Spotted: NEW Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Foundation SPF 50

Physicians Formula Mineral Wear Cushion Foundation SPF 50

PLEASE NOTE: I have posted about lots of other new releases from Physicians Formula recently, so be sure to click HERE to check out my Physicians Formula tag to get caught up (if you missed those other posts). There are so many new PF products hitting stores right now I can barely keep track of them!

Another new drugstore cushion compact (in addition to the L'Oreal one)! And, um, how cute is this packaging??? If you were excited to see that PF has come out with a Cushion Eyeliner, I'm guessing you're going to be happy about this one too.

Many thanks to reader Joy (@blackandwhitepolkadots28 on Instagram) for this one. Joy spotted this display at her local Fred Meyer this week and was nice enough to share some pics with us.

As you can see, this foundation retails for $16.99. That's a dollar or two higher than other PF foundations, but there's a $9 rebate sticker on the box, and you KNOW that PF goes on sale all the time at the drugstores (often BOGOFREE or 40% off). So no need to panic about that price tag.

Joy also mentioned that there are only three shades in this range: Light, Light-Medium, and Medium. Not surprising, since PF isn't know for the wide-ranging shade options (if you can't find a shade for you here, you may want to look to the new L'Oreal cushion compact, since there are 12 shades in that range).

I just cannot get over how adorable the packaging is for this one, and I LOVE that it has SPF 50--I can't wait to get my hands on it (and review it for you). Thoughts?

Thanks again, Joy, for ALL of the great PF sightings and pics this week. I truly appreciate it!

  1. Man, that packaging is adorable! But sadly every PF liquid foundation I've ever tried has been way too dark on me. =/

    2. I'd love to say that this might be different, but they seem pretty consistent with their shades. Still keeping my fingers crossed for you though!

  2. How cute!! Has anyone tried it out yet??

  3. Actually my thought is about the rebate you mentioned. Have you ever succeeded with one of their rebates? I've tried 2 or 3 times and never succeeded with them. They always send a reject note that I missed something, but since I keep copies of everything I submit with a rebate I had proof that I submitted all of it. They've never honored the rebate any time I tried.

    1. Huh. Missed something like what?
I got a couple of them to work back when they first came out with the Eye Booster pen liners but that was the last time I tried.
My bigger beef is that some stores remove the $ off sticky coupons from the packages, either that or customers do, which is pretty lame IMO. I tend to think the store does when I see a whole wall of PF, new or old, and not one coupon in the bunch, yet you can see where they obviously were at one point.

    2. I have only submitted a rebate for them one time, and I had no problem.

    3. Yeah, I've never had an issue with them either (done multiple PF rebates over the years).

    4. Steffy, a LOT of times it's customers. Either taking them all to sell or to use them at their leisure. I've worked retail in the cosmetic dept, and there were days the vendors put the stickers on and in 20 they were all gone. It's usually not the store, since employees can just ask for one directly from the vendor. People are greedy turds, sometimes. Lol

  4. The packaging is adorable! I just wish PF formulas came in a shade light enough for me....

    1. 2nd this like I said above. Really wish PF wasn't so limited shade-wise! I can wear a few of their powders and thats about it. Still bummed they dc'd the SPF 50 powder fdn, the cute orange one w/the pink applicator. That stuff was perfect *sigh*

    2. Steffy, the PF Healthy Wear Powder Foundation in the orange compact was my HG of all time! It is STILL the gold standard to which I hold all other powder foundations, and nothing--not MAC Studio Fix, Clinique, NYX, etc can ever hold a candle to it. I will forever hold a slight grudge against PF for discontinuing it. Why, PF? WHY??? Lol.

    3. Omg I know right!? I still have my one backup that I'm afraid to use up lol! I have been getting by with the Celebration powder fnd by IT Cosmetics but its a bit heavier than the PF was, nothing really comes close you are so right *sigh* and that one had light enough shades too! Whyyyyyy!?!?

