Bath & Body Works Wild Citrus Sunflower is a fragrance that's part of the new Wild Garden Collection (in stores now). I received press samples for review a little while ago, and today I'd like to share my thoughts with you. (Apologies for the lack of photos but the samples I received were press samples in plain packaging).
Bath & Body Works Wild Citrus Sunflower Shower Gel and Body Lotion
(retail: $11 each, 10 oz)
First let me tell you that the word "sunflower" in fragrances is always a bit of a turn-off for me. My mind instantly goes back to Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers, a fragrance that I wore non-stop when I was a young girl in the 80s (and eventually ended up strongly disliking). So when I opened my package from BBW and saw that I had received Wild Citrus Sunflower, I let out a big sigh and maybe a tear (ok, I didn't really cry, but I was a little sad).
But then, I cracked open the bottle of lotion and WOW, it is nothing like I imagined it would be. This fragrance is so delightful that I've actually used up almost all of my sample bottle of lotion and it's only been two weeks!
If you're afraid that this fragrance might be heavy on the floral notes and lighter when it comes to the actual citrus, let me put your mind at ease. Wild Citrus Sunflower is definitely centered around citrus, with just a lovely, fresh floral note lingering in the background. The sunflower lends the perfect amount of softness to an otherwise standard citrus fragrance and, along with the nectarine, there's almost a sweet, candy-like dry-down that I absolutely adore.
From BBW:
Wild Citrus Sunflower is a sunny blend of sparkling clementine, cheerful sunflowers and luscious white nectarine
I think the sweetness of the nectarine is what ultimately gives this fragrance a candy-like quality, but it's also bursting with tart clementine, and then there's that soft, floral note keeping things interesting. The sunflower gives this fragrance a surprisingly clean, fresh feeling that you really have to experience yourself.
If you haven't popped into your local Bath & Body Works lately, I think you might want to stop in and give this one a test-run. If you're like me, cast away your preconceived notions about sunflowers and open your mind to this one. I honestly think I've found my "fun summer fragrance" for 2012 in Wild Citrus Sunflower.
PS: I lovethe shower gel as well. To me, the shower gel has more of a candy-like quality than the body lotion. I love sweet, girlie fragrances in the shower, so I can definitely see myself stocking up on this one when I run out.
Have you already seen/sniffed the Wild Garden Collection at your local Bath & Body Works? I'd love to hear your thoughts!

All Bath & Body Works products seem to smell good! I love the scent of every Bath & Body works products I've tried.
ReplyDeleteI haven't bought any yet but I've sniffed the Wild Garden collection and Wild Citrus Sunflower was definitely my favorite of the bunch. I'm already planning on getting WCS in mist and body cream form.
ReplyDeleteI'm also going to get a few of the Aromatherapy Boost Tangelo Woods products. It's my new favorite! I love citrus scents and that one makes me smell like I've rubbed mandarin oranges all over myself. LOL
This is my favorite as well! I also have a couple Wild Apple Daffodil items because I just love apple...but Wild Citrus Sunflower is my favorite!
ReplyDeleteAs someone who dislikes citrus scents, I was really surprised by how much I absolutely love this. I bought the travel sizes and I'm kicking myself for not getting full sized items. Will have to pick more up soon.
ReplyDeleteI grabbed the travel body sprays from the entire collection about a week ago. I always get the little ones because I like to wear something different everyday... and they last me forever.. plus the price point is great. I like all three of them, fruity with a bit of floral at the end. The citrus sunflower may be my favorite, but it is in close running with the apple one which is very yummy. I highly recommend them, perfect for spring/summer.
ReplyDeleteI love this scent. This is my favorite out of the there they came out with from their flower collection. loveee. It doesn't stay long on me during the day though. need to constantly re-spray, but I got the travel size spray!
