The Lipstick League – week of 10.08.12

Lipstick League Question of the Week:

What product makes you happy each time you use it?

G's answer: When Mr. G and I were first dating and he discovered my love of beauty products, he took it upon himself to go to a MAC counter and buy me a nail polish. Even though the color he bought chips like crazy (shhhh!) I still make a point to wear it all these years later and it always makes me smile every time I see it.

Links of the Week:

Vampy Varnish – Loves the new nail lacquers in the Zoya Winter/Holiday collection!

we heart this – takes a swatch-happy look, and embraces, their latest Vice (via enablers Urban Decay).

Beauty Junkies Unite – The name is Bond…James Bond! See the review and swatches of the new OPI Skyfall Collection for holiday 2012, inspired by 007 himself.

EauMG – Food & Fragrance: Victoria visited The Northwest Chocolate Festival. Here’s her “perfume pairings” for her favorite chocolates at the show.

Lipglossiping – gets spicy with Clinique’s new Chubby Stick Intense in Chunkiest Chili. It’s certainly chunky, but is it as pigmented as they promise?

Gouldylox Reviews – Best laid plans lead to odd adventures. Once again, nothing goes as planned, but at least my hair looked good. Want gorgeous movement and body for yourself, here is the trick I learned at Dry Bar!

Nouveau Cheap – Attention lip balm lovers: here’s an exclusive sneak peek at the Limited Edition Holiday 2012 flavors from Softlips. (Spoiler: yum!)

Pink Sith – Is giving away a WEI to Go Sleep Over Kit in Light. Enter for your chance to win!

Prime Beauty – her never ending quest for BIG hair may have come to an end with her latest Splurge vs. Steal Hair Powder Edition.

PhyrraFyrinnae Samhain 2012 is here and Phyrra has swatches, video, looks and a review!

Guest Post of the Week, as chosen by Vampy Varnish – Jeanette from The Swatchaholic does her first ever Galaxy Water Marble look and it’s incredible!

  1. It's perfume that most lifts my mood--putting on just the right scent in the morning is a fortifying experience.

Also, it looks really nice, but LOL at that chubby sticks name. Who wants lips covered in chunky chili?? (thank goodness it's not scented.)

  3. Carmex Healing Lotion because it smells like my childhood. Not sure what in my childhood, but it is very familiar to me. Every time I use it, it takes me to a simpler time.

  4. My mascara, lol. Takes me about five minutes to do it right but I have really short fine lashes and they are long and fluttery when I am done. Just makes me feel all girly lol. I use CG lash blast length, one coat on the bottom and two on the top, then the volume formula as the last coat on the top.

  5. My 10 dollar bottle of Sephora polish! It's the only one I have and the most expensive in a glittery blue. It's so pretty! I got it for my birthday from my cousin last year.

  6. It's the body lotion you recommended, G. Sebamed always makes me feel good because it softens my skin and it has that fantastic scent, almost like roses. Whenever I smell roses, I think of my grandmother. She used to make her own face lotion and that smelled just like roses!!

  7. Aww that was so sweet of Mr G! <3

Lots of fragrances make me happy - BBW Warm Vanilla Sugar as it's one I've worn for years and always go back to, BBW Sweet on Paris (new, but something comforting about it), and Acqua Di Gio because even 10 years after it was really popular and several guys I crushed on in college wore it, it still makes me weak in the knees!

  8. Hmmm...Well when I was a teenager I could have no makeup on but if I had acrylic nails, I felt Beautiful! I think it was because it made me feel older or something but now I loathe them. There was a point not too long ago that I just looked in the mirror and was thought no matter what color eyeshadow/blush/lipstick I was wearing I looked plain or just blah! (That's a feeling, right?) until I received lashes in a beauty box subscription I had and decided to play with them. And honestly, today, I don't feel like I have makeup on until I put my lashes on. They give my face that boost I thought I was missing. I wear them everday now and they seriously can change my attitude of the day. I don't smile in the morning till their on lol.

  9. When my bf and I first started dating he surprised me with a bottle of gucci rush perfume- I had never smelled it before- it was a total impulse gift! Everytime I wear that perfume i just get super happy! I guess that explains y I'm on my 3rd bottle!!
I also feel happy when I have a nice rosy gold blush on - that color works with my skintone like nothing else!!

  10. What makes me happy every time I put it on? Pure Tiffany Perfume! I love it, and I don't have alot left so it isn't my daily fragance but when I put it on I know it is a special occasion and that makes me happy! Love your story G about your BF and buying a MAC polish for you. Last Christmas my husband went to Ulta and bought me a train case full of Ulta makeup! Mostly eye shadows LOL. I can't imagine that he never noticed that I wasn't wearing it all last Christmas. Anyway I just love that he went and did that! I have been dipping into the shadows now that I wear them sometime!