    4. Thanks, Steffy, for the tip about the IT Cosmetics powder foundation. I think I will have to give that one a try, because right now I'm using the Clinique Beyond Perfecting Powder Foundation + Concealer and while I do like the coverage (you can build and it will cover old acne scars, etc.), I had someone tell me my skin looked really dry after I was wearing it for a few hours. It has a lot of slip to it (silica + dimethicone) and that might be causing it to settle in my fine lines? It seems like that would smooth fine lines, I know, but I think it's doing the reverse to me. I thought it looked good, but when my boyfriend also said I looked dry, it was like, "Well, back to the drawing board!" Lol. The good thing about the Clinique is that the staying power is AMAZING. Even better than the PF. I can put it on in the morning and by early evening it is still hanging on. Anyway, sorry for rambling but gosh I miss that PF so much. I too have a back-up that I'm afraid to use. I just can't come to terms with it being gone forever. We should start a petition to bring it back. lol! :)

  6. Wow I'm so excited to see this product! PF's SPF 50 in the orange compact was my favourite but they stopped carrying it in store. So happy to see another SPF 50 foundation :D

    1. That was my HG powder foundation of all time (see my comments above). I'm still mad at PF for discontinuing it! :(

  7. However if I remember correctly PF often does a buy one get one free right after the new year.

  8. The orange compact they had was the best I ever found. The price is steep for this but if I caught a sale and everyone said it was good, then I'd buy it.

  9. The packaging is ADORABLE. I honestly might just get it because of that. Darn you aesthetics!!!

  10. Thanks to you I tried the orange fdn and ended up buying 2 of them from big Lots 2 yrs ago. It was the best. I agree that pf fdn is dark for me too.

    1. Yes!! I'm am seriously still mad at PF for discontinuing it. I just don't get it. I mean, they've launched so many powders since then, and every time I keep hoping that it's the Healthy Wear powder foundation formula in new packaging but NOPE. Why, PF? WHY!?!?!

  11. Yay rebates! I got some really good deals with $10 rebates earlier this year. I have a feeling that the light will be too dark, but I think I'm still going to try it. I'll wait for buy one get one or a $10 reward at Riteaid.

  12. I bought a LOT (seriously, like 6 or 7) of the Healthy Wear cause of the positive reviews. It broke me out like crazy! Nothing ever really breaks me out, but that was bad. I think maybe it was the added SPF? I just donated them all, along with a TON of makeup to the local homeless shelter. ( I stopped weighing it once the bag hit 7.5 lbs)!

  13. I will probably try it for the pkging myself. If the product doesn't work out u still have a cute compact. I only wish I had money like that to throw around. I would wear it one way or another.

  14. Yes, anything in the orange and pink packaging was just amazing! The PF... amazing! TheTM... Amazing!! The Bronzer... Amazing!!! all w/ 50 spf. WTH!? Why discontinue these products? If I see an orange and pink package my heart jumps a little. I started with the tinted moisturizer, it was so good (albeit a tad oily, but it honestly Moisturized!), I tried the others. It was a wonderful line in Physician's Formula. I was horrified to lose it. I would gladly sign a petition to bring the line back.

This cushion compact looks lovely, It really just comes down to the colors, PF is so limited in color range. 0.02... x

  15. Found this at a CVS near Disneyland of all places. I have yet to test it, but it seems promising, even if the packaging is kinda bulky.
Mine came with an instant $4 rebate instead of the $9 mail-in one.

  17. Alright guys, I bought it (not on sale)(in Light-Medium) from my local CVS as well as the L'Oreal Lumi Cushion (W5) and have tried them both!!!!! :) here are my thoughts. I like the Physicians Formula so much better! I use Fake Bake Flawless Darker every 7 days (If that gives you a color reference). The L'Oreal one didn't have enough coverage for me the same way that True Match Lumi doesn't. I have acne scaring and need a little more coverage. I usually mix my True Match with another foundation (Colorstay, 3-in-1, etc). The Physicians Formula covers up my acne scars and hasn't gotten cakey on me yet. I used my duo fiber foundation brush not the little pad for both of them. It's definitely worth giving it a go!
