I Can't Be the Only One Thinking This...

Am I the only one who's "shopping my stash" and just using the L'Oreal La Palette Nudes 1 & 2 to satisfy my urge for the new Lancome Auda[city] in Paris palette? Considering that L'Oreal owns Lancome, this is a no-brainer for beauty fanatics on a budget, right? There may not be dupes for every single shade in the Lancome palette here, but there are shimmers and mattes in the L'Oreal palettes that very closely resemble shades in the Lancome palette. And you know what? That's good enough for me!

Photos of the L'Oreal palettes are from my original review HERE (which includes comparisons to Urban Decay Naked 1 & 3, in case you missed that review). Photo of the Lancome palette is from the Lancome website.

  2. I'm curious to see whether the quality of the L'Oreal palettes above is equal to the Lancome one. If so, then I will definitely switch to the cheaper brand! Can you give us an update as to the quality comparison?

    1. Sorry, but I won't be purchasing the Lancome since I own the L'Oreal palettes. :) Temptalia has a review of the Lancome palette on her blog though...I think she gave it a C+.

    2. The Loreal palettes are really nice, way better than their previous formulas. I can only base my Lancome experience on a GWP palette but it wasn't mindblowing.. decent.

    3. Coincidentally Tarababyz just posted a review of the Lancome if you want to see swatches etc to compare. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbkWw0Esq7M

  3. G....Doesn't Lancome own Loreal? If so then I totally get it!

  4. Where are the L'oreal palettes only $15 each? I really want #2 but am having a hard time with the $20 price at most retailers.

    1. Target and Walmart. Also, if you wait for an Extra Bucks deal at CVS you can get it for around $15 as well (or less). :)

    2. Watch the weekly sales, Loreal goes 40% off pretty often.

    3. Huh, they're $20 at my Target. I'll just have to keep looking for a sale. 40% off would be great!

    4. I bought mine when L'Oreal was 40% off at RiteAid.

  5. It looks like the Lancome palette is also smaller than the two L'oreal ones?
Seems like you get more bang for your buck going with the L'oreal.

  6. I actually thought of the La Palette Nude 2 when I saw that Lancome palette the first time.

  7. I was thinking the Lancome looked familiar, now I know why!

  8. UD really started something with the rectangular design of the Naked palettes. I guess it's the beauty of simplicity. I don't have the L'Oreal or the Lancome palettes, but I would be curious to see how much difference there really is in the quality. I've never been impressed with L'Oreal pressed shadows, but I've liked the few I tried from Lancome. It's been years since I tried either though.

  9. I was thinking they were similar too, but when I see upclose shots of the Lancome palette, it looks to be much richer and prettier than the L'Oreal 1 & 2, both of which I own ($10.25 each using sales/coupons) and kind of regret because I rarely use them. But then, I rarely use 75% of my palettes, so why am I even eyeing this darned Lancome one? Someone send help. lol

  10. ....aaaaand I took a look-see around the web and discovered some of the photos of this palette are deceptively saturated making it look richer/prettier than it is. The more realistic photos make me realize it isn't all that and I don't *need* it. But please, by all means, still send help! :-D (Isn't replying to yourself the first sign of madness? lol)

  11. There are a lot of colors missing, like the blue, black, peach. Alot of these palettes are similar cause most people need the same basic colors (:

  12. I've never purchased anything from Lancôme purely because of this reason: L'Oreal owns Lancome, Maybelline, Garnier, YSL...why should I pay for the high end version when I can get something similar although probably not as high quality as the more expensive brands? For example whenever Lancome releases new makeup or skincare, I know eventually L'Oreal, Garnier and Maybelline will get the similar cheaper version. Don't believe me? Just read the ingredients and compare.

  13. I have the L'Oreal palette 1 and I am afraid that I have fallen off the wagon and haven't worn e/s at all lately :( so I guess I won't bother with #2. Maybe the autumn will bring a new desire to start up again. I never consider buying high end eyeshadow since one time in Vegas I went to Chanel store and got sucked in by a LE palette and I think I wore a couple of shades exactly once. In my defense I was on vacation and also it is just too pretty to ruin!!!! LOL

  14. Interesting... As if I needed another reason to drool over these lol! Luckily I get 20% at Rite Aid thru their Plenti points program so one day I will finally cave and get them. I hear nothing but raves and it must be true as they always seem to be low on stock if not out entirely. Next time they get more though...those babies are mine:)
