The Lipstick League Question of the Week
Which fragrance have you been wearing the most this winter? (If you don’t wear fragrance, tell us about the body lotion or body wash you’ve been using the most this winter.)
G's answer: I have been wearing the heck out of Queen by Queen Latifah this winter (the original, not Queen of Hearts), and although it's a discontinued fragrance, it's still relatively easy to find and pretty inexpensive on Amazon and eBay. I cannot get enough of this fragrance right now (see Fragrantica listing here for notes, etc.). It's a dark, boozy, woody, smoky, vanilla, yet it's not severe in its darkness. In other words, if the words "boozy, dark, and smoky" generally scare you off, this is a more friendly or "lite" version of those elements, if that makes sense. To me, it smells like a grown-up vanilla. It's rich, sultry, and a bit mysterious. And it's the closest thing I've found to date that resembles my beloved and long-ago discontinued Kors Michael Kors (they both share that wonderful cognac note).

EauMG is Currently Craving: Smooth, radiant skin. My dull, wintery, stressed-out skin is craving this blend of effective acids and antioxidants in Drunk Elephant T.L.C. Sukari Babyfacial.
As usual this winter I have been wearing the heck out of Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint. The refreshing minty, sweet and there is something else I have always detected but can't place. It is everything to me in the winter. I will put it aside soon for something floral but will occasionally bring it out when it gets really humid in the summer, it feels cooling. By the by, I would wear the heck out of Dior Blooming Bouquet if I could afford it. Anyone know of a dupe?
ReplyDeleteI've been wearing my current favorite scent, Alien (I don't currently remember who makes it) and I've been getting compliments on it all the time! I just love it! At home I've been wearing Blushed Amber by bath and body works (trying to work through my stash!) and I've been enjoying it as well. And thanks to you G, I think I'll pick Queen up since it is cheap on eBay and sounds great! I love when your recommend scents because you go off the beaten path. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks to G, I purchased Ahavas white peach and pineapple lotion. It was 1/2 price on bell.com. OMG!!! It reminds me of Escada fruity sweet fragrances and it's very moisturizing with great staying power.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you, G. Let's keep your blog just the way it is. It's perfect. Your service here on your blog is better than any other I've used. If it ain't broke...no need to fix it.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your fabulous blog. :)

Chanel l'eau no.5!!!
ReplyDeleteI have fallen in love with Stash by SJP. My goodness it almost a dupe for Black Orchid by Tom Ford. I ran out of the sample of the TF and panicked because I knew I wasn't going to buy a full bottle and then I found Stash. I don't know what the notes are but they are very similar. I mean the scent does not wash out of my clothes or completely off my skin which I love if that makes sense. I smell it on my sheets, towels, etc. I use the body oil and then layer it with the parfum. I receive so many compliments when I wear it. So this is my new favorite and will buy again.
ReplyDeleteI've been experimenting more with perfumes lately. I don't really like sweet perfumes (no fruit or caramel for me in general, thanks) but I've been looking at more bourbon or vanilla-laced scents, or sniffing around ouds or bold florals. One surprise I like is Tom Ford's Orchid Soleil, as well as Fracas or anything white-blooming florals. Though one sweet scent I do like, dug out in anticipation of Valentine's Day, is TokyoMilk's Honey & The Moon (No. 10). I like that blend a lot, and it's a good nongreasy hand cream.
ReplyDeleteI received the Tory Burch Love Relentlessly perfume in my Sephora Play! box and oh. my. goodness. It was love at first smell :) I don't tend to wear a lot of perfume, because it can be a migraine trigger for me, but this one isn't too intense. My usual scent is the eucalyptus spearmint stress relief lotion from BBW.
ReplyDeleteIssey Mikaye L'Eau D'Issey has been on repeat. I'm not big on fragrance, but I can't get enough of this one. It's the only perfume I've bought in over 2 years.
ReplyDeleteOpium. I've been wearing it for years. Mostly in the Winter
