Review: New Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss

This is hands-down my new favorite lip gloss.

OK, sorry, I just had to get that out of the way! I am seriously loooving this product and I can't remember being so excited about a gloss in a good long while (as many of you know, I'm more of a lipstick girl). This is one of the products that was sent to me for review by the folks at Markwins (makers of Wet n Wild, Black Radiance and lots of other affordable beauty brands) a while back, and I almost feel like a jerk for keeping it to myself for so long. I need to spread the love about this one because it's just too good to keep it a secret!

Black Radiance Ice Angel Refreshing Lip Gloss in Scarlet (retail: $2.99)

Before I get into why I am obsessed with this gloss, I want to tell you that if you don't have access to Black Radiance products in your area (Black Radiance is sold at my local Rite Aid) I have discovered that you can get the entire Ice Angel collection at Walgreens.com, and I am VERY impressed that Walgreens has real photos on their site of every single shade in the collection. So if Scarlet doesn't do it for you, there are other gorgeous shades to choose from (check 'em out here).

OK, so right away I want to tell you that the color of Scarlet is not 100% accurate in the images above. It's actually more of a blue-based red instead of an orange-based red as it appears here. And it's also got the most beautiful super-fine gold and pink shimmers running through it. In person, it's a dramatic show-stopper of a color. From the moment I put it on, I feel like a Vargas Girl!

So what sets this gloss apart from so many other drugstore glosses on the market? That's easy:
  • It's insanely pigmented (almost like a liquid lipstick)
  • It has a small, precise brush for perfect application
  • It doesn't settle into fine lines
  • It's not sticky, goopy or heavy-feeling on the lips
  • It's moisturizing
  • It's got great staying power
And my very favorite thing about it?
  • It wears down evenly and leaves a beautiful stain behind!
I was in serious shock the first time I wore Scarlet. After about four hours, I looked in the mirror only to discover that I had a beautiful I-just-ate-a-bowl-of-cherries stain to my lips after this gloss had worn off. This gloss is like the gift that keeps on giving!

I literally cannot find one thing wrong with this product, except for maybe the fact that there isn't a nude or pinky-brown shade currently available. But really, I love it so much, I don't mind.

So tell me, have you tried one of these new Ice Angel glosses yet? If so, what's your favorite shade? And if not, do you plan to pick one up? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

  1. I love Black Radiance lip gloss because it is like liquid lip stick. I have to go to a Walgreen's or Rite Aid in a predominantly African-American neighborhood to find Black Radiance products. Just a head's up.
