Dupe Alert: Comptoir Sud Pacifique Lait Sucré

Purchased by Me

Recently, one of my best girlfriends (who is way more into bath and body products than even I am, if you can believe that) asked me if I wanted to go in on a order she was placing at an indie etailer named Earthen Treasures. Never one to resist going half-sies on an order (splitting shipping is awesome!), I took a look at their extensive fragrance list and couldn't believe the large "Designer Type" section.

I actually ordered several scents that are dupes of fragrances that I already own, thinking that I could compare and contrast them here for you in the future. But today, I'd like to show you my favorite of the fragrances I ordered, and you won't believe the price. Seriously, you won't believe it.

Comptoir Sud Pacifique Lait Sucré Eau de Toilette
(retail: $85, 3.3 oz - now discontinued)
Earthen Treasures Lait Sucré Type body Mist
(retail: $2.25, 8 ml)

Comptoir Sud Pacifique Lait Sucré is my all-time favorite CSP scent. Sadly, this fragrance was discontinued a few years back (those of you familiar with CSP scents will know that the bottle above is their old-style packaging). I think that CSP Vanille Abricot is probably the most popular and well-known of all the CSP scents and it's a lovely fragrance to be sure, but there's something about Lait Sucré that gives it a very special place in my heart.

If you've never smelled CSP Lait Sucré, it smells exactly like its English translation: milk sugar. Some people have said that they get a buttered popcorn note from this fragrance, and I definitely can see that, but to me it smells like sweet cream that you've melted butter into--imagine what it smells like when you're stirring butter into a pot of sweetened milk, and you've got CVS Lait Sucré.  So if you were a  fan of Lait Sucré and you thought you could never get your hands on it again, I'm here to tell you that you can get a version of this fragrance for just a fraction of the (former) retail price and, to my nose, it's nearly an exact dupe. Intrigued? Keep reading...

This is a small spray bottle, but it holds more than enough fragrance to be able to determine whether or not you like the scent and want to purchase a larger bottle (or purchase it in perfume form, body lotion, etc., which are all available on the Earthen Treasures website). I have used the bottle above ten times so far and I'm not even close to being halfway through the bottle yet.

Back to the fragrance: I sprayed a bit of this on my left wrist, and then the real thing on my right wrist. I'm telling you, I could barely the difference after the Earthen Treasures version had dried down (takes about five minutes). And what's even better? The Earthen Treasures version has far better staying power than the original (which was always the one issue I had with the original--it's gone in about 30 minutes on my skin). One spritz on my wrists and Lait Sucré Type body mist from Earthen Treasures lasts a full eight hours. It's powerful stuff! I can't recommend this one enough, but if Lait Sucré is not your thing, take a look at their other fragrances and I'm sure you'll find some things that appeal to you.

Oh, and in case you're curious, I also purchased the Designer Type versions of Philosophy Baby Grace, Fresh Lemon Sugar, Prada Candy and a couple other dupes that I will be sure to review in the future. And just so you know, they take Pay Pal, they ship quickly, their shipping prices are very reasonable and they include extra freebies (sample sizes) and candy in their packages.

My only word of caution is that the body mists are quite "wet" when you dispense them. They are non-staining, however you will feel residue on your skin due to the glycerin in the formula. I just want to be sure you know that going into it, in case you are expecting these to be more like Bath & Body Works body mists that disappear after spraying due to the high alcohol content.

Have you ever ordered from Earthen Treasures? Do you have any favorite products or scents? I'd love to hear from you!

  2. Thank you SOOO much for posting this! I've been looking for a Chloe dupe as well as some other HE perfumes forever and a day. My issue not (or at least not just) the price point of HE perfumees -- It's their animal testing policies. I have never considered that part of the cosmetics indrustry until I ran out of my favorite perfume. I just placed my order for a Chloe-style body mist as well as a Shalimar-type body mist. I also sent the lovely Miss from E.T. a request for a new scent... Caron's Tabac Blond.. a girl can dream, right?! I also threw in a sample of the Luscious Scrub and a sample of the Fluffy Stuff - can't wait to try that. I did want to grab a soap as well but there wasn't an option to purchase one on the overview of soaps... or maybe I missed it??

  3. Thank you for reviewing one of my fave indie sellers. The two ladies who run ET are lovely, and their fragrance dupes are so dead on and long lasting. I love their body mists. I spray them onto my chest and neck area and massage them in. They moisturize so well and the scent stays the whole day. My two top scent faves from them are the JM dupe in Blue Agave and Cacao and the Prada Infusion d'iris dupe.

  4. Wow! Their list is extensive and I'm a bit overwhelmed. Has anybody ordered the edp's? It seems like most commenters have bought the body mists.

  5. I'm glad I ran across this post. I haven't been on your site for a while. There is a perfume I have been wanting but I don't think the amount equals the price. I'm totally gonna give this a try! Thanks :)

  6. Hey, G: What was your impression of the other scents you ordered from Earthen Treasures? I'm thinking of placing an order, but since she doesn't seem to do sample packages I'm trying to get as much info as possible. I ordered a dupe of Bond No 9 Chinatown from an Etsy vendor and it turned out horrible, so I've become more cautious.

  7. Really a good dupe? I tried a dupe from another indie house and it smelled burnt. :( Lait Sucre was my ALL TIME fave, I was heartbroken when it vanished. I am going to try your recommendation - it was such a comforting, soothing scent - no matter what I wore during the day, I always wore this to bed. If this turns out as good as you say, I owe you!!!
