This week's Lipstick League pic is a bit different, in honor of Easter (and Happy Easter by the way, if you celebrate!). This mani is by my pal and frequent Nouveau Cheap contributor Abbi (@curlycomedynailart on Instagram) who in addition to being a fellow polish fanatic, is also a professional comedian (she's on the Comedy Central show Broad City, by the way!). I saw the pic above on her Instagram last night and I haven't been able to stop thinking about it. She perfectly captured those foil-wrapped chocolate Easter eggs, didn't she? So simple, yet so brilliant! I'm always down for the easiest nail art possible, and this is one mani that I'll have to store in my memory banks for next Easter. Thanks for the nail-spiration, Abbi!
The Lipstick League Question of the Week
In honor of Easter and springtime in general: do you like pastels when it comes to color cosmetics? If so, tell us a few of your favorites!
G's answer: Aside from pastel nail colors, I honestly can't do pastel color cosmetics. Anything pastel-colored near my face me makes look dead, red, or jaundiced. So sad, because I love pastels (my favorite color of all time is pale, pale pink).

I can't do pastel colours. They make me look awful. That goes for cosmetics, nail colours and clothing. Most of the time it doesn't bother me because there are lots of choices, but every so often I see a gorgeous colour that I know would look horrible on me.
ReplyDeleteI love that manicure, and love Broad City.
ReplyDeleteAs for pastels, I love them for nails, but on the face they tend to wash me out. I did find some shimmery pastel-ish eyeshadows at MBA Cosmetics on Etsy, though, and those aren't bad for accent colors, etc.
Thanks Heidi!
DeleteAw yeah! Thank you for this most splendid shout-out! I always think pastel pink lips will make me look like Diana Ross in the Supremes, but it ends up feeling like powdered sugar donut mouth. I want to try that baby blue eye liner trend from last summer. I think I could rock that. And pastels on my nayos 4 lyfe.
ReplyDeleteHey Abbi! I see you comment on here all the time and had no idea you were on Broad City. That is too cool!! This manicure is so cute. Thanks for the great idea and like G said I'll have to remember it for next year. :)
DeletePowdered sugar donut mouth. There is no better description for that.
DeletePastel colors in clothing, yes. In makeup? NO...I'm blonde and it just washes me out.
ReplyDeleteNails only. Right now I'm wearing Pinky Promise( or could be Pinky Swear) Sally Hansen no light gel on nails and Zoya Neely( mintish green) on toes. My most favorite pastel color ever( for my toes) is Essie St. Lucia Lilac.
ReplyDeleteI do like some pastels on my eyes. Light blue eye liner next to a dark blue or black. Also some pale glosses work on my lips. I have to pair them with something bold. I do wear some pastel outfits and nails I love all the pastels!
ReplyDeletePastels unfortunately wash me out. I look much better in medium or dark colors, especially if they're warm.
ReplyDeleteI love Broad city, and that easter nail look is so damn good.
ReplyDeleteI can do some pastels since I have very fair skin. This is the only season I usually go for pastels, though.
