From wwd.com:
"...The color cosmetics segment of the treatment-oriented Nuance Salma Hayek brand is being replaced by 37 new stockkeeping units, which are due to be rolled out to a distribution of nearly 5,000 doors by March.
The improved cosmetics dimension is expected to elevate the whole brand and give CVS new leverage in its competition with other retail chains that are brandishing their own exclusives.
Hayek’s love of ingredients was on full display during a recent product preview in which she described each item not only in terms of benefits but with an eye firmly on the nuts and bolts."

"...Take the lipstick, for instance. It contains green tea and mint designed to boost the circulation and therefore pumps the blood, she pointed out. With help from fillers, there are fewer lines in the lips, Hayek maintains. “We have many other ingredients that not only are pumping but that are actually moisturizing the lips like a very strong lip treatment, much more than a lip balm,” she asserted. “It’s not just emollients; it’s actually a mask for the lips, like a treatment.”
"...In addition to the lipstick, the caring quotient extends to concealers, “and even the eye shadows. Sometimes we don’t think so much about that part of the skin but [the product] still has chamomile and argan oil. The concealers for under the eyes have vitamin A, vitamin B, vitamin C, they have ginger and green tea. I have a special technique that covers the dark circles. It’s not just the color. There is a special technique.”

"...Hayek’s improved color line will be repackaged as well as reformulated. The 37 new skus — the original foundation has been retained in the line — include eye shadows, a cream concealer, moisturizing lipstick, brow pencil, cream illuminators and shadow sticks."
"...The eye shadows contain argan oil and a blend of silicone-infused mineral pigments designed to make them glide on the skin smoothly and blend. The brow pencil features a formula containing chamomile and phytosterol ester to also ease application. The cream illuminator duo has gardenia and tepezcohuite to tone and condition skin and reduce inflammation.
Prices range from $10.99 to $14.99, or as Hayek said, “There is nothing in the line that is above $20."Read the full article HERE.
Thoughts about these upcoming products? Just to be clear, this overhaul applies to the color cosmetics in the Nuance line (not skincare or haircare). Are you excited to see the new cosmetics in-store? Are you already a fan of Nuance cosmetics? I'd love to hear from you!
I'd never seen these before (I wasn't much of a CVS shopper, I thought their markup on cosmetics was a little shady) but I'm going to be excited to try these. Ingredients like these are a godsend for sensitive skin types..I can't wait to try them!
ReplyDeleteI am interested in that eyeshadow palette, the shadow sticks and the cream illuminator. I have the Laura Mercier caviar sticks so I wonder if the shadow sticks are similar (or at least better then Neutrogena's version). I am also looking for a cream illuminator and I'd rather start here than Becca or Kevyn Aucoin. I am hoping that the shadow palette is good. Mint oil is not especially good for sensitive skin like mine so I may pass on the lipsticks.
ReplyDeleteHer stuff never interested me except for her nail polish, but that concealer sounds really interesting.. I know one of my favorite youtubers really liked her dry shampoo. Wonder if they are going to bring back the hair stuff too.
ReplyDeleteI really like the hair care line and I've heard good things about the skincare. But the color line had mediocre reviews so I'll be interested to hear if it's been improved.
ReplyDeleteI was lucky enough to get some of the powder foundation from this line at 50% a few weeks ago. I do hope they keep that as part of the overhauled line because it is great! Wonderful coverage and beautiful finish.
ReplyDelete...'lip pumping ingredients...' ? Umm, is that a typo there or not wwd? :)
ReplyDeleteI've never actually tried any of the line but the new lipsticks kinda do sound interesting, either way lol
Line looked boring to me before, doubt I would try it now,
ReplyDeleteNot sure what CVS there is that is so elevated. The ones near here are so poorly stocked I can't imagine they are part of the same chain.
but there must be a market out there for this line
Try their Skin + Pharmacy line and also their store brand versions of other skincare. Their ROC dupes are quite nice, but the Skin + Pharmacy line (acne and anti-aging) are pretty nice. If your local CVS is not well stocked (mine sometimes runs out of the good stuff too quickly), the website is nice and usually you can get codes for at least 25% off of total purchases.
DeleteI am sooo excited about this!! The hair and skin care line are great but the cosmetics line did neec some improvement. I hope they improve the foundation color selection.
ReplyDeleteI'll wait for reviews and actually I wonder how long it will be before any stores in my area receive the products (Midwest small town). I had to return the few items I tried in the original line. Her body products are good, though, especially the rose hip lotion.
ReplyDeleteInteresting. I only own a blush from this brand and no complaints only that was a bit on the pricey side and I purchased when I wasn't as versed on drugstore makeup so I just wanted to try.
ReplyDeleteI don't recall her makeup having the best reviews...in fact some were a bit of a flop but so are many of the "celebrity" makeup line.
I never really got anything else and I wonder if I still have the blush.
If I do, I'll put it in my makeup routine and give it refresher try.
I haven't tried any of her makeup products however her skincare line is excellent. The cleansing oil & makeup remover are amazing especially at $9.99 & $7.99 you can't go wrong plus there's always sales I've been using these for a couple of years now LOVE LOVE.
ReplyDeleteThe cleansing oil really is fantastic! Never ever made my skin break out, and works well by its self or as part of a 2 step cleansing.
DeleteI agree on the cleansing oil. I keep going back to this one. I even like it better than the Neutrogena.
DeleteI love the cleansing oil!!
DeleteI haven't found it in months and don't see it on their sight.
Delete:-(
I'm curious about the dark circles technique she mentions. Bring it on. I've never tried the cosmetics except for one of the lipsticks which I liked. I'm currently using the dark spot corrector which I hope stays around if I find it works!
ReplyDeleteI tried the mineral powder foundation and returned it to cvs because I felt the coverage was nonexistent so then i decided to use it as a setting powder but it did not do anything. I returned the foundation because it made my skin so oily and the colors do not make sense.
ReplyDeleteI was hoping that this line would improve their liquid foundation. It sounded great but it made my skin soooo oily and the colors did not make sense. I tried the mineral foundation but the coverage is nonexistent and the first ingredients is talc so I am not sure how that qualifies for a foundation so I used it as a setting powder but it didn't do that well either. The skincare and hair line are good. The makeup is geared towards people with dry skin.
ReplyDeleteI really liked her concealer duo so Im excited to try the new stuff! I try to save my cvs extra bucks for her stuff since it's a little more pricey :)
ReplyDeleteI love the Nuance line! I've used several skincare, makeup and hair care. The hair masks are wonderful, as is the cream/gel curl styling product. My favorite is the Cucumber & Rosewater Dual Phase Makeup Remover so I hope it comes back. It was better than Lancome's. I get great deals on the Nuance line with coupons/CVS Extra Bucks. They do go on sale several times throughout the year. There's a new website (instead of just on the CVS site): www.nuancesalmahayek.com
