Play! by Sephora Beauty Box Subscription Update

For those of you who have been trying unsuccessfully to subscribe to Play! by Sephora (their beauty box subscription service), I have potential good news for you!

I receive an email today from Sephora letting me know that I'm officially off the waitlist and that I can now subscribe. I have also heard from several of you this week (thank you!!) who tried subscribing with THIS LINK and it worked for all of you. Just enter your email address in the box on that page (even if you have already done it previously) and it SHOULD then take you to a page where you can add the subscription to your cart.  I obviously can't guarantee that it will work for everyone, but it's definitely worth a shot if you've been wanting to subscribe to this service.

Thanks again to everyone who let me know that they were able to subscribe this week. Hopefully this works for everyone now!

    1. Yes Birchbox has been not so great lately. My June box was bad. I have gotten 2 months of Sephora

  13. Thank you G! It worked for me! I originally was put on the wait list, but received an email a few weeks later saying I was off the wait list. By the time I went to sign up, I was put back on the wait list! So frustrating. Looking forward to finally getting some goodies!

  15. I'm guessing that it went through since it is on a second order shipment email. Any idea of when these boxes will be shipped out? *cross fingers*

  16. It just worked for me here in Texas...

  17. Do you know what month we will get if we just subscribed? Will we have to wait until July?

  18. I was able to subscribe in April. I got the May's box. It seems like a good deal because you get 5 samples for 10.00. Each sample is basically a 100 point perk and that would cost you 10.00 each ( spent in store). Am I right on that?

    1. 100 points equals $100! They give one point for one dollar spent. So, in my mind, I like the value of the box, because I enjoy playing and sampling new things.

    2. I may be incorrect, but I think one 100 point perk would cost you $100 in store! I think it's 1 point/dollar spent.

I was able to subscribe in April and received the May bag. I wasn't super impressed. I just received the June bag and it's ok. June's theme was minimal makeup, so I'll stick with it for now and see what July brings. I'm unsubscribing to Birchbox after July.

    3. Wow. It takes 100.00 to get 1 measly sample? That kinda sucks. I usually wait for a 500 point box.

  19. Got email on two other emails I had previously tried to waitlist with even though I actually go through couple of months back when the waitlist opened up. I got my second box this month. So far very happy with it. Here's what I got https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2RqrwRNgYGI

  20. I've been getting them from the very beginning and I have to say that most have been disappointing. I was just about to cancel and then this months box arrived. It was the best one yet and I have used every product in the box and own full size versions of some. I may give it one more to see if they can keep it up. If not I'm done.

    1. I wasn't impressed with it either. I was a member for only two months, and canceled yesterday (hopefully I freed up a spot for another reader!). I'm pretty happy with my ipsy boxes.

    2. I cancelled Ipsy about a year ago because too many of the same made in china products. I subscribed to Birchbox and now I'll probably cancel that too. I've only gotten 2 Sephora boxes, but I like them.

  21. Your link worked for me. Thanks.

  22. Yesterday I tried to sign up for Sephora Play using my VIB account. I have been on the waiting list since the very beginning! Anyway...it said that there wasn't any room and I was denied! I then went in with another email address and was able to sign up! What the heck is up with that? I guess they saw me as a new customer and accepted me right away as opposed to my VIB account where they knew they already had me!

  23. I just followed the link 2 mins ago and was able to subscribe. I have been trying to do so two months

  24. I had to use a different email to sign up. My main email is still saying I'm on the wait list. But I tried a different email and got instant access. Just got my second box the other day and honestly, it's nothing to get hyped about. I will allow one more box before I cancel. Oh and BTW, the card that allows you to get 50 extra points for a purchase doesn't work in the JCP Sephora, only the standalone stores.

    1. That's weird. I used one of my 50 point cards in a JCP Sephora, and it worked like a charm! I made sure to check that I got credit, too.

    2. That was one of my problems with the box,but i, too was able to redeem the 50 pt card at a jcp store

    3. I also just used a different email in order to sign up. Did you ever try linking your previous beauty insider account with your play subscription? I would like to do this if possible.

  25. I need to figure out how to unsubscribe, the box isn't a good value for me.

    1. I just unsubscribed yesterday. They make you call them! It's kind of an obnoxious way to go about it, but it was really simple, and only took two minutes to do.

  26. I've gotten two boxes so far and am not crazy about Play. I think there are better boxes out there.

  27. It worked for me yesterday. I'm supposed to cancel a subscription instead I've picked up a new one. I really am going too strongly consider (and possibly follow thru) ending one...really cuz I can quit anytime I want.

  28. I got an email a few weeks ago saying that I was off the wait list, but by the time I saw it (about 6 hours later), there weren't any spots available again. I think I'm going to give up. If they tell you you're off the wait list after MONTHS of waiting, they could at least hold a spot for you for a few hours. Not everyone can check email all day long.

    1. The same thing happened to me, I received an e-mail saying I was off of the wait list but when I went to sign up it said there were no spots available and this was within a couple of hours!! I absolutely agree, I feel they should hold a spot for 24 hours.

  30. I just got it! This thing seems to be SO random. I have tried various emails and links for months and it's never worked for me. Today, I did a search on the website for play by Sephora (not using the app) and it worked only for the email that wasn't previously registered with Sephora (but one I HAD previously supposedly added to their "wait list"). I'm happy to have gotten it finally, but sad I can't link it to my already-existent account for points earning purposes and convenience of ordering other items. Oh well! Has anyone in this situation tried to link their subscription up later to their previous Sephora account?

    1. I was told by Sephora when I called NOT to subscribe to Play with another account because it goes against their terms & conditions about having two accounts. The subscription wouldn't work for me with my regular email linked to Sephora but worked with a secondary one like you, but I didn't bother subscribing. I just don't understand why it's happening and the rep didn't have any answers.

  31. Woo hoo! I'm in! Thanks so much, G.

  32. I was able to subscribe through your link. I'm just wondering though, does that mean I'm going to get the June box? Or does the subscription start next month?

    1. I just wanted to add that I clicked through your link between 8-9am ET and I was able to subscribe. Less than 5 hours later, I got an email telling me I was off the wait list so I guess a lot of spots opened up over the last few days and I was really supposed to get mine today. Thank you for posting this though. Because if I has waited until I got the email, it's possible that I would not have been able to subscribe (since it already failed me before.)

  33. I really love the Allure Beauty Box. I can't really tell whether this would be better though.

  34. Thank you so much! I was able to subscribe for myself AND my daughter-in-law. I followed your link! I have been trying to get this box for a year!!!!! So sad not getting June's though - I really really really want that Back light primer!!!
