The Lipstick League - Week of 1.18.16

The Lipstick League Question of the Week

What are your feelings about the current sheet mask craze? Have you ever tried one? If so, do you prefer them to traditional facial masks?

G's answer: Given the easy access and affordability of sheet masks these days, it's a bit surprising to think that I haven't actually reviewed any sheet masks here on the blog yet. But that's only because I've been quietly using/testing sheet masks behind the scenes so that when I finally do bring you a review, I'll have some actual first-hand knowledge and basis for comparison. That said, I like them quite a bit due their easy of use and lack of mess, but I'm not sure they'll entirely replace my traditional masks. In short, I like both!

    1. Do you mean drugstore sheet masks, or traditional masks?

Also, no, I didn't end up getting that Tony Moly deal...YET! But that's only because I have a few sheet masks I'm testing for review right now and I need to get through those first. And thank you for pointing out the wrong year in the title! Fixing that now. xo

    1. I hate that cold too! I always sit on the couch then slide my packaged mask under my upper leg to warm it before I use it. *grin*

  3. I have around 600 sheet masks, I'm an addict and use them once or twice a day. They've made a huge difference in my skin, But i mostly order from Korean sites because paying the marked up U.S. prices kills me.

  4. I don't really like the sheet masks. I just find I need to sit/lay quietly to keep them on properly and that just never happen. I like a traditional mask and if it is a peelie one so much the better!!!!

  5. I prefer cream face masks. Sheets never seem to stay on my face.

  6. I have just tried a couple sheet masks. They're OK. They don't quite peel as nicely as I'd like and don't fit exactly over my eyes so I feel a bit bummed to tear the eyeholes a bit, etc., for better visibility so I can lay back and read or whatever. I like them, but I also like the old-school masks, too. It just depends on my mood.
I was reading in Allure (online, anyways, I think it was Allure) about DIY face masks, where you can mix glycerin and other ingredients (an oil like jojoba and a couple drops of essential oil and make your own by soaking them in gauze or something like that.) I plan to try that out.

  7. I don't ever buy masks, and the sheet mask craze isn't persuading me. I got one in a recent Glossybox and it was cold, slimy, and ill-fitting. However, they do seem like the perfect thing for freaking out your significant other and/or pets.
