Sinful Colors Mega-Post: new shades, displays, swatches, dupes & comparisons!

As we gear up for the Sinful Colors $0.99-cent sale that starts July 22nd at Walgreens (and runs though July 28th), I have LOTS of new info for you, so let's get started!

First up, there's a new monster display popping up at Walgreens that you should look out for:

(image removed by author)

Reader Mere sent this pic to me last week (thanks, Mere!) and since then, I've heard from several other readers who have spotted it, so hopefully YOU'LL spot it soon too.

The three NEW Sinful Colors shades are ALL in this display: Leap Flog, Rain Storm and Lavender (more info on the last two in a second).

Thanks to Impoverished by Polish, here are some of the other shades in this display (note: some of these are older and harder-to-find colors, such as Slate and Fig):

Courtney Orange
Timbleberry
Gogo Girl
Creamy Pink
Sugar Sugar
Cross My Heart
Ciao Bella
Rainstorm 1053
Last Chance
Lavender 1007
Georgio
Slate 1055
Exotic Green 1105
Daddy's Girl
Nirvana
Black on Black
Snow Me White
Rich in Heart
Fig
Leap Flog
San Francisco
Here's where the new shade Lavender is in the display:

And thanks to Impoverished by Polish (love her blog name, by the way!) here are bottle shots of Lavender:

Next up, if you are thinking about buying Fig (not new, but harder-to-find), reader Yibi shared a fantastic dupe comparison of Fig to OPI Plugged-In Plum:

What a fantastic dupe, huh?

Next up, longtime reader graziaplena shared some lovely swatches of Rain Storm (which is a NEW shade):

Graziaplena also shared a nice bottle comparison of other blues in her collection:

And finally, remember how I told you that the new Revlon Top Speed polish After Party MIGHT be a dupe of Sinful Colors Leap Flog? Since Revlon owns Sinful Colors, this wasn't a big leap in logic, so I finally broke down and bought Revlon After Party (you can see the new display of Top Speeds here) and did a comparison for you:

Sinful Colors Leap Flog and Revlon Top Speed After Party

NOT a dupe, but close. I'd say that Leap Flog has more green to it, but After Party is dustier. In certain lights, they look almost identical on the nail. I think that if you have one, you definitely don't need the other, unless of course you're a grayed-out-blue-green-creme fanatic!

Thanks so much to Mere, Impoverished by Polish, Yibi and graziaplena for the fantastic info and pics! I know your contributions are going to help many of us decide which shades we're going to purchase during the sale on July 22nd!

Have you spotted the monster display at your local Walgreens yet? Do you have a shopping list going for which colors you plan to purchase?

  1. Haven't see the display, but I did see a bunch of the new Sinfuls dumped into a bin with regular Sinful colors last week. There were several bottles of Slate, which I bought, several of Leap Flog, two bottles of Winterberry, and a bunch of older colors.

    3. I found Daddy's Girl today in the makeup aisle at Target if you're still looking for it, on the bottom shelf below the OPI polishes. It's such a pretty tangerine I wanted it too! Hope that helps! =)

  3. I was in a different area today for an appointment and popped into Wags and Rite Aid. I picked up Leap Flog, didn't want to take a chance not finding it later, but did not see the pop up display. I will go in search of when the sale hits, though. I also got Peach Sparkle, because it's definitely too close to NARS Orgasm to pass up and at 40% it's a no brainer.

  4. I always hear bloggers talk about Daddy's Girl but whenever I look I never see it. So if I see it I will pick up that one. I bought Winterberry (after seeing your post about it), Irish Green, and Bali Mist the other day. I saw your post about Bali Mist being sheer after I bought it. Tried it over white and it was horrible so I had to take it back off. haha Maybe I'll try it over a lighter pink or purple some time. I do have a lilac color from OPI that might just do the trick.

    1. Try it over black - it comes out as an awesome iridescent purple. It's also not bad over "Out of this World" which is a white-almost-silver glass fleck.

    2. Thanks! I will definitely try it over black.

  5. Just an FYI, my Walgreens has a huge center aisle bin in their makeup section that is usually full of Sinful Colors nailpolish, but they are normally older colors, not new ones. However, browsing through them the other day, I saw Fig and Leap Flog. The sales person told me they haven't put out the displays recently, just piled all the new shades into that bin, so if your Wags has one of those and not a new display, you might want to search inside it. Hopefully they'll have Rainstorm and Lavender when the Wags sale hits next week, I have Wags bucks to spend ;)

  6. Thanks for the heads up on the sale. I picked up Leap Flog (last bottle too) and saw a grey shade that was in the 1000's but was unsure if it was new or not. It was a dark stormy grey with subtle shimmer.

  7. I've seen the display. It's nice. There are also mini displays with some of the same color. I didn't know Fig was HTF. It's in practically every mini display.

