Spotted: NEW Maybelline Colorblur Cream Matte Lip Pencils (Pics and a Swatch)

More new Maybelline lip products! In this post, I'll be showing you the brand new Colorblur Matte Lip Pencils, thanks to two lovely readers who both spotted this display at Walmart this week.

First up, longtime reader Miranda Turner shared these pics of the display:

These pencils contain a twist-up color on one end, and a smudger on the other end.So you can apply these for a more opaque, bold look, or smudge them out for a softer look. I find it interesting that the model is wearing a look that's been quite popular in Japan and Korea for a while now (ombre/gradient lips that are vivid in the center but almost non-existent near the lip line). It's nice to see this trend hitting the mainstream, mass-market US drugstore level.

More pics and info after the jump...

There are ten shades in this range:

5 Pink Insanity, 10 Fast & Fuchsia, 15 Berry Misbehaved, 20 Orange Ya Glad, 25 Cherry Cherry Bang Bang, 30 Partner in Crimson

35 Plum Please, 40 My-My Magenta, 45 I'm Blushing, 50 I Like to Mauve It

Yeah...I'm gonna need 45 I'm Blushing, STAT.

Next up, reader Becky spotted this display at her Walmart too, and gave us a closer look at the smudger, as well as a swatch of one of the shades in this range:

The top swatch above is the Colorblur Cream Matte Lip Pencil in the shade 30 Partner in Crimson (also in this photo, a sneak-peek at the new Colorsensational Creamy Matte Lipstick in Clay Crush--I'll be doing a full post on those right after this post).

Becky said that Colorblur Lip Pencils feel smooth and look even more matte than the Colorsensational Creamy Matte lipsticks, and that Partner in Crimson is super opaque (she described it as "mega opaque"). I'm SOLD! I cannot wait to get my grubby little hands all over these.

Have you spotted the new Colorblur Cream Matte Lip Pencils at your local Walmart (or elsewhere) yet? I'd love to know what you think of these so far!

Thanks so very much, Miranda and Becky, for the great sightings and pics (and swatches)!

  1. Look like the lip version of the Master Smoky pencils.
Just FYI, anyone wanting to try that Korean lip trend I've found the balms stains (jordana, rimmel) are great for it. Just put it in the center of the lips and rub them together a bit.. when you reapply do the same. I've also put on a light layer all over, blotted, then put more in the center for a less extreme transition. The very bright shades are best IMO.. Rimmel makes a fabulous bright orange.

    1. I've found that traditional lip stains (like Benetint or any of the various felt tip markers) work really well for this look too. :)

  2. You're welcome G! I am thinking about going back and picking up 5 because that color is so my kinda color.... I just want to look up more reviews on them before I do. The Cooke range is very beautiful in this line, I hope they add more colors soon ( like a purple)!

  4. I wonder if these are the US version of those velvet matte pencils I've been waiting forever for. Either way, the color selection looks nice and the formula sounds impressive

    1. I don't know at this point if they are similar but I don't think so because those aren't twist ups and they don't come with a smudger?

  7. i wonder how will americans embrace the korean gradient lips! this product reminds me of aritaum's wannabe cushion tint, which also has a sponge tip for smudging out the colour!
