The Wednesday Question

Complete this sentence:  The one makeup item I wish I could forever eliminate from my routine (but can't) is _____.

If I never had to apply concealer again, I would be a very happy woman. Alas, I will never be able to eliminate concealer from my daily routine!

  1. mascara/any other type of lashes. idk why but applying mascara's just a pain for me and i wish i could just have naturally luscious lashes! plus i swim competitively so finding a really really really truly waterproof mascara's not all that easy...

    1. Hey, I'm betting you've probably tried it, but just in case--have you tried CG Lash Blast 24HR mascara? I couldn't get it off! lol

    2. I also swim, and I tried Hard Candy's 4 Day Lash Ink, and it worked realy well for me. It's marketed as a lash stain, so it colors lashes, but it doesn't really lengthen or volumize them. You could keep it on for 4 days, but because I'm concerned about leaving it on overnight ( it has a similar feeling as mascara), I usually remove it after the first day. Overall, I'm fairly pleased with it. I also really wish I could not use concealer. If my blemishes all went away, I would be SO happy. I love your blog!

  2. Sunscreen cause can't do without it but I prefer most facial lotions than the sunscreen texture.

    1. I can agree with the textures of sunscreen, though I found a brand that doesn't leave me oily or break me out. On the plus side, you are preventing potential skin cancer and age spots among many other possibilities. :)

  3. Foundation. I hate how most foundation looks on my skin. I wish I had a peaches and cream complexion.

  4. Doing my brows. Obliterated them in high school and they never grew back the same. It's the most time consuming portion of my routine x.x

  5. eyeliner....I love the way it looks, but hate applying it!

  6. This is a hard one. I'd have to say primer, I wish I didn't have to use it, but my face is so oily all my makeup would melt off without it.

  7. Foundation, cause my skin's bad all over. It gets tiresome.

  8. Eyebrow powder/pencil because I'm just not good at it but I have ridiculously sparse eyebrows so I have to fill and shape them every day.

  9. Eyebrow pencil/powder. It's hard to find a good match, most are too red with a few exceptions & it is one of those items I would rather not bother with.

  10. Concealer for me too. Alas, I have dark undereye circles that are the envy of raccoons everywhere. :-(

  11. Any acne medicated formula.

It took a long time to realize when everyone told me it would go away after puberty, then after high school, then when I became an adult. My only last ditch is possibly after children, but at a quarter of a century old, I'm not holding my breath it will ever go away. Meds of any sort have never worked. Alas.

Thanks for sharing ladies. You're all gorgeous. ♥

    1. I had this problem and still do to some degree at 46!!! I eliminated tomatoes and all citrus fruit for another reason and my skin cleared up dramatically. Try it. I think it's the acid in them. IDK but when I eat these, I break out.

    2. I had it real bad until I was about 27. That's when I threw everything out because I was so fed up with buying stuff that didn't work. Now I just use a fragrance free cleanser (currently CeraVe) and a BHA lotion once or twice a week (currently Paula's Choice since neutrogena quit making my HG 3-n-1 gel). I only get one or two a month, usually hormonal. The rest of the time I use an oil I made myself, equal parts jojoba, evening primrose, and macadamia nut oil. Hope that helps :)

Oh, my face isn't an oil slick anymore either, even though I use oil twice a day :D

    3. Thank you Sherie and KD. I may try the tomatoes thing, though it would be ironic as I use Yesto Tomatoes and my face looks better in the last few months, just not clear. :)

I have also head that certain oils are actually good for skin and acne, so I think that is definitely worth a shot. I know my cuticles love the Jojoba oil and anywhere I touch with them afterwards never breaks out.

Thank you again ladies. It's great to see so much support here. ♥

  12. primer! i often forget but it's such an important step.

  13. Same, concealer is the one thing I feel like I NEED :/

  14. Concealer. I wish I didn't have to wear concealer but my dark under eye circles are scarey.

  15. Concealer....without it everyone would think I got in a bar fight :P

  16. Hopping on the concealer train. Stupid dark circles. I also have super thin skin below my eyebrows - the veins are super visible and it's such a pain.

  17. Redness reducing products. I sleep with a low SPF day cream on my face because even the sunshine through my window in the morning irritates my skin.