  8. The display at my local Walgreen's also has Winterberry on the display!=D I was so excited because I had been searching for it forever.

  9. One of my local Walgreens had a slightly different, but very similar, display up over the weekend. I was going to wait for the sale next week, but after finally coming across Rain Storm, Leap Flog and Winterberry (plus one lonely random bottle of Open Seas) . . . I didn't want to take the chance they'd be gone by next weekend. They were actually on sale for 2/$3.00, so I didn't have to feel too guilty about not waiting though!

Of course, I am still contemplating picking up Slate and Lavender, so I may go back again once the sale $0.99 hits . . . .

  10. Looks like I'll be heading to Walgreens next week! I missed their last sale on Sinfuls, can't slack on this one!

Hopefully they'll have some of those colors available, the Sinful displays at my local Walgreens are usually pretty empty when I see them. I guess they get picked over fast!

  11. Can I just say that I adore you and your blog! You are so full of the latest info and links and sales and more! I have a youtube channel and I have linked your blog in so many videos because I talk about it all the time. Anyway, Leap Flog is also very close to Essie's School of Hard Rocks and I heard someone else say that Leap Flog and Rainstorm are dupes for Zoya colors. Thanks for all you do :-)

  12. Went further afield looking for the elusive Winterberry...and finally found it! I saw this display at one of the 3 Walgreen's I went to and it was stuffed with old stuff I missed out on as well as brand new awesomeness. Picked up Winterberry, Zeus, Neptune, Ciao Bella, and Hot Spot. Saw Slate, Fig, Leap Flog, etc. Exciting!

  13. I grabbed Lavender the other day and I'll swatch it tomorrow morning and tweet it to you!

  14. Any dupes for Rainstorm out there? I love the color and in the event my Walgreens doesn't have it, I am hoping another brand does.

    1. I THINK it looks like the new Zoya Natty, but I could be wrong, as I often am. But I don't know if you want to pay $8. for a bottle of polish you might still find for 99 cents, of at worst, $1.99. Unless Zoya runs a GREAT promotion, I'll start hunting come Sunday!

    2. Unfortunately I have no way of comparing, (we don't have sinful here in NZ and I miss it) but Rain storm reminds me a lot of China Glaze first mate. Though perhaps rain storm is a bit lighter?

  15. I saw a new mini display but not this big ol' honker one! Gosh, I wish there were more new ones. I got Leap Flog and I love it better than After Party. Yea, I got the better dupe!!!!

  16. Is there a dupe of prey tell (from China Glaze) in the Sinful colors line??? That Prey Tell shade is the only shade I've ever truly wanted but I can't justify 7 bucks on it after all the makeup shopping I've done

  17. I have been so good lately! After I got the last color that I wanted from the CG Safari collection I told myself no more polish until this sale. LOL. For $2 (or. 99 on sale!) Sinful colors are really a decent drugstore brand, IMO. I have a few Spoiled polishes from CVS and you have to check each bottle to be sure the brushes are usable. I have seen some crazy messed up brushes! But for $2 I take a chance, and most of the time I really like the colors. I hope the displays near me aren't ravaged by Sunday haha

  18. I can't wait to pick up rainstorm! I want lavender too!!

  19. I thought these were never going to be mentioned. I have purchased wuite a few of them, in the last month. We doon't have the same display here....they are just set in radom places in the stores @ Walgreens..but Rainstorm is the most gorgeous color of blue...I prefer it in person rather than the pic itself. The formulation is amazing!

  20. Rainstorm looks like a dupe for one of the Revlon colorstay polishes.

  21. Saw the displays today at Walgreens. Getting my list together for Sunday morning before church. Thank you so much for the reminders.

  22. I am new to sinful colors and would like to start my collection. Besides the hard to find colors what are some other colors I should pick up? Thanks in advance to anyone that helps. :)

    1. Let's see, Sinful Colors Hottie is almost a dupe for OPI's Last Friday Night if you want a light blue buildable glitter. Unicorn is a pretty light yellow that's kind of different since it seems to me that many companies have bright yellows but not light ones. Mercury Rising is a gorgeous dark brown shimmer that I plan to wear a lot this fall.

  23. I cant wait for sunday! I have been looking for must have colors and making lists of what i have so i dont double up...ohhhh the anticipation! ^.^

  24. I haven't bought any Sinful in YEARS! I am so glad it's still around. I may stop by Walgreens and try to get some despite still having old bottles. (I have Fire Red on, but had to toss it since it looked dried out in the bottle. :() I will go for for the Storm one but not sure any others since it's been a long time since I picked up Sinful anywhere.

  25. Unfortunately I have no way of checking, (we don't have sinful here in NZ and I miss it) but Rain Storm really reminds me of China Glaze First Mate. Maybe rain storm is a bit lighter though? I was surprised that I didn't see it in your comparison bottle shot :-)
