister companies all the time, so it's not surprising at all to me that these lip colors look a lot like Revlon Lip Butters.

That said, when I did a Google search for these today, the only thing that came up was the trademark filing. What's interesting is that the registered trademark for these is actually "Almay Smart Shade Butter Kiss" which perhaps means that these are color-adjusting? I don't know if that's true of course, but I know that existing Smart Shade products are self-adjusting.

At any rate, I'm super excited to try these when they launch. How about you?

Thanks so much, Jessica, for the tip about these!

  2. I am SO EXCITED ABOUT THESE!! Revlon's lip butters and Almay's liquid lip balms are literally my two favorite lip products. If these Butter Kiss Lipsticks are anything like either of those, I will be in heaven... and my wallet will not be pleased with me.

Having the barrel match the lipstick shade is a really interesting choice, too. I like it!

  3. I like the purple on the far left! I'm excited, I always look forward to almays new offerings because...I guess I just feel like they're the underdog of the drugstore lol I too love those gloss balms (great hydration!) I was very disappointed how crumby those new shadows were...I just want them to hit it out of the park! I dunno I'm rooting for them ;) I know they don't do much gimicky - new stuff so they don't get too much of my attention (I'll admit it lol) but I hope these are nice :)

  5. I REALLY hope if these are similar in quality to the lip butters that they have a color similar to Cherry Tart in this line. Found it this summer at Big Lots and fell in love... sadly I can't find any more of them and I've almost run through the two tubes I bought :(

  8. Oohh I love how the tube matches the lip shade!

I forgot that Revlon and Almay are sister companies.
I love a lot of Revlon lip products like the lip butters, but the only product from Almay that I own is the Color + Care Liquid Lip Balms. I do love those a lot so I hope this new lip product will be a big hit.

At a glance, the Almay Butter Kiss Lipstick shades seem similar to the Revlon lip butters. I hope they are different though.

  9. I've noticed Walgreens has some of the Revlon Butters on clearance. I wonder if they're going to slowly migrate the moisturizing line over the Almay, and replace the space in the Revlon display with the new HD shades?