  18. Probably eyebrow pencil/powder. It's just annoying trying to get them even. Also mascara. You have to do a whole bunch of coats. And then the darn thing gets all over the place and then I gotta wait until it dries for it wipe it off. I just wish I had perfect eyebrows and beautiful thick lashes that didn't need the extra help.

  19. Concealer. I have some darks sopts on my face and I wish U could only use foundation onky. :-)

  20. I hate applying mascara as the first poster mentioned. I really like how it looks and I need to wear it since it makes a big difference in my appearance, but man, I find it is a big time suck.

  21. great question! I'm definitely Team Concealer. I have one that I adore (Super Blendable by LOreal, per your review)...in fact, it's the first concealer that actually works for me...HOWEVER, it bums me out that I have to rely on it just to look presentable. When I take it off at night, it's like...WHOA what happened to me? LOL

  22. Definately anti-shine lotions/primers and setting spray, not that they're as effective as I need them to be. My face just eats foundations, blush, and even eyeshadows. When I find a priming anti-shine lotion or gel that actually works its only for awhile, then I need to find another brand to try bc my oiliness conquers all. Fyi- when I say that something "works" I only mean that I'm getting 4hrs until I get all like an oil slick, but that's better than w/out product...if I have a bare face after washing, I'm greasy after 20 mins!! I also wish deodorant wasn't necessary, can't we just all have flower, herbal, citrus, scents naturally diffusing from our pits?hahaha! I've actually treid taking chlorophyll capsules as a supplement to fight BO, and I didn't notice a diff, but its supposed to be good for your blood cells too...so at least it does something. Just for the record I shower daily (a lot of times twice a day) and about 4-5 hrs after I'm a bit ripe in the underarms. :/

  23. Concealer! Me, too. I have sun damage on each cheek, just under my eyes where there are 3 or 4 of these little brownish spots that drive me crazy. They are so hard to cover. I have to use 2 or 3 layers of concealer to completely cover them. I often use 2 or 3 different concealers when I'm doing it. I'm still experimenting, trying to get the best combination of products. I have at least 8 concealers is my arsenal. The 2 best ones so far are the smashnox photo ready in the little tube and the L'Oreal perfect match in the fat pencil stick. The one in the tube from Physician's Formula covers well but it's to thick and dries too fast for this area. If I don't get it right, it accentuates my baby crow's feet that are beginning to show up.

  24. Sunscreen. I finally found one that doesn't make me break out, but it gives my skin a pale cast to it, like I'm sick. I don't really wear makeup beyond some mascara or lip stuff every now and again, so I can't cover it up either.

    1. On the off chance, is it the new Yesto sunscreen? I noticed I don't break out with it, but dang I look like a ghost! It's almost like it doesn't want to fully absorb.

  25. Concealer. I would love to just be able to wash and go, but dark spots and old acne scars keep me reaching for cover.

  26. not sure if it counts, but i would say an eyelash curler.
i actually have nice, long lashes, but they are stick-straight and point straight down. oftentimes, people think im tired or upset because of how they make my eyes look. most days, i cant be bothered with the curling/mascara routine, so i just dont bother. but whenever i DO go through the routine, i always love the results!
if only my lashes curled naturally. :)

    1. Omg, totally!!! I didn't even think of that. I simply just cannot go w/out using a curler before mascara. Mascra does nothing at all for me unless I use a curler. I feel like I look like a serial killer if I don't, what a difference it makes, LOL!

  27. I never ever go with out my brows done, even when I run and even when I run in the dark! But mine are blonde, and heredity tells me that is why they are getting thinner and thinner, my grandmother had none by the time she was in her 70's. I wish I never had to do them again. Even if my hairdresser would agree to dye them I would have to fill in!

  28. Concealer...dark under eye circles and a birthmark. I envy those that can just swipe on a tinted moisturizer and call it good.

  29. Ugh, concealer. I don't wear foundation and the only reason I wear concealer is because I'd look weird wearing makeup with dark circles and pimples on my face. Otherwise, I'd happily do away with it and just wear color cosmetics by themselves.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Foundation, it looks so nice but it's a mission to make it perfect.

  31. To everyone that hates doing their brows, I had sparse, over plucked brows until I got them semi permanently tattooed on. They aren't one big stripe but lots of little "hairs" so they look really natural.
