Congratulations to our very own Brittany of Clumps of Mascara who gave birth to a beautiful baby girl this week! She’s already following in her mama’s fabulous footsteps (check out the adorable cosmetic case that was awaiting her arrival!).
Lipstick League Question of the Week:
Is there a beauty brand that has very rarely, if ever, failed you? If so, enlighten us and tell us why you think their products work so well for you.
G's answer: Maybelline concealers never let me down, and I can't really explain why. I've tried concealers from every brand at the drugstore and I always go back to Maybelline. There must be a magical combination of ingredients that Maybelline puts into their concealer formulas that just really works for my particular skin. I've had great success with their Dream Mousse Concealer (RIP), Mineral Power Concealer, SuperStay concealer (my Holy Grail) and also Age Rewind, which I've been using quite a bit lately (I love the Brightener). I have the Dream Lumi Concealer in my "to test" bin right now, and I'm hoping that one performs well for me too.

If I had to pick the most consistent in quality I would say Maybelline, however there are duds in every brand. I think it's impossible for every product to work with every skin type, and of course we all have different needs and desires for what we want our makeup to do for us. It is important for a brand to offer a variety of different formulas for that reason.
ReplyDeleteThat's a hard one to answer. I've long been pretty happy with Revlon lipsticks and eyeshadows, though I buy other brands when the impulse (or sale) strikes. I've always loved Maybelline mascara and L'Oreal lip products and mascaras, but lately I'm loving the NYC one (I think it's one of your HG options). I've been always pretty happy about Wet n Wild nail polishes. Probably one product I go back to repeatedly is the Physicians Formula Conceal Rx concealer, which does wonders to cover up a nasty blemish or scar.
ReplyDeleteTarte! Every product is awesome! :)
ReplyDeleteNot sure if this applies to the question, but Tweezerman tweezers are the only brand that really works for me. Dr. Bronner's castile soap as a facewash (among many other uses) is the only facewash I'll always have and use on a regular basis...of course I still love to try other brands and whatnot...this stuff has never failed me since 2001 when I had first started usuing it. As for cosmetics, I'm never devoted to any one brand or item, as long as it's cruelty-free...I'm game for always trying new things.
ReplyDeleteI would have to go with Maybelline! I've tried many of their foundations, powders, eye shadows, mascara, lipsticks, etc. and they haven't failed me yet!
