L'Oreal Double Extend Eye Illuminator (retail: $9.97)
According to Jamie, this product has mascara on one end, and then on the other end, the wand is sort of like the Telescopic Explosion wand, only with reflective pearl particles to "illuminate" your lashes. Sounds interesting!

L'Oreal The One Sweep Eye Shadow (retail: around $8)
Now this is the one I'm the MOST curious about. Three shadows, with a very large wand applicator (I'm not sure but I think it's a sponge). Apparently what you do is swipe the applicator in a downward motion against all three colors in the compact, and then when you apply it to your eye, you sweep across your eye. I have some doubts about how the color is supposed to transfer and make it looks like Eva Longoria's eyeshadow in the display, but hey, I'm willing to give it a whirl!
So, what you do you think of these new L'Oreal goodies? Anything catching your eye? I'd love to hear from you, and thanks again to Jamie and her lovely daughter Elissa for the great scoop!
Wow, that "one swipe" eyeshadow sounds like a recipe for disaster! Why won't they trust us to apply it properly, lol.

ReplyDeleteI'm very suspicious about the One Sweep eyeshadow. Not to be a Negative Nancy, but I think L'Oreal is assuming too much with this product.
ReplyDeleteI have very deep-set eyes, for example, so it's had for me to do a lot of the cool multi-color looks those makeup gurus are always doing. From the picture, it seem like this product assumes that when I close my eyes my lids become flat, and they do not. So, how effective is it going to be?
Am I the only one thinking this?
If the mascara is anything like the Version they put out for Lancome a few years ago I Have to get it. It had been a "limited Edition" thing and was so amazing. they called it Diamant, it gave this effect of tiny sparkles all over your lashes and when the Light Hit, You looked like a total Diva, I am going to have to buy this!

ReplyDeleteIs that Diane Kruger in the third ad? The one swipe shadow should be interesting. I predict some smeared shadows... but I hope it's good! I want to buy a lot of lipsticks these days, so I better slow down and try just one of the new ones.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info! I've seen the one swipe shadows IRL and it loks like you swipe across the pan then swipe it across your lid. The colors are supposed to line to look like you have a lid color, a darker crease color then a lighter brow bone color. The applicator looks like a sponge but I don't know if it is flexible to fit different shaped eyes. Very intersting though!
ReplyDeleteForgot to mention that overseas they have the Loreal Colour Riche Intense lipsticks... which look stunning, but I wish we had them too! This new Infallible line has the same model/ad but may or may not be the same thing with a just a different name. I've got my fingers crossed.

umm...one sweep? it looks like a standard highlight/lid/crease trio LOL I might get that pretty little neutral one if reviews are good, but I think the one sweep is a little ridiculous, i'm not putting a big old sponge on my lid and expect it to look like the look they did on eva. lol
ReplyDeleteOK guys (gals), it sounds like the consensus is we're ALL highly suspicious of the "One Sweep" eyeshadow! Trust me, when I find this locally, I WILL review it. Now I'm so curious I'm almost obsessed! I just cannot wait to see if this really works. I agree that it's sort of insulting IF they're assuming that we (consumers) need something like this because they think we're incapable of applying our eyeshadow in steps. BUT, if L'Oreal's goal was to provide us with a shadow that saves us time (ie: one swipe and we're out the door) then I think I applaud them for it (if it actually works). Thoughts?

ReplyDeleteIt is a bit of a bummer that the colors in the One Sweep aren't interchangeable though. It's pretty much a one trick pony.
It's funny. One of the local cheaper brands (Canmake) actually came out with the same sort of one-swipe eyeshadows. These were actually marketed to apply with your FINGER!! Surprisingly, it seemed to work out well. At least when swatched on my hand, anyways. I didn't actually buy it.
ReplyDeleteI have the foundation! Its already out in Europe. I picked it up while I was in France and its my Holy Grail foundation right now. It feels like a powder. Nothing like Maybelline Dream Mousse. Its more creamy in texture but still whipped. Kinda like whipped cream. It sets nice and matte and really does leave my skin even and airbrushed looking. Love it! So happy they brought it here. It goes my Matte Morphose Mousse Foundation in Europe. I use it with the Sigma Round Top Kabuki long handled brush and its the perfect combination!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure that with The One Sweep Eye Shadow, L'Oreal is going for a time-saving option for achieving the three-shade professional eyeshadow look, and is not being condescending to its customers by implying they can't apply eyeshadow. It would be interesting to use a brush or smaller sponge applicator and blend the colors together like the mosaic or strips e/s and see what you end up with! Cover Girl and Maybelline have done one-step eyeshadows before, but long ago and I doubt if anyone here would remember them. Maybelline's had a shimmer shift-type effect that was supposed to serve as lid color and highlighter and it was great! The CG one didn't stay on the market too long though. I want to know what the quality, pigmentation, texture is before I try though.

I really like the Magic Souffle. It goes on velvety smooth and provides a very nice coverage. Typically, I have used powder foundation, but I really like this product, which a one-step process for me. A little bit goes a long way.
