Did you think I was done with the "new sightings" posts for a while? Not even close! I recently spotted a TON products at the drugstore, so I hope you're prepared for lots and lots of posts in the next day or two!
Let's start the parade with this new BB cream from Aveeno (I didn't even know they had plans to release one!):
New Aveeno Clear Complexion BB Cream SPF30
(retail: $17.49 at Rite Aid, 2.5 oz)
NOTE: I am hoping that this product will also come in a "medium" (like their tinted moisturizer) but as of the time of this post, I do not know if it will also come in a "deep" shade (fingers crossed).
I think this BB cream is unique (compared to other US BB creams) in that it's specifically geared toward breakout-prone skin. I'm happy to see that you get more than double the amount of some of some other drugstore BB creams (2.5 oz), which helps to justify the higher price. I'm also happy to see that this is SPF30.
Keep reading for more details, including the full ingredients list...
Are you a fan of Aveeno's tinted moisturizer? I like their tinted moisturizer, however I couldn't find a good match for my skintone. Maybe I'll have better luck with their BB cream! I'd love to hear your thoughts.
I really hope this is in fact different from their tinted moisturizer, and not just renamed a bb cream (like Covergirl did with their Aquasmoothers tinted moisturizer). I was so-so about the Aveeno tinted moisturizer; it was OK, but really, really "dewy".

ReplyDeleteYour c&p of the ingredients isn't as damning as you seem to think it is.
DeleteThough the active ingredients are the same (sunscreen), the inactive ingredients are not: the BB cream has additional ingredients that the tinted moisturizer is lacking and the ingredients are in a different order (ingredients are always listed by weight in descending order).
TL;DR: I don't know whether the BB cream is any good as a BB cream but it definitely isn't the same old tinted moisturizer under a new alias. =)
hmmmm kinda torn about trying this one. Their tinted moisturizer is the only aveeno product I didn't like. It was super "dewy" and did not work at all on my oily skin. but the spf of this one totally has my attention!
ReplyDelete$17.49 the price?????? Serious? I thought drugstore skincare and makeup was cheap in America??? Really 17.49?????? Kinda shocked. Have drugstore prices gone up?
ReplyDeleteOooh FINALLY, a drugstore BB cream that is oil-free!! I like Aveeno a lot so I am excited by this release. I just really hope that they release a Medium shade
ReplyDeleteI love Aveeno and might try it later, once I use up some stuff. I'm guessing it's not that different from its Positively Radiant Tinted Moisturizer, though.
ReplyDeleteHi there! I'm a big fan of your blog, so I nominated you for the Versatile Blogger Award. There's a link to your blog on my latest blog post. :)
ReplyDeleteSushiroll, drugstore products have really climbed in prices. Foundations have really jumped in prices. Skincare is climbing as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm tempted to try this since I swear by their Clear Complexion line of products! I'm using the Physicians Formula BB Cream now (which I love) but still apply the Clear Complexion moisturizer underneath. That would cut back on some spending if I can get two in one!
ReplyDeleteI won't buy this because it has Oxybenzone in it. Too bad!
ReplyDeleteJust curious, is Oxybenzone acneic or are you just sensitive to it?
DeleteFinally am trying out Skin 79 BB Cream (the gold caviar one, suited for drier skin I believe) and I love it. It was cheaper than 17.49 too! No idea how different BB's really are, just because I compared the Skin 79's ingredients to that of a foundation and they were so similar....in fact, the BB had way more silicones! Jury's out on this one for me.
DeleteI'm finding it interesting that the price point for these new BB Creams is high. I'm not convinced yet that they are worth it.
ReplyDeleteRemember, you can use something once or twice and return it if it didn't work for you. I know Ulta, Sephora, and CVS are very cool about returning beauty products.
DeleteAnother new BB cream! O.O
ReplyDeleteI saw the price for this and initially thought it was too pricey, but I'm glad you pointed out that it has more product (2.5 oz) than other US BB creams.
Color me tempted, but I just picked up the Olay Fresh Effects BB cream (tinted moisturizer) and I really like it, so I'm wondering if I need *another* BB cream/TM formulation. On the other hand, I do have oily skin that tends to break out...
ReplyDeleteDef getting this! I'm so excited! I *love* Aveeno!
ReplyDeleteThey MUST make deeper shade(s)!!!!! Light will def not work on my half black skin :(
I saw one today in medium. Got one in the fair shade
ReplyDeleteYes they have it in the medium shade. Bought the fair to light shade earlier
ReplyDeleteI have cool to neutral pale sensitive skin prone to redness, dryness, and some hormonal acne. With my skin tone, the fair to light shade looks almost perfect, a teeny bit darker and more golden like a little bit of bronzer and not the oompa loompa orange that I get from the original tinted moisturizer product. I have worn this for two weeks and found it to be moisturizing and non-aggravating. Coverage is light with a dewy finish leaving a pore-minimizing look that tones down cheek redness with acne scars less noticeable. I'll have to keep using it to test the claims of helping actual fading. At the end of the day it settled slightly into my dimples. I do not have the balling up and peeling off the face problem like I did with Aveeno's tinted moisturizer, and I think the smell is less strong with the BB cream. Alas, there are still the same pump problems where the product drys inside the pump so the first pump is part dryed up product. I find that I need to use two pumps to get the whole surface area of my face and blend quickly with my fingers before it drys.
ReplyDeleteI tried this and within 2 days my face was red, itchy and has a dry crusty feel to it. It's been 5 days since I discontinued use. The red news has died down some, but it's still crusty and itchy. Not sure what to do now.
ReplyDeleteI'm trying this out now. Just wondering if anyone has tried Miracle Skin yet. Anyway, so far I do like this Aveeno. It's different.
